Wastewater from many sectors that contains hazardous organic pollutants exacerbates environmental contamination. Consequently, outstanding photocatalytic substances that can successfully degrade hazardous substances are needed to provide pollution-free water. From this perspective, zinc oxide/g-C3N4-based composites are desirable due to their low cost, strong reactivity, and environmental friendliness. So, in the current investigation, sequences of Mn/g-C3N4/ZnO (Mn/GZ) and Ni/g-C3N4/ZnO (Ni/GZ) nanocomposites (NCs) containing different concentrations (wt.%) of g-C3N4 were made via the co-precipitation process. The chemical makeup and morphological characteristics of the produced composites were ascertained via the techniques of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), photoluminescence (PL), and UV spectrophotometry. Methyl orange (MO) and Eriochrome Black T (EBT) dyes were used as target pollutants to assess the composite materials’ photocatalytic effectiveness. Compared to g-C3N4/ZnO and g-C3N4, the produced Mn/GZ and Ni/GZ NCs displayed better photocatalytic activity. The improved photocatalytic efficiency of the Ni/GZ and Mn/GZ NCs might be credited to synergistic interactions at the g-C3N4 and ZnO interface that result in a more efficient separation and conduction of photo-induced charges. Furthermore, the Ni/Mn atoms act as the facilitators to improve electron–hole pair separation and conduction in NCs. The nanocomposites were found to be incredibly stable, with consistently high dye decoloration efficiency over five catalytic cycles. Hence, Ni/GZ and Mn/GZ could potentially be very effective and adaptable photocatalysts for the photocatalytic decoloration of wastewater pollutants.

Although pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding has been widely used in microelectronics and photonics packaging industry, a full understanding of various phenomena involved is still a matter of trials and speculations. In this research, an ultra compact pulsed Nd:YAG laser with wavelength of 1.064μm has been used to produce a spot weld on stainless steel 304. The principal objective of this research is to examine the effects of laser welding parameters such as laser beam peak powers, pulse durations, incident angles, focus point positions and number of shots on the weld dimensions: penetration depth and bead width. The ratio of the penetration depth to the bead width is considered as one of the most critical parameters to determine the weld quality. It is found that the penetration depth and bead width increase when the laser beam peak power, pulse duration and number of shot increase. In contrast, the penetration depth decreases when the laser beam defocus position and incident angle increase. This is due to the reduction of the laser beam intensity causing by the widening of the laser spot size. These experimental results provide a reference on an optimal laser welding operations for a reliable photonics device packaging. The results obtained shows that stainless steel 304 is suitable to be used as a base material for photonics device packaging employing Nd:YAG laser welding technique
In this study, the structural and magnetic properties of a series of functionalized Co100−xNix (x = 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 85) nanoparticles (NPs) were analyzed with the objective of attaining a high specific absorption rate (SAR). The magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) obtained by ball milling at 1425 rpm lie in the range of 03–29 nm and are studied as potential candidates for magnetic fluid hyperthermia. Magnetic measurements show that all samples possess soft ferromagnetic properties with the reduction in the Curie temperature (TC) by Ni substitution in Co100−xNix alloys and by ball milling. The specific absorption rate (SAR) and specific loss power (SLP) obtained from magnetothermal measurements for powder and fluid samples lie in the range 4.4–83 W/g and 19–382 W/g, respectively, showing strong dependence on structural and magnetic properties. The SAR/SLP values as a function of the applied field at 425 kHz display a square dependence on the applied magnetic field below 165 Oe, which is expected for single domain ferromagnetic nanoparticles, but deviate from this at higher values of the applied field. We also obtained the effective anisotropy constant for ball-milled nanoparticles at 1425 rpm for 200, 300, and 500 min. within the framework of linear response theory, showing strong dependence on average crystallite size. Additionally, the toxicity of the prepared nanoparticles in the form of percentage hemolysis was controlled with oleic acid.
Zinc sulfide (ZnS) thin films with variable structural, optical, electrical, and thermoelectric properties were obtained by changing the source-to-substrate (SSD) distance in the physical-vapor-thermal-coating (PVTC) system. The films crystallized into a zinc-blende cubic structure with (111) preferred orientation. The films had a wide 3.54 eV optical band gap. High-quality homogenous thin films were obtained at 60 mm SSD. The sheet resistance and resistivity of the films decreased from 1011 to 1010 Ω/Sq. and from 106 to 105 Ω-cm, when SSD was increased from 20 mm to 60 mm, respectively. The phase and band gap were also verified by first principles that were in agreement with the experimental results. Thermoelectric characteristics were studied by using the semi-classical Boltzmann transport theory. The high quality, wide band gap, and reduced electrical resistance make ZnS a suitable candidate for the window layer in solar cells.
Cobalt-doped potassium hexa-titanate (Cox:K2Ti6O13 (x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 mole%)) ceramics were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. The XRD patterns confirmed single-phase development in a monoclinic symmetry of various samples, and they were used for different structural calculations of Cox:K2Ti6O13 ceramics. The dielectric constant, tanδ, electrical modulus, and ac conductivity of Co-doped K2Ti6O13 were studied in the temperature range of 100–500 °C. Anomalies were observed in graphs of the dielectric constant versus temperature, showing the transition phase in the studied samples. Dielectric peaks at transition temperature decreased with an increasing frequency, and the peaks shifted toward higher temperatures, illustrating the relaxation of the dielectric materials. The composition with x = 0.10 showed low dielectric loss and a higher dielectric constant and can be utilized for high-temperature dielectric material. Small doping of cobalt improved the ac conductivity of K2Ti6O13 ceramics due to the increase in the spin–phonon interaction and dominant electron hopping conduction; however, the conductivity diminished with substantial doping because of the contraction of the tunnel space and ambushing of conduction electrons. The uniqueness of this study is in the high dielectric optimization of lead-free ceramic Cox:K2Ti6O13 and the discovery of positive temperature coefficients of the resistivity of these ceramic samples.
