Driver fatigue and stress significantly contribute to higher number of car accidents worldwide. Although, different detection approaches have been already commercialized and used by car producers (and third party companies), research activities in this field are still needed in order to increase the reliability of these alert systems. Also, in the context of automated driving, the driver mental state assessment will be an important part of cars in future. This paper presents state-of-the-art review of different approaches for driver fatigue and stress detection and evaluation. We describe in details various signals (biological, car and video) and derived features used for these tasks and we discuss their relevance and advantages. In order to make this review complete, we also describe different datasets, acquisition systems and experiment scenarios.

Study presents findings of a simulator study that examined the differences of reaction time for children aged from 3 to 18 years, compared to adults aged from 20 to 30 years. Choice reaction time has been analysed and three sets of measurement have been realized. In the first set, psychical children's reaction time has been measured. Second experiment has contained the measurement of reaction time psychical with visual reaction time. All three components have been examined in the last experiment in sum. Obtained results have been statistically analysed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Post hoc tests showed differences or similarities between selected age groups. Obtained results revealed a need to use other values of reaction time for children than for adults. Values of reaction time of adults can be possibly exchanged for a teenage, no significant differences between 15–18 and 20–30 age group have been found

Vehicle-tree collisions are the most common type of road crash with fixed obstacle in Czech Republic. Based on the literature review and using real world in-depth crash data, this paper aims to define factors, which significantly influence the injury severity of single vehicle-tree crashes. In-depth data provide a comprehensive view to the failure on the system infrastructure—human—vehicle related to crash, the in-depth crash database include very detailed information related to infrastructure, vehicle, human failure and crash participants characteristics and their medical condition and also crash reconstruction. Multinomial logistic regression and generalized linear mixed model were used to determine the individual effect of each predictor. The statistically significant variables were the day period, trunk diameter and impact speed. Using multinomial logistic regression shows also vehicle age as statistically significant. Obtained results can help to efficiently direct countermeasures not only on the road infrastructure—e.g. speed reduction in selected locations with specified tree character. However, the emphasis should be also focused on driver behaviour.

Documentation of the traffic accidents scene is one of the main assumptions and input facts for subsequent accident process analysis. This contribution points out major deficiencies (especially lower accuracy and efficiency) of currently used conventional methods (triangular method, rectangular measurement) and means (surveying wheel, steel tapeline) for the documentation of serious accidents scenes. The article presents an advanced method of localization and traffic accidents scene documentation using geodetic total station (or GNSS) and photographic documentation of traces with selected points for subsequent rectification, possibly using an image from UAV. Indisputable advantages (particularly significant time savings), significantly more accurate traffic accidents scenes documentation results for police in the Czech Republic are evident from performed comparison of these methods at the real road accidents

The paper deals with the impact of shocks on cargo securing during the road freight transport. Commonly used methods of cargo securing do not take into account the different quality of roads, therefore the cargo securing doesn´t have to comply with principles of safe fastening. The paper highligths the different values of shocks and inertia forces on different quality roads (highway and 3rd class road) based on data of conducted transport experiments. The resulting shocks (values of acceleration coefficients) are statistically significantly higher on 3rd class road than on highway even at half average speed. The optimization of calculation using acceleration coefficients and their correlation with the resulting inertia forces is included in separated part. The output of the paper is a methodical procedure to optimize the cargo securing during the road transport.
