Jan Pitel revised a Master’s degree in Košice Technical College, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, from 1980 to 1985, and a Ph.D. at the Technical University of Košice, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, from 1994 to 1998. He currently works as a Professor at the Technical University of Kosice—Technicka univerzita v Kosiciach. Jan Pitel carries out research into Mathematical Models, Automation, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Actuators, Intelligent Systems, MATLAB Simulation, Biomass Combustion, and Heating Processes. His current project is ‘Industry 4.0 for SMEs—EU Horizon 2020 RISE program’. He has been a member of the Scientific Council and Scientific Council of the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies at the Technical University of Košice; a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Applied Informatics at Tomas Bata University in Zlín; a member of the Faculty Committee for PhD studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies, Technical University of Košice; a member of the Faculty Committee for PhD studies; and a member of the Faculty Committee for the doctoral study program Engineering Informatics at the Faculty of Applied Informatics at Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
