Precision farming is one of the ways of transition to the intensive methods of agricultural production. The case of application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for solving problems of agriculture and animal husbandry is among the actively studied issues. The UAV is capable of solving the tasks of monitoring, fertilizing, herbicides, etc. However, the effective use of UAV requires to solve the tasks of flight planning, taking into account the heterogeneity of the available attachments and the problem solved in the process of the overflight. This research investigates the problem of flight planning of a group of heterogeneous UAVs applied to solving the issues of coverage, which may arise both in the course of monitoring and in the process of the implementation of agrotechnical measures. The method of coverage path planning of heterogenic UAVs group based on a genetic algorithm is proposed; this method provides planning of flight by a group of UAVs using a moving ground platform on which UAVs are recharged and refueled (multi heterogenic UAVs coverage path planning with moving ground platform (mhCPPgp)). This method allows calculating a fly by to solve the task of covering fields of different shapes and permits selecting the optimal subset of UAVs from the available set of devices; it also provides a 10% reduction in the cost of a flyby compared to an algorithm that does not use heterogeneous UAVs or a moving platform.
Smart farming technology is becoming of the actual topics in the modern world of technology. Contemporary farming technology expands robot applications by using AI for the recognition of variable patterns. Moreover, the agriculture field demands a safety robot, due to the fragile surrounded confined space and it must be adaptable to extremely constrained working environments. Therefore, this research paper presents a novel tomato harvesting robot arm based on a continuum robot structure. The proposed continuum robot arm flexible backbone structure provides safety and efficient work in a confined workspace. This research paper consists of three parts: the first part of the paper contains the robot design and the newly designed tomato harvesting gripper tool. The second part of the paper describes the machine learning part for detecting matured tomatoes and the distance measuring technique with a single camera. The third part of the research paper explains robot kinematics and control algorithms. The final part of the research paper explains the experimental results. As a result of the conducted experiment, the tomato harvesting speed of the proposed robot was 56 s for a single tomato. Meanwhile, the tomato recognition accuracy was 96 percent.
Salinization of cultivated soil is an important negative factor that reduces crop yields. Obtaining accurate and timely data on the salinity of soil horizons allows for planning the agrotechnical measures to reduce this negative impact. The method of soil salinity mapping of the 0–30 cm layer on irrigated arable land with the help of multispectral data received from the UAV is described in this article. The research was carried out in the south of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan. In May 2022, 80 soil samples were taken from the ground survey, and overflight of two adjacent fields was performed. The flight was carried out using a UAV equipped with a multispectral camera. The data preprocessing method is proposed herein, and several machine learning algorithms are compared (XGBoost, LightGBM, random forest, support vector machines, ridge regression, elastic net, etc.). Machine learning methods provided regression reconstruction to predict the electrical conductivity of the 0–30 cm soil layer based on an optimized list of spectral indices. The XGB regressor model showed the best quality results: the coefficient of determination was 0.701, the mean-squared error was 0.508, and the mean absolute error was 0.514. A comparison with the results obtained based on Landsat 8 data using a similar model was performed. Soil salinity mapping using UAVs provides much better spatial detailing than satellite data and has the possibility of an arbitrary selection of the survey time, less dependence on the conditions of cloud cover, and a comparable degree of accuracy of estimates.
This paper aims to increase the accuracy of Kazakh handwriting text recognition (KHTR) using the generative adversarial network (GAN), where a handwriting word image generator and an image quality discriminator are constructed. In order to obtain a high-quality image of handwritten text, the multiple losses are intended to encourage the generator to learn the structural properties of the texts. In this case, the quality discriminator is trained on the basis of the relativistic loss function. Based on the proposed structure, the resulting document images not only preserve texture details but also generate different writer styles, which provides better OCR performance in public databases. With a self-created dataset, images of different types of handwriting styles were obtained, which will be used when training the network. The proposed approach allows for a character error rate (CER) of 11.15% and a word error rate (WER) of 25.65%.

Soil salinity is one of the major impact factors on agriculture in the South of Kazakhstan. Prediction and estimation of soil salinity before planting a season usually helps to plan for the leaching of the salt. In the paper, satellite data, such as radar data and machine learning algorithms,...
The paper proposes an approach to assessing the allowed signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for light detection and ranging (LiDAR) of unmanned autonomous vehicles based on the predetermined probability of false alarms under various intentional and unintentional influencing factors. The focus of this study is on the relevant issue of the safe use of LiDAR data and measurement systems within the “smart city” infrastructure. The research team analyzed and systematized various external impacts on the LiDAR systems, as well as the state-of-the-art approaches to improving their security and resilience. It has been established that the current works on the analysis of external influences on the LiDARs and methods for their mitigation focus mainly on physical (hardware) approaches (proposing most often other types of modulation and optical signal frequencies), and less often software approaches, through the use of additional anomaly detection techniques and data integrity verification systems, as well as improving the efficiency of data filtering in the cloud point. In addition, the sources analyzed in this paper do not offer methodological support for the design of the LiDAR in the very early stages of their creation, taking into account a priori assessment of the allowed SNR threshold and probability of detecting a reflected pulse and the requirements to minimize the probability of “missing” an object when scanning with no a priori assessments of the detection probability characteristics of the LiDAR. The authors propose a synthetic approach as a mathematical tool for designing a resilient LiDAR system. The approach is based on the physics of infrared radiation, the Bayesian theory, and the Neyman–Pearson criterion. It features the use of a predetermined threshold for false alarms, the probability of interference in the analytics, and the characteristics of the LiDAR’s receivers. The result is the analytical solution to the problem of calculating the allowed SNR while stabilizing the level of “false alarms” in terms of background noise caused by a given type of interference. The work presents modelling results for the “false alarm” probability values depending on the selected optimality criterion. The efficiency of the proposed approach has been proven by the simulation results of the received optical power of the LiDAR’s signal based on the calculated SNR threshold and noise values.
