In order to improve patient outcomes, brain tumors—which are notorious for their catastrophic effects and short life expectancy, particularly in higher grades—need to be diagnosed accurately and treated with care. Patient survival chances may be hampered by incorrect medical procedures brought on by a brain tumor misdiagnosis. CNNs and computer-aided tumor detection systems have demonstrated promise in revolutionizing brain tumor diagnostics through the application of ML techniques. One issue in the field of brain tumor detection and classification is the dearth of non-invasive indication support systems, which is compounded by data scarcity. Conventional neural networks may cause problems such as overfitting and gradient vanishing when they use uniform filters in different visual settings. Moreover, these methods incur time and computational complexity as they train the model from scratch and extract the pertinent characteristics. This paper presents an InceptionV4 neural network architecture-based Transfer Learning-based methodology to address the shortcomings in brain tumor classification methods. The goal is to deliver precise diagnostic assistance while minimizing calculation time and improving accuracy. The model makes use of a dataset that contains 7022 MRI images that were obtained from figshare, the SARTAJ dataset, and Br35H, among other sites. The suggested InceptionV4 architecture improves its ability to categorize brain tumors into three groups and normal brain images by utilizing transfer learning approaches. The suggested InceptionV4 model achieves an accuracy rate of 98.7% in brain tumor classification, indicating the model’s remarkable performance. This suggests a noteworthy progression in the precision of diagnosis and computational effectiveness to support practitioners making decisions.

Convolutiona neural network (CNN) is one of the best neural networks for classification, segmentation, natural language processing (NLP), and video processing. The CNN consists of multiple layers or structural parameters. The architecture of CNN can be divided into three sections: convolution layers, pooling layers, and fully connected layers. The application of CNN became most demanding due to its ability to learn features from images automatically, involving massive amount of training data and high computational resources like GPUs. Due to the availability of the above-stated resources, multiple CNN architectures have been reported. This study focuses on the working of convolution, pooling, and the fully connected layers of CNN architecture, origin of architectures, limitation, benefits of reported architectures, and comparative analysis of contemporary architecture concerning the number of parameters, architectural depth, and significant contribution.

This research work proposed a hybrid model to maximize energy consumption and maximize user comfort in residential buildings. The proposed model consists of two widely used optimization algorithms named the firefly algorithm (FA) and genetic algorithm (GA). The hybridization of two optimization approaches results in a better optimization process, leading to better performance of the process in terms of minimum power consumption and maximum occupant’s comfort. The inputs of the optimization model are illumination, temperature, and air quality from the user, in addition with the external environment. The outputs of the proposed model are the optimized values of illumination, temperature, and air quality, which are, in turn, used in computing the values of user comfort. After the computation of the comfort index, these values enter the fuzzy controllers, which are used to adjust the cooling/heating system, illumination system, and ventilation system according to the occupant’s requirement. A user-friendly environment for power consumption minimization and user comfort maximization using data from different sensors, user, processes, power control systems, and various actuators is proposed in this work. The results obtained from the hybrid model have been compared with many state-of-the-art optimization algorithms. The final results revealed that the proposed approach performed better as compared to the standard optimization techniques.

The process of pneumonia detection has been the focus of researchers as it has proved itself to be one of the most dangerous and life-threatening disorders. In recent years, many machine learning and deep learning algorithms have been applied in an attempt to automate this process but none of them has been successful significantly to achieve the highest possible accuracy. In a similar attempt, we propose an enhanced approach of a deep learning model called restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM) which is named enhanced RBM (ERBM). One of the major drawbacks associated with the standard format of RBM is its random weight initialization which leads to improper feature learning of the model during the training phase, resulting in poor performance of the machine. This problem has been tried to eliminate in this work by finding the differences between the means of a specific feature vector and the means of all features given as inputs to the machine. By performing this process, the reconstruction of the actual features is increased which ultimately reduces the error generated during the training phase of the model. The developed model has been applied to three different datasets of pneumonia diseases and the results have been compared with other state of the art techniques using different performance evaluation parameters. The proposed model gave highest accuracy of 98.56 followed by standard RBM, SVM, KNN, and decision tree which gave accuracies of 97.53, 92.62, 91.64, and 88.77, respectively, for dataset named dataset 2. Similarly, for the dataset 1, the highest accuracy of 96.66 has been observed for the eRBM followed by srRBM, KNN, decision tree, and SVM which gave accuracies of 90.22, 89.34, 87.65, and 86.55, respectively. In the same way, the accuracies observed for the dataset 3 by eRBM, standard RBM, KNN, decision tree, and SVM are 92.45, 90.98, 87.54, 85.49, and 84.54, respectively. Similar observations can also be seen for other performance parameters showing the efficiency of the proposed model. As revealed in the results obtained, a significant improvement has been observed in the working of the RBM by introducing a new method of weight initialization during the training phase. The results show that the improved model outperforms other models in terms of different performance evaluation parameters, namely, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and ROC curve.
