The spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to show that geographic barriers alone cannot contain the virus. Asymptomatic carriers play a critical role in the nature of this virus, which is rapidly escalating into a global pandemic. Asymptomatic carriers can inadvertently transmit the virus through the air stream. Many diseases can infect human bodies with tiny droplets or particles that carry various viruses and bacteria that are generated by the respiratory system of infected patients. This article presents the numerical results of the spread of droplets or particles in a room. The proposed numerical model in this work takes into account the sedimentation of particles or droplets under the action of gravitational sedimentation and transport in the room during the process of breathing and sneezing or coughing. Three different cases are numerically investigated taking into account normal breathing and coughing or sneezing, respectively, and three different rates of particle ejection from the mouth are considered. Navier–Stokes equations for incompressible flows were used to describe three-dimensional air flow inside ventilated rooms. The influence of ventilation rate on social distancing is also computationally investigated. It was found that particles can move up to 5 m with a decrease in concentration in the direction of the air flow. The conclusions made in this work show that, given the environmental conditions, the two meter social distance recommended by WHO is insufficient.

Water resource pollution, particularly in river channels, presents a grave environmental challenge that necessitates a comprehensive and systematic approach encompassing assessment, forecasting, and effective management. This article provides a comprehensive exploration of the methodology and modeling tools employed to scrutinize the process of river channel pollution due to silting, rooted in the fundamental principles of hydrodynamics and pollutant transport dynamics. The study’s methodology seamlessly integrates numerical simulations with state-of-the-art neural network techniques, with a specific focus on the physics-informed neural network (PINN) method. This innovative approach represents a groundbreaking fusion of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and physical equations, offering a more efficient and precise means of modeling a wide array of complex processes and phenomena. The proposed mathematical model, grounded in the Euler equation, has been meticulously implemented using the Ansys Fluent software package, ensuring accuracy and reliability in the computations. In a pivotal phase of the research, a thorough comparative analysis was conducted between the results derived using the PINN method and those obtained using conventional numerical approaches with the Ansys Fluent software package. The outcomes of this analysis revealed the superior performance of the PINN method, characterized by the generation of smoother pressure fluctuation profiles and a significantly reduced computation time, underscoring its potential as a transformative modeling tool. The calculated data originating from this study assume paramount significance in the ongoing battle against river sedimentation. Beyond this immediate application, these findings also serve as a valuable resource for creating predictive materials pertaining to river channel silting, thereby empowering decision-makers and environmental stakeholders with essential information. The utilization of modeling techniques to address pollution concerns in river channels holds the potential to revolutionize risk management and safeguard the integrity of our vital water resources. However, it is imperative to underscore that the effectiveness of such models hinges on ongoing monitoring and frequent data updates, ensuring that they remain aligned with real-world conditions. This research not only contributes to the enhanced understanding and proactive management of river channel pollution due to silting but also underscores the pivotal role of advanced modeling methodologies in the preservation of our invaluable water resources for present and future generations.

Salinization and land degradation are significant challenges in the southern regions of Kazakhstan. These issues arise due to climate change, unequal water resource distribution, and human impact. The primary concern revolves around water resources, which are influenced by the area’s trans boundary flow of major rivers. The low level of water and food security has pushed the development of new approaches based on remote sensing monitoring and geographic information systems (GIS) to provide solutions for soil salinity. The research aims to focus on utilizing high-resolution radar images. This data type is effective for cloudy weather and can be useful for continued monitoring of some areas. Machine learning methods can solve the problem of automatic mapping of agricultural land salinity in Kazakhstan’s southern regions. The precise mapping of the salinity area helps prevent or decrease salinity’s impact on agriculture. The experiment realized that complex models such as LightGBM do not have significant accuracy performance over simple models on a small dataset compared with Ridge regression. The results allow us to recommend an approach for further improvement with ground-based measurement data and other deep-learning methods for mapping the salinity of agricultural lands.

The goal of this work is to create an intelligent internet of things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system that will effectively monitor and analyze water parameters, collect real-time data, and provide critical information for decision-making in water management and environmental issues. Provide data transfer over wireless networks such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The scientific novelty of the project lies in the development of an innovative system that combines modern IoT technologies and machine learning methods to provide comprehensive and accurate water quality monitoring, which is a significant contribution to water management and environmental safety. Five sensors are connected to Arduino-Mega 2560, ESP-32-E in a discrete manner to determine water parameters. The extracted sensor data is transferred to a desktop application developed on the Blynk App platform and compared with World Health Organization (WHO) standard values. Based on the measurement results, the proposed system can successfully analyze water parameters using the fast forest binary classifier to determine whether the tested water sample is potable or not. An intuitive user interface has been created that will allow users to monitor and analyze water quality data in real time. Provide the ability to create graphs, charts, and reports for visual presentation of data.
