The number of excavated tunnels is increasing day by day, and the corresponding engineering scale is also getting increasing. Safe, efficient, and economically beneficial tunnel construction methods are indispensable in the process of crossing mountains and steep ridges in the southwest region. However, behind the improvement of transportation infrastructure in Southwest China is the support provided by the rapid development of blasting industry engineering technology in China. In the process of tunnel construction using the drilling and blasting method, in addition to blasting vibration disasters the phenomenon of overbreak and underbreak caused by blasting construction is a prominent problem. This phenomenon not only affects the safety and stability of the tunnel excavation but also seriously increases the construction cost. Based on a short mountain hard rock tunnel project in southwest China, this paper studies the effect of blasting construction on the blasting vibration of adjacent structures and the influence of tunnel contour forming quality. Through the monitoring and analysis of in situ blasting vibration, the Sadowski formula is used to study the attenuation law of blasting vibration velocity in different tunnel sites, which provides a theoretical basis for tunnel blasting vibration control. This article compares the use of overbreak and underbreak value with the traditional method to determine the degree of overbreak and underbreak. It introduces the analysis of contour section fractal dimension value and uses fractal theory in the Python image processing module to accurately and quantitatively describe the problems of tunnel overbreak and underbreak. The feasibility and accuracy of this method have been verified, by combining the total station and 3D laser scanner results of overbreak and underbreak measurements of the Brenner Base Tunnel and a short hard rock tunnel in a mountainous area of southwestern China. The blasting scheme was optimized from the aspects of cut hole form, detonator interval time, and peripheral hole charge structure, and the rationality of the optimized scheme was verified according to the on-site blasting experiments. It has a profound influence on strengthening the protection of adjacent tunnel structures and improving the economic benefit of mountain highway projects.

Background: Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is a common complication of sepsis and greatly increases patient mortality. Recombinant human Klotho protein (Klotho) is a protective protein that can be secreted by the kidney. The aim of this study was to explore the protective effect of Klotho on SA-AKI and its molecular mechanism. Methods: In vivo, a mouse SA-AKI model was constructed by cecum ligation perforation (CLP). In vitro, a human renal tubular cell epithelial cell line (HK2) was induced with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in the SA-AKI model. Determine renal injury markers, inflammatory factors, oxidative stress and molecular proteins related to the ferroptosis signaling pathway. Results: Klotho reduced the release of renal injury markers and inflammatory cytokines, decreased oxidative stress, improved renal histopathological changes, ameliorated mitochondrial damage in mouse renal tubular epithelial cells, increased HK2 cell viability and reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. Exogenous supplementation with Klotho increased the Klotho content in circulating blood, renal tissue and HK2 cells. Conclusions: In the SA-AKI model, Klotho attenuated renal tissue injury, increased HK2 cell viability, decreased inflammatory factor expression and oxidative stress, restored tubular epithelial mitochondrial function, and increased its level in circulating blood, renal tissue and HK2 cells. Klotho probably exerts its protective effects by activating Nrf2 to inhibit the ferroptosis signaling pathway.

The layout of microseismic monitoring (MSM) station networks is very important to ensure the effectiveness of source location inversion; however, it is difficult to meet the complexity and mobility requirements of the technology in this new era. This paper proposes a network optimization method based on the geometric parameters of the proposed sensor-point database. First, according to the monitoring requirements and mine-working conditions, the overall proposed point database and model are built. Second, through the developed model, the proposed coverage area, envelope volume, effective coverage radius, and minimum energy level induction value are comprehensively calculated, and the evaluation reference index is constructed. Third, the effective maximum envelope volume is determined by taking the analyzed limit of monitoring induction energy level as the limit. Finally, the optimal design method is identified and applied to provide a sensor station layout network with the maximum energy efficiency. The method, defined as the S-V-E-R-V model, is verified by a comparison with the existing layout scheme and numerical simulation. The results show that the optimization method has strong practicability and efficiency, compared with the mine’s layout following the current method. Simulation experiments show that the optimization effect of this method meets the mine’s engineering requirements for the variability, intelligence, and high efficiency of the microseismic monitoring station network layout, and satisfies the needs of event identification and location dependent on the station network.

Dechlorane Plus (DP) is a chlorinated flame retardant that is currently in intensive use and has been detected extensively in the environment. In China, the temporal and spatial distribution of DP is characterized by sources of point emissions in the south and diffusion to the north and west, including to remote, high-elevation areas, which are characterized by different climatic conditions and topographies. Thus, relatively high and low concentrations of DP have been observed in areas without significant nearby pollution sources. High DP concentrations have been observed in South China because of the recycling of large amounts of electronic waste and the presence of a DP factory. DP in urban areas is not influenced by atmospheric transportation, whereas DP in rural areas originates from atmospheric transmission from specific sources, such as e-waste recycling areas, which vary seasonally. Furthermore, DP in Chinese forest soils has been observed to preferentially accumulate in the mineral horizon due to leaching by precipitation as well as erosion by weathering in the organic horizon. Although the hazard quotient (HQ) has been estimated to be far from 1 for DP manufacturing operators, the HQ might not reveal deleterious effects on humans. Extremely high DP concentrations have been observed in serum samples from DP manufacturing operators in China. Moreover, different isomer-specific accumulation in terrestrial species, except for aquatic biota, shows that syn-DP is preferentially accumulated. Finally, to achieve better understanding of the mechanisms of DP degradation both in nature and in organisms, further laboratory study is needed.
