Prof. Dr. Dongho Rie is a Professor with over 30 years of research experience at the Department of Safety Engineering, Incheon National University. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering (Mechanical System Engineering) from Tokyo University of A&T in 1991. He has been teaching and researching fire safety (performance-based designs, structural fire safety, and evacuation safety) at Incheon National University since 1992. Additionally, he serves as the head of the Fire Disaster Prevention Research Center and the Safety Science Education Research Center. His recent research areas involve developing eco-friendly flame-retardant materials to replace chemical-based materials, fire risk assessment simulations based on performance-based designs, fire and evacuation simulations, underground space safety, high-rise building fire safety assessment, building material fire performance evaluation, etc.
