The Scalar Triangulation and Ranging (STAR) method, which is based upon the unique properties of magnetic gradient contraction, is a high real-time ferromagnetic target localization method. Only one measurement point is required in the STAR method and it is not sensitive to changes in sensing platform orientation. However, the localization accuracy of the method is limited by the asphericity errors and the inaccurate value of position leads to larger errors in the estimation of magnetic moment. To improve the localization accuracy, a modified STAR method is proposed. In the proposed method, the asphericity errors of the traditional STAR method are compensated with an iterative algorithm. The proposed method has a fast convergence rate which meets the requirement of high real-time localization. Simulations and field experiments have been done to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The results indicate that target parameters estimated by the modified STAR method are more accurate than the traditional STAR method.
Through-the-wall radar (TWR) achieves indoor human activity recognition by extracting Doppler and micro-Doppler features. However, the conventional deep learning-based human activity recognition methods have the shortcomings of low accuracy and long inference time. To solve these problems, a lightweight multi-scale neural network for indoor human activity recognition based on macro and micro-Doppler features (TWR-FMSN) is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, the trajectories of macroscopic Doppler and microscopic Doppler features are defined firstly and the integrated models are applied to label the trajectories at both scales for recognition. An efficient attention-mechanism-based lightweight target detection neural network with Lagrangian trajectory estimation is proposed to obtain macro-Doppler features of human motion. In addition, a kernel-distance-based micro-Doppler labeling method is utilized to obtain the micro-Doppler features of human motion. Finally, all the extracted macro-Doppler and micro-Doppler features are concatenated together for the decision of indoor human activity recognition. The effectiveness of proposed method is verified by experiments, and the results show that the proposed method can significantly reduce the inference time while retaining high recognition accuracy, which shows great potential in real-time deployment for the practical application.

To solve the problems of reduced accuracy and prolonging convergence time of through-the-wall radar (TWR) human motion due to wall attenuation, multipath effect, and system interference, we propose a multilink auto-encoding neural network (TWR-MCAE) data augmentation method. Specifically, the TWR-MCAE algorithm is jointly constructed by a singular value decomposition (SVD)-based data preprocessing module, an improved coordinate attention module, a compressed sensing learnable iterative shrinkage threshold reconstruction algorithm (LISTA) module, and an adaptive weight module. The data preprocessing module achieves wall clutter, human motion features, and noise subspaces separation. The improved coordinate attention module achieves clutter and noise suppression. The LISTA module achieves human motion feature enhancement. The adaptive weight module learns the weights and fuses the three subspaces. The TWR-MCAE can suppress the low-rank characteristics of wall clutter and enhance the sparsity characteristics in human motion at the same time. It can be linked before the classification step to improve the feature extraction capability without adding other prior knowledge or recollecting more data. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm gets a better peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), which increases the recognition accuracy and speeds up the training process of the back-end classifiers.

Aeromagnetic noise compensation is a vital part of aerial survey measurement, and its compensation effect directly determines the quality of aeromagnetic survey data. At present, the commonly used compensation model is the T-L model, and the least squares method is used to solve for the coefficients. However, the noise source modeled in the T-L model is incomplete. Since the tail boom cannot be completely rigid, tail-boom swing is an unavoidable problem in aeromagnetic measurement. This kind of swing is the most obvious when the aircraft is maneuvering, and it will significantly interfere with the measurement data of the sensor. In this article, two causes of the swing noise are analyzed, and the nonlinear relationship between the swing displacement and the noise is derived. Since it is difficult to express the nonlinear relationship with mathematical forms to compensate for the aeromagnetic data, we propose a new compensation method that uses a 1-D convolutional neural network to perform secondary compensation on the data already compensated by the T-L model in order to remove the effect of tail-boom swing. The flight experiment data show that the proposed method can significantly improve the quality of aeromagnetic data. Compared with the T-L method, the improve ratio is increased by 60%–100%. It shows that the proposed method has a remarkable compensation effect for aeromagnetic noise.
Aeromagnetic surveys play an important role in many fields, for example, archaeology, anti-submarine warfare, and geophysical exploration. Being in the geomagnetic field, the aircraft generates a great deal of magnetic interference, resulting in bad performance during detection surveys. Thus, it is necessary and important to perform aeromagnetic compensation in advance. Conventional aeromagnetic compensation methods consider that the geomagnetic gradient is approximately zero after bandpass filtering, bringing about the inaccuracy of compensation coefficients. To address this issue, an improved aeromagnetic compensation method robust to geomagnetic gradient is proposed. In this study, the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model was employed to model the geomagnetic gradient. Then, the estimated geomagnetic gradient was subtracted from the measured data, which improved the accuracy of the compensation equations. Field experiments were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experimental results show that compared to the traditional method, the compensation performance of the proposed method was improved by 152% to 329%. For the level flight, the standard deviation of residual noise after compensation can be as low as 3.3pT. The results indicate that the proposed method can significantly improve the compensation effect, showing great benefits for weak magnetic anomaly detection.
Digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) based repeater jamming can create false targets, which can lead to a loss of situational awareness, misidentification of targets, and decreased overall performance of the radar system. Traditional jamming suppression methods do not give due importance to the accurate estimation of the jamming edge, resulting in jamming residual and poor anti-jamming performance. To tackle this issue, this paper explores the reason and impact of inaccurate jamming edge estimation and proposes a DRFM-based repeater jamming reconstruction and cancellation method with accurate edge detection. In the proposed method, firstly, multiple jamming parameters are obtained by computing the short-time fractional Fourier transformation (STFRFT) spectrogram of the received signal. To avoid jamming residue, the proposed method estimates the accurate jamming edges by the joint use of the difference of box (DOB) filters and time domain deconvolution (TDDC) curves. Numerical simulations and experiments are conducted to evaluate the algorithm’s effectiveness in countering smeared spectrum (SMSP) and interrupted sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ). The results demonstrate its superior jamming reconstruction and suppression performance than other methods.
