Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is developed to investigate the internal conductivity changes of an object through a series of boundary electrodes, and has become increasingly attractive in a broad spectrum of applications. However, the design of optimal tomography image reconstruction algorithms has not achieved the adequate level of progress and matureness. In this paper, we propose an efficient and high-resolution EIT image reconstruction method in the framework of sparse Bayesian learning. Significant performance improvement is achieved by imposing structure-aware priors on the learning process to incorporate the prior knowledge that practical conductivity distribution maps exhibit clustered sparsity and intra-cluster continuity. The proposed method not only achieves high-resolution estimation and preserves the shape information even in low signal-to-noise ratio scenarios but also avoids the time-consuming parameter tuning process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated through comparisons with state-of-the-art techniques using extensive numerical simulation and phantom experiment results.

Federated learning (FL) as a promising edge-learning framework can effectively address the latency and privacy issues by featuring distributed learning at the devices and model aggregation in the central server. In order to enable efficient wireless data aggregation, over-the-air computation (AirComp) has recently attracted great attention. However, fading of wireless channels can produce aggregate distortions in an AirComp-based FL scheme. In this paper, we propose a modified federated averaging (FedAvg) algorithm by introducing the local learning rates and present the convergence analysis. To combat the distortion, the local learning rate is optimized to adapt the fading channel, which is termed as dynamic learning rate (DLR). We begin our discussion by considering multiple-input-single-output (MISO) scenario, since the underlying optimization problem is convex and has a closed-form solution. Our studies are extended to a more general multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) case and an iterative method is derived. We also present the asymptotic analysis and give a near-optimal and closed-form receive beamforming solution when the number of antennas approaches infinity. Extensive simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed DLR scheme in reducing the aggregate distortion and guaranteeing the testing accuracy on the MNIST and CIFAR10 datasets. In addition, the asymptotic analysis and the close-form solution are verified through numerical simulations.

Sixth-generation (6G) networks are evolving toward new features and order-of-magnitude enhancement of systematic performance metrics compared to the current 5G. In particular, the 6G networks are expected to achieve extreme connectivity performance with Tbps-scale data rate, Kbps/Hz-scale spectral efficiency, and $\mu\mathrm{s}$ , -scale latency. To this end, an original three-layer 6G network architecture is designed to realize uniform full-spectrum cell-free radio access and provide task-centric agile proximate support for diverse applications. The designed architecture is featured by super edge node (SEN), which integrates connectivity, computing, Al, data, etc. On this basis, a technological framework of pervasive multi-level (PML) artificial intelligence (Al) is established in the centralized unit to enable task-centric near-real-time resource allocation and network automation. We then introduce a radio access network (RAN) architecture of full spectrum uniform cell-free networks, which is among the most attractive RAN candidates for 6G $\text{TK}\mu$ extreme connectivity. A few most promising key technologies, that is, cell-free massive MIMO, photonics-assisted Terahertz wireless access, and spatiotemporal two-dimensional channel coding are further discussed. A testbed is implemented and extensive trials are conducted to evaluate innovative technologies and methodologies. The proposed 6G network architecture and technological framework demonstrate exciting potentials for full-service and full-scenario applications.

The discrete fractional Fourier transform is a powerful signal processing tool with broad applications for nonstationary signals. In this paper, we propose a sparse discrete fractional Fourier transform (SDFrFT) algorithm to reduce the computational complexity when dealing with large data sets that are sparsely represented in the fractional Fourier domain. The proposed technique achieves multicomponent resolution in addition to its low computational complexity and robustness against noise. In addition, we apply the SDFrFT to the synchronization of high dynamic direct-sequence spread-spectrum signals. Furthermore, a sparse fractional cross ambiguity function (SFrCAF) is developed, and the application of SFrCAF to a passive coherent location system is presented. The experiment results confirm that the proposed approach can substantially reduce the computation complexity without degrading the precision.

In this work, we consider the reconstruction of three-dimensional (3D) conductivity distribution using electrical impedance tomography (EIT) technique. A high-resolution and efficient algorithm is developed to solve the EIT inverse problem. The presented algorithm is extended upon a recently proposed novel EIT reconstruction approach based on structure-aware sparse Bayesian learning (SA-SBL). The correlation between proximal layers in the 3D geometry are incorporated into the structure prior to improve the reconstruction accuracy. In addition, an efficient approach based on approximate message passing is developed to accelerate the large-scale 3D learning process. To validate the algorithm, numerical experiments using real recorded data are conducted. The visual and quantitative-metric comparisons show that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods in terms of reconstruction accuracy and computational complexity in all test cases. The SA-SBL based reconstruction approach can preserve the 3D structure of medical volume, reduce the systematic artifacts, and improve the computational efficiency.

The ubiquity, large bandwidth, and spatial diversity of the fifth-generation (5G) cellular signal render it a promising candidate for accurate positioning in indoor environments where the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signal is absent. In this article, a joint angle and delay estimation (JADE) scheme is designed for 5G picocell base stations (gNBs), which addresses two crucial issues to make it both effective and efficient in realistic indoor environments. First, the direction dependence of the array modeling error for picocell gNB and its impact on JADE is revealed. This error is mitigated by fitting the array response measurements to a vector-valued function and precalibrating the ideal steering vector with the fit function. Second, based on the deployment reality that 5G picocell gNBs only have a small-scale antenna array but have a large signal bandwidth, the proposed scheme decouples the estimation of time-of-arrival (TOA) and direction-of-arrival (DOA) to reduce the huge complexity induced by 2-D joint processing. It employs the iterative-adaptive approach to resolve multipath signals in the TOA domain, followed by a conventional beamformer to retrieve the desired line-of-sight DOA. By further exploiting a dimension-reducing preprocessing module and accelerating spectrum computing by fast Fourier transforms, an efficient implementation is achieved for real-time JADE. Numerical simulations demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method in terms of DOA estimation accuracy. Field tests show that a triangulation positioning error of 0.44 m is achieved for 90% cases using only DOAs estimated at two separated receiving points.
