Cylindrical vector beams (CVBs), being a special kind of beams with spatially variant states of polarizations, are promising in photonics applications, including high‐resolution imaging, plasmon excitation, optical trapping, and laser machining. Recently, generating CVBs using metasurfaces has drawn enormous interest owing to their highly designable, multifunctional, and integratable features. However, related studies remain unexplored in the terahertz regime. Here, a generic method for efficiently generating terahertz CVBs carrying orbital angular momentums (OAMs) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated using transmission‐type spatial‐variant dielectric metasurfaces, which is realized by designing the interference between the two circularly polarized transmission components. This method is based on spin‐decoupled phase control allowed by simultaneously manipulating the dynamic phase and geometric phase of each structure, endowing more degree of freedom in designing the vector beams. Two types of metasurfaces which respectively generate polarization‐dependent terahertz vector vortex beams (VVBs) and vector Bessel beams (VBBs) are experimentally characterized. The proposed method opens a new window to generate versatile vector beams, providing new capabilities in developing novel, compact, and high‐performance devices applicable to broad electromagnetic spectral regimes.

A surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor based on dual D-shaped hollow microstructured fiber is proposed. The sensor consists of rectangular arranged air holes, a gold (Au) thin film, a silver (Ag) thin film, and an indium tin oxide (ITO) thin film. The dual D-shaped structure of the proposed sensor detects three channels simultaneously. The effects of various structural parameters (e.g., sizes of air holes and metallic film thickness) on the sensor performances are investigated with the finite element method. The maximum wavelength sensitivity of 47500 nm/RIU (RIU: refractive index unit) in the refractive index (RI) range of 1.39-1.423 in Ch-1 is achieved, corresponding to a resolution of 2.11 × 10 -6 RIU -1 . The range of the SPR sensor in Ch-2 is 1.30-1.38, with a maximum wavelength sensitivity of 8300 nm/RIU. In Ch-3, the maximum wavelength sensitivity is 12.7 nm/°C, ranging from 0°C to 90°C. The proposed SPR refractive index sensor is sensitive, which can be potentially used for refractive index and temperature sensing.

As a fully distributed sensor, the phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometer (φ-OTDR) has attracted remarkable attention in real-time vibration detection. We present a dual-channel φ-OTDR (DC-φ-OTDR), formed by two single-channel φ-OTDRs (SC-φ-OTDR), to monitor running vehicles on a highway. In the double-channel system, an improved algorithm (will be referred to as the CDM&V) is proposed to alleviate the strong dependence of vibration detection on the differential step as in the widely used conventional differential method (CDM). The DC-φ-OTDR is first tested over campus road before applying it to locate moving vehicles on the highway. For comparison purposes, both the DC-φ-OTDR and SC-φ-OTDR are used to monitor the vehicles with respective signal processing methods of the CDM and CDM&V. The experimental results at campus show that the dual-path scheme can undoubtedly reduce vibration misjudgment relative to the single one due to the very small possibility of false measurements occurred simultaneously at the same location in both channels. In signal demodulation, the CDM&V greatly relaxes the constraints on the differencing interval for identifying the vehicle-caused vibration. With a step size of 5 or lower, the CDM fails to locate the running vehicle at z=~8.5 km, but the CDM&V successfully demonstrates the feasible capability of locating the vibration. With an increase in the differential interval, both the CDM and CDM&V are able to detect the vibration signal, but with the latter showing a much better noise suppression performance and hence a larger SNR. Importantly, in comparison with the SC-φ-OTDR system, the DC-φ-OTDR exhibits a considerable enhanced SNR for the detection signal regardless of which processing algorithm (i.e., CDM, CDM&V) is used. The vehicle locations positioned by the DC-φ-OTDR are confirmed by the monitoring cameras.

The inorganic perovskite has a better stability than the hybrid halide perovskite, and at the same time it has the potential to achieve an excellent photoelectric performance as the organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskite. Thus, the pursuit of a low-cost and high-performance inorganic perovskite solar cell (PSC) is becoming the research hot point in the research field of perovskite devices. In setting out to build vacuum-free and carbon-based all-inorganic PSCs with the traits of simple fabrication and low cost, we propose the ones with a simplified vertical structure of FTO/CsPbIBr2/carbon upon interfacial modification with PEI species. In this structure, both the electron-transporting-layer and hole-transporting-layer are abandoned, and the noble metal is also replaced by the carbon paste. At the same time, FTO is modified by PEI, which brings dipoles to decrease the work function of FTO. Through our measurements, the carrier recombination has been partially suppressed, and the performance of champion PSCs has far exceeded the control devices without PEI modification, which yields a power conversion efficiency of 4.9% with an open circuit voltage of 0.9 V and a fill factor of 50.4%. Our work contributes significantly to give an available method to explore charge-transporting-layer-free, low-cost, and high-performance PSCs.
