This article deals with the problems that arise during the evaluation of the surface of the components, which can have a fundamental impact on the functionality and service life of the component as well as the entire product. A fast method for estimating the condition and maximum error of the surface tester used for assessing the surface roughness of components was proposed. Using the secondary surface roughness standard, a uniform distribution law of the measured data was experimentally identified as a suitable model, according to which it is then possible to determine the coverage factor for determining the measurement uncertainty. The design of surface roughness measurement methodology for Ra determination is critical when selecting optimal settings of conditions and measurement parameters for various types of component surface treatment technologies. This is mainly due to the effect of the selection of the evaluation standard, the effect of the measurement speed, and the effect of setting the cut-off filter for the evaluation of the quantity Ra. Etalon samples of surface roughness realized by different technologies were used for experimental verification of these phenomena. Large sets of measurements were carried out on selected samples from each technology, and, accordingly, a methodology was proposed for determining the optimal number of measurements for determining the surface roughness of the investigated component, which represents an important factor for achieving measurement results with minimal measurement uncertainties at low financial costs.

This paper is dedicated to investigating the properties of smooth conveyor belts through a tensile loading test, with the aim of examining the behavior of the inner structure of the belt samples. When the belt is subjected to a long-term strain, the belt relaxation effect is observed and changes may occur to the inner structure of the belt. The tensile test at constant velocity determines the load strength limit of the strip samples. The experiment has also shown the phenomenon of relaxation of the samples after the load. Metro-tomographic analysis is used to observe the behavior of the internal structure of the belt sample after the load. The obtained results indicate the initial damage of the inner structure of the conveyor belt occurred at the value of 2157 N. Under this load, the maximum damage size was 4.8 mm. This confirms the suitability of the method for tracking changes in the internal structure.

The subject of this paper is the solution to specific problems in the measurement of the coefficient of the sliding friction of material pairs using a variable incidence tribometer. The aim of this work was to solve the questions of the measurement of the static coefficient of friction using a variable incidence tribometer from the perspective of metrology. In particular, we intended to research the expression of the credibility of this measurement and the possibility of increasing the credibility of the measurement. Another problem that needs to be solved is the method of carrying out the measurement, which has an impact on its achieved uncertainty. Sliding friction is a phenomenon that depends on many material properties such as contact area roughness, moisture, lubricants, temperature, and relative motion velocity. If environmental conditions are defined, the main input parameter is the relative motion velocity. For this input quantity, friction force becomes a symmetrical problem, and it is only necessary to explore this phenomenon for positive values of velocities. Symmetry in this area simplifies the research of this science topic.

The in-pipe machine locomotes in the pipe on the principle of differential friction between the bristles and the pipe wall during the movement of the bristle forwards and backwards. These bristles are very important construction parts of the in-pipe machine. In order to define the locomotion of movement it is important to know the force situation on the bristles caused by its high deformation in the pipe. The determination of force situation brought us to a non-linear differential equation of the second order and determination of conditions for its solution. By this equation it is possible to describe the outline of large deformations of the construction part and to determine the forces affecting this part.

Robotic football with humanoid robots is a multidisciplinary field connecting several scientific fields. A challenging task in the design of a humanoid robot for the AndroSot and HuroCup competitions is the realization of movement on the field. This study aims to determine a walking pattern for a humanoid robot with an impact on its dynamic stability and behavior. The design of the proposed technical concept depends on its stability management mechanism, walking speed and such factors as the chosen stability approaches. The humanoid robot and its versatility, along with the adaptability of the terrain, are somewhat limited due to the complexity of the walking principle and the control of the robot’s movement itself. The technical concept uses dynamic stability as the potential force of the inertial bodies and their parts so that the humanoid robot does not overturn. The total height of the robot according to the rules of the competition will be 50 cm. In the performed experiment, only the lower part of the humanoid robot with added weight was considered, which is more demanding due to the non-use of the upper limbs for stabilization. The performed experiment verified the correctness of the design, where the torso of the robot performed eight steps in inclinations of a roll angle +4/−2° and a pitch angle +4/−6°.
