Ramiro Velázquez is a Full Professor with the Faculty of Engineering at the Universidad Panamericana (Aguascalientes, Mexico). He has been the Director of the Mechatronics Engineering program, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Vice-Rector for Research. He is currently the General Vice-Rector of this campus. He received his Engineering degree in Electronics from Universidad Bonaterra (Mexico) in 1999, his MSc degree in Control Systems from INSA-Lyon (France) in 2000, and his PhD in Robotics from Université Pierre et Marie Curie—Paris 6 (France) in 2006. He has been a Visiting Lecturer at
WSKSiM (Poland) and the Universidad de La Salle (Colombia). He frequently serves as an expert evaluator for the European Commission, CONACYT (Mexico), COLCIENCIAS (Colombia), FONCyT (Argentina), and MoST (Israel). His main research interests are mechatronic systems, assistive technology, haptic and tactile devices, and human perception. His research projects on assistive
devices for visually impaired and blind people have been featured in IEEE Spectrum, CBS News, and BBC Horizons, among others. He is a Level I member of the Mexican National Systems of Researchers (SNI).
