Manufacturing processes need optimization. Three-dimensional (3D) printing is not an exception. Consequently, 3D printing process parameters must be accurately calibrated to fabricate objects with desired properties irrespective of their field of application. One of the desired properties of a 3D printed object is its tensile strength. Without predictive models, optimizing the 3D printing process for achieving the desired tensile strength can be a tedious and expensive exercise. This study compares the effectiveness of the following five predictive models (i.e., machine learning algorithms) used to estimate the tensile strength of 3D printed objects: (1) linear regression, (2) random forest regression, (3) AdaBoost regression, (4) gradient boosting regression, and (5) XGBoost regression. First, all the machine learning models are tuned for optimal hyperparameters, which control the learning process of the algorithms. Then, the results from each machine learning model are compared using several statistical metrics such as 𝑅2, mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), maximum error, and median error. The XGBoost regression model is the most effective among the tested algorithms. It is observed that the five tested algorithms can be ranked as XG boost > gradient boost > AdaBoost > random forest > linear regression.

Phishing is one of the biggest crimes in the world and involves the theft of the user’s sensitive data. Usually, phishing websites target individuals’ websites, organizations, sites for cloud storage, and government websites. Most users, while surfing the internet, are unaware of phishing attacks. Many existing phishing approaches have failed in providing a useful way to the issues facing e-mails attacks. Currently, hardware-based phishing approaches are used to face software attacks. Due to the rise in these kinds of problems, the proposed work focused on a three-stage phishing series attack for precisely detecting the problems in a content-based manner as a phishing attack mechanism. There were three input values—uniform resource locators and traffic and web content based on features of a phishing attack and non-attack of phishing website technique features. To implement the proposed phishing attack mechanism, a dataset is collected from recent phishing cases. It was found that real phishing cases give a higher accuracy on both zero-day phishing attacks and in phishing attack detection. Three different classifiers were used to determine classification accuracy in detecting phishing, resulting in a classification accuracy of 95.18%, 85.45%, and 78.89%, for NN, SVM, and RF, respectively. The results suggest that a machine learning approach is best for detecting phishing.

In this study, the mechanical properties of basalt/ramie/polyester hybrid composite laminates were investigated. A matrix of 45% polyester was used, as it has good bonding properties between fibers. The composite laminates were fabricated using a hand layup technique, with seven layers stacked in different sequences and impregnated in the polyester matrix to create a hybrid configuration. Tensile, flexural, impact, compression, and hardness tests were conducted according to ASTM standards for mechanical characterization. The results showed that the overall stacking sequence of sample number seven (BRBRBRB) had the highest tensile strength at 120 MPa, impact energy at 8 J, flexural strength at 115 MPa, compression strength at 70 MPa, and hardness of 77. Natural fiber-reinforced composites are being used in current automotive industry applications, such as in electric vehicles.

Agriculture is the backbone of any developing or developed country that makes any living to survive. To make food available throughout the year, it is necessary to know about agriculture and the work and strategies involved. Hence, agricultural courses have to be introduced to higher education students. Additionally, agriculture-related methods are available in many higher education institutions for longer. However, students and teachers will face difficulties in real-time practical classes during certain challenging circumstances. These situations require the teacher to utilize trending technologies to improve the teaching and learning process and to make it more manageable. In this study, for this process, a novel neural network-based recognition algorithm (NN-RA) is implemented that works similarly to a backpropagation neural network (BP-NN) to provide a practical agriculture course. The proposed BP-NN is compared with the existing NN-RA, I-SC, and I-VDT algorithms based on the data transfer and signal-to-noise ratio. From the results, it can be observed that the proposed BP-NN attains a higher accuracy in data transfer of 99%.

Modern research focuses on natural, green, and sustainable materials that can be used to replace conventional materials. Because of their beneficial qualities, natural fibre composites are being thoroughly researched. This research focuses on the development of a flax fibre reinforced with phenol-formaldehyde resin hybridization with ramie fibre through a vacuum infusion process. Eight different sequences were fabricated using a core–sheath structure and were mechanically characterized as per ASTM standards. The fabrication technique influences the adhesion of the matrix with reinforcement. The results also reveal that composite having ramie as a sheath layer and flax as a core delivers good mechanical characteristics compared to vice versa. The laminate H exhibited highest mechanical properties among all the eight laminates produced for this study. It exhibited a tensile strength of 54 MPa, tensile modulus of 0.98 Gpa, elongation of 7.1%, flexural strength of 143 Mpa, and compressive strength of 63.65 Mpa. The stress strain curves revealed that all the laminates exhibited ductile behaviour before failing during the tensile test and flexural test, respectively. The stacking sequence of the laminate H influenced the mechanical properties exhibited by it and its counterparts. A morphological study was carried out to analyse the failure surfaces. Morphological analysis exhibited few defects in the laminate after the tests. The composites developed delivers better mechanical properties than commercial composites available on the market, which can be used in lightweight structural applications.

Spent zinc–manganese batteries contain heavy toxic metals that pose a serious threat to the environment. Recovering these metals is vital not only for industrial use but also for saving the environment. Recycling metal from spent batteries is a complex task. In this study, machine-learning-based predictive models are developed for predicting metal recovery from spent zinc–manganese batteries by studying the energy substrates concentration, pH control of bioleaching media, incubating temperature and pulp density. The main objective of this study is to make a detailed comparison among five machine learning models, namely, linear regression, random forest regression, AdaBoost regression, gradient boosting regression and XG boost regression. All the machine learning models are tuned for optimal hyperparameters. The results from each of the machine learning models are compared using several statistical metrics such as R2, mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), maximum error and median error. The XG Boost regression model is observed to be the most effective among the tested algorithms.
