Among natural fiber composites, sisal fiber is one of the promising reinforcement which provides enhanced mechanical strength to the composites. The sisal fibers are low cost, available at abundant, having low density, improved specific strength and modulus, and are nontoxic. It has been utilized by mankind from the olden period itself. These fibers were used for making mats, cloths, bags, hats, ropes, and many applications. The increased strength of sisal fiber attracted the design engineers in developing fiber composites. The sisal fiber reinforcement in composites proven to be an effective replacement for synthetic fibers. At present, sisal fiber composites have been found in vast engineering applications like automobile, railways, building materials, electrical industry, geotextiles, defense and in the packaging industry. To increase the sisal fiber composite, strength hybridization was introduced. Although several literatures explore the mechanical performance of the hybrid sisal composites, there is no proper literature that summarizes the thermal properties of the sisal hybrid composites. This review presents a summary of the thermal characteristics of hybrid sisal fiber composites.

The usage of banana natural fibers along with polymer matrix composites had created much interest among the researchers due to their low cost, easy availability, strength and enhancement in properties such as mechanical, wear, electrical and thermal. Banana plant is cultivated all over the world which is familiarly used as food products especially banana fruit as well as many household items made from banana fibers. The natural fiber extracted from the banana stem proves to be a potential reinforcement in the composite manufacturing. This review is very much needed because of the enormous research reported on the banana fiber reinforced polymer composites, with such an excellent property offered by this banana fiber reinforcement the impact of hybridization and its need also to be addressed. This brief review article gives a detail information about the combinations of various hybrid composites produced using the banana fiber along with various other natural/synthetic fibers in the polymer matrixes and its performance improvement especially in the mechanical and thermal properties. From the review it was inferred that 30–50% increase in all the mechanical properties such as Tensile, Flexural and Impact strength. Also in addition an enhancement in thermal and moisture resistance also noted. In addition during this review the research gap observed is that the development of bio composites based on banana fiber is very limited and also the influence of banana fiber along with bio resin needs to be studied. The properties such as fatigue, fire resistance also to be analyzed using the banana fiber reinforcement.

This review examines the mechanical performance of metal- and polymer-based composites fabricated using additive manufacturing (AM) techniques. Composite materials have significantly influenced various industries due to their exceptional reliability and effectiveness. As technology advances, new types of composite reinforcements, such as novel chemical-based and bio-based, and new fabrication techniques are utilized to develop high-performance composite materials. AM, a widely popular concept poised to shape the development of Industry 4.0, is also being utilized in the production of composite materials. Comparing AM-based manufacturing processes to traditional methods reveals significant variations in the performance of the resulting composites. The primary objective of this review is to offer a comprehensive understanding of metal- and polymer-based composites and their applications in diverse fields. Further on this review delves into the intricate details of metal- and polymer-based composites, shedding light on their mechanical performance and exploring the various industries and sectors where they find utility.

The utilization of nano materials creates a huge impact on today’s scenario in development of various products. One such type of nano material developing concept is the usage of nano fillers for making composite product. This review briefs about the development of various nano fillers and its types followed by the fabrication of various composite combinations along with various nano fillers also discussed in detail. The addition of these nano fillers as a reinforcement or matrix for the composite making creates a significant impact in the mechanical properties of the composites. Special focus is given in such a way that the nano filler dispersion in which way enhances the mechanical properties. Better bonding between the matrix and reinforcement only improves the property how the nano fillers behave in that aspect also discussed in this review. The dispersion of nano fillers in various polymer matrix composites also presented in the review. Tensile, Flexural and Impact property of the composites decides its usage in various structural applications and this review presents briefly how these properties varying with respect to various nano fillers. Further the nano filler performance on the thermal properties as well as its impact in various sectors such as automobile, biomedical, sports, and aerospace applications etc., also presented in this review paper.
