Fernando Sánchez Lasheras was born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1975. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial engineering from the University of Oviedo, in 2000 and 2008, respectively. In 2010, he joined the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering, Oviedo University, as a part-time Instructor. In 2017, after a career of almost twenty years in the industry, he joined the Department of Mathematics of Oviedo University where he currently works as a senior lecturer. His current research interests include time series and machine learning and their applications in different fields like the stock market. Fernando has co-authored two books about Numerical Analysis and more than 90 papers published in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports list. He has received two awards for his papers: one was for the paper most downloaded of the years 2015 and 2016 in the journal of the Fundación Educación Médica and another for the second-best paper of the year in the Revista Española de Cardiología in 2012 (journal indexed in JCR as Q2 in 2012). Further, a couple of his congress contributions have been awarded.
