In today’s fast-paced business settings, the metaverse as a shared marketplace has gained popularity and is helping businesses to develop crucial business strategies in their pursuit of sustainable performance. However, a lack of understanding and knowledge about the effectiveness of the metaverse and its related technologies creates a barrier. Therefore, the current study fills this gap and uses organizational information-processing theory to develop the theoretical framework to examine metaverse-related technologies (artificial intelligence and blockchain technology—BCT) and their direct and indirect effects on sustainable business performance, which no other study has examined. Using purposive sampling, the sample data from 326 SMEs were gathered and analyzed using a partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). This study’s findings revealed that AI capabilities are vital for information gathering, analyzing, and decision-making in the metaverse context. BCT facilitates ensuring a transparent, visible, traceable, and immutable supply chain, which helps make it more resilient and improves the closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) system with positive technological advancements and significant effects on increasing sustainable business performance (SBP). This study’s findings help organizations understand the potential benefits of AI-enabled SMEs’ presence in the metaverse. The current investigation provides a strategy for managers to gain a competitive advantage, make the supply chain more robust, and enhance overall business performance.

The human resources mobile information system (HRMoIS) provides users with direct access to information via mobile devices, enhancing efficiency, productivity, and the user experience. It includes mobile applications, websites, SMS services, and other communication mediums. This system enhances information mobility, facilitates operational processes, and supports decision-making in the ever-evolving technological landscape, ultimately improving users’ efficiency and productivity. Al-Anbar Province is undergoing significant urban and economic development. Still, more research is needed on the impact of HRMoIS on employee performance in Anbar to enhance their skills. This study aims to provide insights for top management and decision-makers on implementing similar methods to enhance employee performance. The study employs a questionnaire to survey managers and regular employees in 20 small organizations in Al Anbar, Iraq. The data is analyzed using percentages, frequencies, Pearson correlation, and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. This allows for a comprehensive examination of all the essential aspects of human resource dynamics. The questionnaire upholds integrity and precision by aligning with roles and responsibilities. The study found that organizations implementing HRMoIS had higher mean values despite barriers such as organizational resistance, limited resources, and inadequate training. The results underscore the importance of organizations addressing these issues and enhancing their HRMoIS adoption. The study investigates the impact of HRMoIS on HR performance in small organizations in Iraq. The results show a positive correlation between mobile information systems and HR management efficiency. The study recommends implementing mobile information systems in small organizations in Al Anbar to enhance their performance. It emphasizes the need for providing necessary hardware and software, hiring experienced consultants, ensuring employee training and development, supplying HRMoIS with relevant data, and appointing experienced employees to keep up with technological advancements.

The present case study-based research provides insights of the current packaging practices with a supply chain perspective and proposed sustainable packaging options that would cut down the environmental impact from supply chain operations at Midas Safety. The case study is based on qualitative research that used semi-structured open-ended interviews and observations to understand the current processes of the packaging and supply chain department of Midas Safety and how they are planning to adapt sustainability to their processes. Considering the current packaging practices, the study aimed to develop improved sustainable packaging practices with a supply chain aspect in order to cut down the negative environmental aspect such as standardization in packaging for all customers, elimination of wood pallets, developing local suppliers, change in packaging design, making the packaging more compact and lightweight, reducing carbon footprint and fuel consumption by encouraging trade through sea instead of air. The results concluded that internal factors such as alternate packaging material (like Mondi’s Aegispaper, Arjowiggins’ and Corrugated Bubble Wrap) along with the suggested sustainable packaging practices discussed above and external factors such as availability of local vendors are important requirements for successful sustainable packaging development.

While moving towards sustainable performance, organizations try to create a win-win situation not only for the organization itself but for the planet and society as well. The main aim of this study is to examine the linkage between environmental corporate social responsibility (ECSR), green talent management (GTM), and organization’s sustainable performance. The study also investigates the impact of ECSR and GTM towards sustainable performance through transformational leadership, employees’ innovative work behavior (IWB), and green performance (GP). The results of the present study show that ECSR directly influences the sustainable performance and GTM of an organization. Similarly, green hard and soft talent management (TM) both have direct and positive links with employees’ IWB and GP. Another important finding is the significant and direct relationship of both IWB and GP of employees towards the sustainable performance of an organization. The moderating role of transformational leadership exerts a significant moderating influence between green hard TM and IWB. However, the moderating role of transformational leadership between green soft TM and IWB and the moderating role of transformational leadership between GTM and employee’s GP proves insignificant. The findings of this study can help the organizations to understand the importance of engaging in environmentally sustainable activities and to support and recognize the significance of green values and competencies within their employees.
