The modern development of renewable energy (RE) is largely associated with significant government intervention in the market. Direct support programs have had a direct impact on the de facto construction of industry infrastructure. In this regard, it is important to have an analytical understanding of the bases that determine the readiness of a state to support initiatives in a market, especially in such a turbulent one as in developing countries. The aim of this study is to identify the factors influencing government support for renewable energy production in China, India, and Russia. The research methodology is based on determining the factors of development of renewable energy using a survey of 57 experts and the regression models of the influence of renewable energy on the resulting indicators of the countries under study. The proposed methodological approach provides an opportunity for a qualitative and quantitative assessment of state support of renewable energy production in the studied countries. The results of the study demonstrate that the key drivers of influence on the renewable energy market are expanding access to financing for renewable energy sources, reducing the share of traditional energy sources and ensuring public-private support for renewable energy projects. Using correlation-regression modeling, the relationship between the socio-economic indicators of the studied countries and the main indicators of the development of renewable energy (the number of renewable energy business entities, facilities, and their total installed capacity) was determined. The modeling based on regression equations shows that renewable energy in the studied countries has favorable prerequisites for development, but their implementation requires purposeful and coordinated actions on the part of government and business.

The stochastic approach as a method for modeling factor systems of interrelationships of economic activity aspects allows minimizing managerial errors against the background of company growth and expansion of operating activities. The purpose of this study is to form a decision-making model to ensure the financial competitiveness of enterprises in the context of stochastic analysis. This study demonstrates stochastic analysis implementation in companies of the 2nd and 3rd degrees of internationalization based on multiple regression and factorial analysis of variance. The practical basis of the study was Chinese and Russian mining enterprises that enter highly competitive markets and therefore should avoid mistakes in decision-making as much as possible. The model of financial competitiveness proposed in the article demonstrates the best ways to introduce stochastics in companies to optimize their overall productivity, regardless of the country of origin. In a practical sense, research on reducing managerial mistakes allows enterprises to have financial success even in the turbulent conditions of today’s global market, regardless of the company’s jurisdiction.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors determining the behavioral intention of using food delivery apps (FDAs) during COVID-19 pandemics, under a case study of Bangkok, Thailand. The study was necessitated by the increased use of FDAs during the lockdown; online transactions were considered important in preventing the spread of the virus. The study used quantitative techniques involving structural equation model (SEM) to evaluate the effects of exogenous variables on endogenous variables. Primary data were collected from people who had installed and used FDAs. The findings indicated that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, timeliness, task technology fit, perceived trust, and perceived safety significantly influence the behavioral intention to use (BIU) to use food delivery apps during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, effort should be intensified to study and understand FDAs as it pertains to safety and usage.

The aspiration of this study was to examine the impact of foreign direct investments (FDI) and economic growth on environmental degradation in the Balkans for the period 1998–2019. Balkan countries were classified into two groups, high income countries (HIC) and upper-middle income countries (UMIC). Thus, two hypotheses have been set. The effect of FDI on environmental degradation was observed through pollution haven hypothesis (PHH). To examine that connection, we used Pearson correlation for all countries, HIC and UMIC. Furthermore, the impact of economic growth on environmental degradation was tested through the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis. For that purpose, polynomial linear regression was applied. In order to examine the dependence of environmental degradation in relation to all predictors in the model, a multivariate linear regression was used. PHH was confirmed in Serbia, Albania, Croatia, Romania, and Bulgaria, the Balkans as a whole, and HIC, and the EKC hypothesis was rejected. This paper represents a contribution to a very scarce number of studies regarding the impact of FDI and economic growth on the environment in the Balkans, as a whole. The results of this study can be useful to policy makers in the terms of inducting stricter environmental rules.

This study examines the impact of rule of law and government size under the dimensions of economic freedom to the social and financial efficiency of microfinance institutions (MFIs) from Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia 2011 to 2018. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach has been applied to identify the efficiency level of MFIs. At the same time, the Pooled Ordinary Least Square (PoOLS) and Generalized Least Square (GeLS) methods comprising the Fixed Effect (FEMod) and Random Effect (REMod) models are used to examine the impact of dimensions of economic freedom and potential determinants on the efficiency level of MFIs. Overall, the results revealed that the technical efficiencies for both social and financial efficiency are contaminated by managerial inefficiency, which is measured by pure technical efficiency. This indicates, although the MFIs had been operating on a relatively optimal scale, they were facing the inefficiency from the managerial side. Besides, the results from the panel regression analysis have implied that both property rights and government integrity under the measurement of rule of law positively influence the MFIs’ financial efficiency. Meanwhile, the impact of government size shows both tax burden and government spending are significantly positive to the social efficiency of MFIs. As the policy implication, the information provides suggestion to the government on how its role can help in improving the efficiency level of MFIs and implements some useful initiatives to help MFIs to sustain in the long term. In addition to that policymakers can identify the relevant inputs of MFIs and thus revise the policy accordingly and design new policies and regulations based on different economic freedom dimensions. The results of the present study provide a reference to guide them in decision making on their investments. For academicians or researchers, they can obtain more information regarding the efficiency of MFIs that is valuable for further research or study.

Measurement of job stress and employees’ commitment are few of the admired topics in the corporate world amongst business writers. With a principal aim to trial the blow of exposure to COVID-19 patients on doctors’ job stress and commitment, in Pakistan; data have been collected through 7-10 min telephonic interview from voluntary participants and a sample of 129 responses were analyzed by Structure Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) path modeling through Smart PLS 3.2. The results of the study indicated; direct positive & significant impact of Extent of Exposure on Job Stress while direct negative, significant association with Commitment. Job Stress also observed having direct negative impact on commitment. The Extent of Exposure-Job Stress relationship was also found stronger among group of doctors having Low level of Perceived Organizational Support and weaker among group of doctors having High level of Perceive Organizational support. Perceived Organizational Support showed a moderating effect on the Extent of Exposure-Job Stress relationship; while, Social Support showed no moderation. Researchers are required to investigate more and management of the medical services providers (both hospitals and government) needs to focus on doctors’ perception about Organizational Support, as doctors show no concern about the support from society as long as their well-being is cared for by respective hospitals. This study is an effort to stimulate more empirical evidence towards the treating and handling of COVID-19 patients and the psychological well-being of doctors.

Several economists assume natural resources as crucial and essential for economic growth. However, the other group of researchers questions the role and states that richness of natural resources does not guarantee economic growth. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the effect of natural resources on economic growth using time series data from 1970 to 2018. The current study has applied a novel methodology of quantile-on-quantile regression in top five selected Asian economies which have the most natural resources in the region. The findings confirm that natural resources have a positive and significant impact on economic growth in all countries, except India. The findings confirm that the effect of natural resources on economic growth is negative and significant in the Indian economy. The findings affirm that in most of the countries, the results are significant and positive on the high quantiles of natural resources and economic growth, suggesting that the higher the rent of natural resources leads to the higher the economic performance of five selected Asian economies. Based on the findings, government and policymakers are recommended to formulate the policy that provides a platform to use the NR in a better and efficient manner, which can help the country to boost the economic performance.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, everyone wants to enhance and advance their working and personal life and mobile phones have become the favoured technology to achieve that aim. In light of this trend, most financial service providers have taken steps to meet this new lifestyle demand by developing mobile applications so that people can manage their financial matters on the go. This movement has also motivated many merchants around the world to adopt mobile technology as part of their aspiration to provide a better experience for their customers. This study explores the factors influencing Malaysian merchants’ acceptance of mobile payment as an additional payment method to the traditionally accepted payment methods of cash and credit/debit cards. The aim of this study is to figure out the factors affecting merchants’ decision to use mobile payments to help the provider companies shape their own marketing plans and consider the weak points that may turn the merchants against this marktet. This empirical study uses a survey method and AMOS to test and analyse the perceptions of a sample of 125 food and beverage providers located in food courts in 10 shopping malls at the Klang Valley in Malaysia. The study found that perceived usefulness has a significant positive impact on mobile payment acceptance, while the perceived ease of use has no significant impact on the merchants’ decision to offer this payment method, which is not compatible with the technology acceptance model (TAM). In addition, this study added a further two factors to the TAM to investigate their effects on merchants’ acceptance of mobile payments and found a significant positive effect for compatibility with customers’ needs but no significant effect for perceived risk, which can be justified by the nature of this industry. This study, therefore, provides invaluable insights into the factors affecting merchants’ acceptance of mobile payments, especially food and beverages providers in food courts located in shopping malls of Malaysia.

The objective of the current examination is to identify the dynamic relationship between the textile industry and energy intensity. The study evaluates the asymmetric impact of textile manufacturing on energy intensity in leading Asian economies based on textile dominance. China, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam are dominant in textile manufacturing. In the present study we used yearly textiles and clothing data from top ten selected Asian textile manufacturing countries from 1990 to 2018. The results of quantile-on-quantile regression (QQ) confirmed that textiles and clothing (T&C) production have a positive and significant impact on energy intensity in all countries. The results further suggested that a low level of T&C production increases the level of energy intensity in all selected countries. On the other hand, the results of Granger causality in quantiles confirm a bidirectional causal relationship between T&C production and energy intensity in all selected countries except Thailand and Japan, where a uni-directional causal connection between textile and clothing manufacturing and energy intensity can also be found. This study recommends that governments and investors need to invest more in green and advanced technologies to reduce the energy intensity in Asian economies.

The purpose of the current study is to examine the mediating role of organizational learning on a firm’s capabilities, corporate governance, leadership styles, and the firm’s sustainability. Moreover, the innovative culture used as a moderating variable between organizational learning and the firm’s sustainability. Data were collected from manufacturing organizations operating in Malaysia. This study used simple random sampling technique in data collection. Cross-sectional design and correlational design were used in meeting the objectives of the research. There were 550 questionnaires distributed among respondents, and only 382 questionnaires were returned back, 15 questionnaires were excluded from the 382 questionnaires because of misleading and missing values. Hence, in the final analysis, only 367 questionnaires were used. Findings reveal that organizational capabilities and corporate governance significantly enhance both organizational learning and a firm’s sustainability. Moreover, leadership styles significantly enhance organizational learning but have no influence on a firm’s sustainability. Organizational learning significantly mediates between organizational capabilities, corporate governance, leadership styles, and the firm’s sustainability. Organizational learning also has a significant influence on the firm’s sustainability. Finally, innovative culture significantly moderates between organizational learning and the firm’s sustainability. The practical contribution of this research is that the top management can focus on these indicators in measuring firm’s sustainability.

Human resource management (HRM) is one of the elements enabling an organization to remain competitive in turbulence conditions. The effective practice of HRM makes competent and innovative employees contributing to the achievement of organizational objectives. This study aims to analyze HRM practices in creating innovation and organizational performance. The questionnaire was used to measure the respondents’ perceptions of variables used by a Likert scale. A survey of 126 manager samples and middle managers at export-oriented short and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bali, Indonesia, was conducted to test the model. The analysis has shown that the proposed model was proven to be compliant with the research hypotheses. HRM significantly affects organizational performance and innovation, and it was found out that innovation can improve organizational performance. However, in the process of simultaneous testing, it was found out that innovation cannot improve organizational performance. The lack of attention to investments in human resources became one of the barriers to SMEs in creating innovation.

Background and Purpose: This study investigates the impact of environmental reporting on speed of adjustment and adjustment costs which is evaluated based on the ability of firms to adjust to target leverage level for non-financial firms listed in the Malaysian Stock Exchange (Bursa Malaysia). Design/Methodology/ Approach: The study selects Malaysian firms based on the contracting and political cost of the economy which is seen as a relationship-based economy. This in turn influences a firm’s ability to obtain external financing and thus has an important impact on capital structure decisions. In addition, the method employed allows for a direct measure on adjustment cost for firms. The current study utilises a dynamic regime switching model based on the DPF estimator to estimate rate of adjustment to optimal target levels based on the distinction of environmental reporting of public listed firms. The approach allows statistical inferences to control for potential serial correlation, endogeneity and heterogeneity concerns which accounts for firm specific characteristics. Results: The empirical findings suggest voluntary disclosure on environmental reporting increases a firm’s ability to access external financing at a cheaper cost as evidenced by a more rapid rate of adjustment. The findings are consistent across differing endogenous and exogenous factors indicating that these firms tend to face lower adjustment costs. Conclusion: The current study provides a direct measure on the ability of firms to adjust to target levels via security issues and repurchases in the capital markets. This in turn is a reflection of perceived riskiness and value from the investors’ point of view in an emerging market. Prior studies have focused on environmental reporting and equity risk premiums and have not evaluated the direct impact on firm value given that the trade-off theory of capital structure predicts that firm value is maximised at target i.e. optimal levels of leverage. This study addresses the current gap in the literature by evaluating the impact on firms’ value, based on the adjustment cost.

The Indonesian government reforms in healthcare shift the management philosophy of healthcare from sellers’ market to consumers’ demand that providing high-quality service and achieving a patient’s satisfaction become critical issues. Currently, service quality performance (SERVPERF) has been gaining popularity for measuring patient satisfaction instead of the classic SERVQUAL due to the critics that one cannot examine customer expectations, but only the level of quality of the received and realised service. The main objective of this research is to examine the effect of the service quality on the entire satisfaction of outpatients toward radiology facilities in public hospitals of South Kalimantan province, Indonesia. The primary data consisted of 360 outpatients serving as respondents and the relationship among constructs are analysed using partial least square (PLS). The developed model was validated by identifying service quality performance of the respective healthcare and rating the domain demanding the executive endeavour to improve. The results denoted that the dimensions of SERVPERF are accurate in the south east Asian country of Indonesia. Reliability, tangibility, assurance, empathy and responsiveness were rated as preferences, respectively. Since the highest form of satisfaction is displayed in the form of patients’ loyalty, the scheme of applying service quality betterment to preserve patient trustworthiness then relies on the degree of patient contentment. This phenomenon suggests that the assessment of patient preferences would embrace the standing point of patients’ satisfaction with healthcare providers.

Achieving financial sustainability is the most important strategic task of the state in a turbulent global economic environment. The purpose of this study was to identify the patterns of development and peculiarities of the tax situation in Russia. The authors determined the most effective approaches for the formation of the tax system that would ensure the financial sustainability of the state in conditions of economic transition. This study examined the existing features and patterns of the formation of the Russian tax system. The ways and instruments to achieve financial stability were considered. As an example, it was decided to take into account the international practices of the most successful states in terms of tax (according to the Doing Business methodology)—namely, the USA, Ireland, France, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Sweden and Norway. A list of conditions is proposed, the implementation of which might ensure the transformation of the Russian financial system in terms of sustainability. This article also demonstrates changes in the economic infrastructure of the Russian Federation and indicates possible scenarios for the development of the tax system. This study determines that the tax system is largely shaped by the information environment. Therefore, digitalization processes can serve as a catalyst for the achievement of financial sustainability by the state. The choice of tools for the internal reform of public finances is situational. However, strategic transformation (in terms of macro-level sustainability) can be achieved by performing a number of universal steps. The implementation of the latter creates not only a positive effect from the introduction of new approaches, but primarily minimizes the impact of existing negative phenomena and trends. The tax system of the Russian Federation can be optimized by consolidating sustainable development indicators in the legal acts. The latter is an important step towards achieving financial sustainability.
