The new era of hyper-communication has led organizations to increasingly adopt communications technologies such as instant messaging (IM) for better connections and improved work efficiency. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has exerted further pressure and many organizations increasingly depend on IM tools to manage remote workers. In this new context, negative workplace impacts of IM seem more plausible, because technology use causes technostress. In this paper, we propose a research model to analyze instant messaging usage effects on individual work performance and well-being by the means of relevant techno-stressors. The model was tested on a sample of 372 employees from Romanian organizations that use instant messaging at work. Econometric analysis relies on the Structural Equation Modelling methodology and uses SPSS AMOS. Our findings suggest that the usage of instant messaging significantly influences on perceived techno-complexity, techno-overload and techno-invasion, which in turn influences, to some extent, both individual work performance and well-being. Dividing the sample according to the type of work (teleworking and office work), we compared the results between these two groups and encountered some significant differences.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in tourism, with its central evironmental dimension, represents an important component for the sustainable growth of the tourism industry. The related CSR education could prove a major factor for future professional performance in this field of activity. Thus, this article is aimed at identifying the perceptions of current business students about CSR (students from study programs dedicated to business administration in tourism) and the importance they attribute to CSR environmental practices, mainly from their perspective as future employees in the tourism industry. We elaborated a research methodology based on the Ecolabelling principles, designed by the European Union in 2009. Our findings revealed that business tourism students assign more importance to several specific CSR environmental practices and that the importance of these CSR practices is statistically significant (we determined this significance by using the Friedman, Paired-Samples t-, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis and Bartlett sphericity statistical tests). The elaborated research methodology proved to be statistically highly reliable. Results also show the differences regarding the CSR practices preferred by various categories of students according to their study levels and gender. Our results pointed out that our third-year bachelor students showed a higher interest in CSR practices related to their professional training, while students from the master level degree attached more importance to CSR practices related to the environment. We also confirmed conclusions of previous studies that female respondents attach more importance to environmental issues than male respondents. Thus, we can state that a higher level of education is a key factor that supports CSR development in practice. Also, a significant conclusion of our research is related to the academic curricula for business faculties which must incorporate solid CSR and business ethics-dedicated courses and offer the needed support for the development of thematic projects about CSR Environmental practices in hotels。

Cultural intelligence (CQ) is a relatively new concept, one that explains why certain individuals can adapt to different cultural contexts more efficiently than others. Using Earley & Ang's (2003) multidimensional concept as an analysis framework, this paper will study the intercultural intelligence among business students in Romania. We have chosen this research topic because we believe that the business students of today will become the global managers of tomorrow. Given that CQ is a multidimensional concept, this paper will analyze the answers for each of the four CQ dimensions, in order to identify which of the four capabilities is more or less developed among students. The final purpose is to understand the CQ components on which higher education should focus more. We wish to find educational solutions adapted to the actual needs of business graduates

Artificial intelligence (AI) affects all aspects of a business, significantly contributing to problem-solving and introducing new operational processes within companies. Interest in AI is growing due to its capacities regarding the efficiency of operations, reduced working time, and quality improvements. However, to ensure proper development, businesses should also address the ethical effects generated by AI technologies. This research aims to identify AI’s ethical impact and associated challenges in the business consulting industry and the consultants’ perspective on AI’s future implementation in their specific sector. The methodology is based on the design of a structural equation modelling using data collected through a survey addressed to business consultants. The results highlight that ethical concerns are positively correlated with the identified harmful consequences of AI, such as high implementation costs, the possibility that this technology will lead to job losses, or a lack of human interaction and creativity. The consultants’ perspective on the future aspects of AI’s use in business consulting is negatively impacted by the following ethical outcomes: discrimination, invasions of privacy, denial of individual autonomy, unjustifiable results, and disintegration of social connection.

At the panel level, formed of 33 European economies based on resource efficiency enhancers or innovation-driven factors, the present study followed causal relationships between the conditions of economic efficiency ensuring framework and different macroeconomic effects of entrepreneurship, mediated by the entrepreneurial behavior, with delays up to five years. Research findings highlighted that a national efficiency enhancing framework acts as stimulant for the entrepreneurial behavior of nascent entrepreneurs and new small and medium-sized business owners, while a superior level of entrepreneurial behavior generates simultaneous and/or medium-term favorable effects on the growth of gross domestic product, exports, imports and employment, therefore assuring, besides immediate growth, sustainable economic and social progress in the analyzed countries. The causal relationships identified are consistent with the results of other empirical studies in the field.

Business intelligence and analytics (BI&A) have recently emerged as a strategic approach to managerial tasks, providing opportunities to improve work performance. Despite the growing interest in evaluating cases of BI&A adoption, to the best of our knowledge, few studies have addressed the influence of data-driven culture and the effects of BI&A adoption specifically on the work performance of managers. The aim of this study is to assess whether a data-driven culture predicts the adoption of BI&A in companies and its impact on decision-making effectiveness and managerial performance. This novel research model was tested with 180 managers from Romanian companies that work with BI&A tools. Based on PLS-SEM data analysis, our findings suggest that a data-oriented culture is a strong predictor of BI&A adoption and decision-making effectiveness. The results also confirm that BI&A utilization positively impacts decision-making effectiveness and individual work performance. The primary implication drawn from empirical evidence is that executives should prioritize the cultivation of a data-driven culture within their organizations, as this is essential for enhancing managerial performance through the adoption of business intelligence and analytics.
