Reports in the literature have proposed and analyzed several minimally invasive techniques for caries removal in recent decades. In light of recent events surrounding the ongoing epidemiological context, concerns have been raised regarding the generation of aerosols during dental procedures. The aim of our research was to provide an overview of the scientific literature on the topic of chemo-mechanical caries removal (CMCR) methods, focusing on two products (Carisolv, BRIX3000), commercially available in Europe. A bibliometric analysis was used to investigate the scientific articles included in Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database, published from January 2010 to December 2020. We analyzed the co-occurrence of all keywords (Author Keywords and the KeyWords Plus section), co-authorship and co-citation, using the free software VOSviewer. Our bibliometric analysis revealed a worldwide interest in the subject of chemo-mechanical methods of caries removal, which has transcended the area of pediatric dentistry. The analyzed studies have been conducted mainly in high-income countries that have developed sanitary policies regarding prevention and early treatment of carious lesions as a health priority.

Background/Objectives: Precise evaluation of mandibular morphology is essential for orthodontic diagnosis, growth assessment, and treatment planning. While lateral cephalograms are traditionally used for angular measurements, orthopantomograms (OPGs) allow side-specific assessment of mandibular structures. This study aimed to analyze bilateral gonial angles, bigonial width, and ramus heights on OPGs using artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted tracing, with a focus on symmetry, sex-related differences, and clinical applicability. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 78 Romanian patients (46 females, 32 males; mean age 22.8 ± 8.7 years) seeking orthodontic treatment. Standardized OPGs were obtained and analyzed using WebCeph AI-driven software. Bilateral gonial angles, bigonial width, and ramus heights were measured. Symmetry between sides and differences between sexes were evaluated, and correlation analyses were performed. Inter-rater reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Results: The mean right and left gonial angles were 126.3° and 127.1°, respectively, with no significant sex- or side-related differences (p > 0.05). Bigonial width averaged 134.9 mm, being slightly larger in males, although not statistically significant (p = 0.240). Ramus heights were comparable bilaterally (right: 48.4 mm; left: 48.3 mm), with males showing slightly greater values. Correlation analysis demonstrated strong bilateral symmetry for gonial angles (r = 0.795) and ramus heights (r = 0.895). Negative correlations were observed between gonial angles and both bigonial width and ramus height, whereas bigonial width correlated strongly with ramus height. Measurement reproducibility was high (ICC > 0.75). Conclusions: OPGs, when combined with AI-assisted analysis, provide reliable and reproducible measurements of gonial angles and ramus heights, comparable to cephalometric values. Their ability to assess right and left sides separately enhances clinical utility in detecting asymmetries and monitoring mandibular growth. However, caution is advised when interpreting transverse parameters such as bigonial width, where CBCT remains the gold standard. AI-driven OPG analysis represents a cost-effective, accessible, and low-radiation diagnostic tool with significant potential for precision orthodontics.

This study aims to analyze the challenges in health systems at the level of the European Union in terms of digitization, with the help of bibliometric analysis. The proposed empirical analysis aims to select the most relevant scientific articles from the Web of Science Core Collection, a highly trusted scientific literature database, due to its comprehensive coverage of high-impact journals across the world, including open access journals, conference proceedings and books. Bibliometric analysis is a methodical approach to quantifying the state of knowledge in the field of digitization of health systems in the EU, involving several steps, each designed to provide insights into publication patterns, citation patterns and the overall landscape of academic research. Two concepts were considered, respectively “e-health” and”digital,” following that the type of articles included was only”Article”, and as the last condition for the search was the analysis period that was between the years 2010-2022. The visual results of the investigation undertaken indicate a significant increase in interest in the topic investigated in our study, observable not only among the member countries of the European Union, but also internationally. This trend reflects the relevance and novelty of the topic in the global scientific community.

(1) Background: In the pursuit of enhancing diagnostic precision and treatment planning in orthodontics, accurate measurements in dental study casts of the different parameters of the dental arch stands as a critical element. Measurements such as dental arch perimetry, arch length or intermolar distance play a key role in achieving optimal results in orthodontics. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop, calibrate and verify a new tool for determining dental arch measurements and to compare these measurements, carried out with the newly fabricated instrument, to two other conventional measurements used in orthodontics. (2) Methods: The study used 40 dental study casts for measuring the three mentioned arch parameters. The measurements were conducted following three methods: with the new instrument, with the help of a digital caliper and with the conventional method using a graduated ruler and metal wire. The difference between the values obtained by measuring with the new instrument and the other two methods was noted out in order to calculate the margin of error. Descriptive statistics, including mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation, were computed for all replicates, while normality was assessed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov and Shapiro–Wilk tests; mean differences were examined using the Friedman test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, with statistical significance set at p-values < 0.05. Results: In the case of the arch perimeter measurement, the difference from the conventional measurement was −0.045 mm ± 0.006 and from the digital measurement was 0.025 ± 0.013. The measurement of the anterior arch length results shows that the difference from the conventional measurement was −0.0002 ± 0.014 and from the digital measurement 0.02 ± 0.0006. For the measurement of the intermolar distance of the upper permanent molars, the difference from the conventional measurement was −0.02 ± 0.01 and from the digital measurement −0.02 ± 0.001. The greatest differences were observed in the measurements of the parameter “Arch perimeter”, obtaining an average value of −0.045 ± 0.006 mm between the measurement with the new instrument and that with the conventional method using graduated rulers, as opposed to a value of 0.025 ± 0.013 for the difference from the digital measurement. Conclusions: the values obtained using the proposed instrument closely align with those obtained through traditional measuring methods like the graduated ruler and metal wire, demonstrating comparable results. Additionally, the measurements closely match those achieved through digital measurement using electronic calipers, showcasing the instrument’s accuracy in comparison to established techniques.

The present study aims to present the clinical implications of black stains but also their microbiological and chemical components. The study involved three paediatric patients divided into two groups on which samples were taken and through specific tests the presence of extrinsic chromogenic bacteria as well as metals and sulfuric components was demonstrated. The microbiological and chemical evaluation provides additional information that can be used by clinicians to improve the treatment protocol by knowing the bacteria involved and their specifics.

The study that we conducted highlights the role of the level of awareness among legal representatives of minor patients regarding dietary habits, interest in dental hygiene, and the presence of potential conditions that may influence the occurrence of dental erosion. Through a questionnaire, the study will examine both the parents' or caregivers' knowledge level on these aspects and the dietary behaviors of the children and adolescents in question. Dental erosion is the consequence of dental wear through the contact of an acid substance with the dental surface, without bacterial component being involved. The first side effect, which is also pointed out by the patient is flagged by the loss of dental hard substance, which brings with it the unaesthetic appearance of the teeth. Before reaching dental sensitivity or pain, the patient faces the unaesthetic aspect of lesions. This effect is increasingly common as, in recent times, more and more individuals emphasize aesthetic appearance. Regarding pediatric patients, their requirements are not very demanding initially, gaining significance later when they are integrated into a collective environment.
