This study investigates the pH values and optical characteristics of Dual Rinse HEDP, either independently or combined with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), and compares them to other irrigants used in endodontics. The solutions used in this study were commercially acquired and prepared, followed by pH measurements using a pH meter and spectral analysis using UV/Vis spectrophotometry in specified wavelengths of the ultraviolet (UV) C (190–280 nm), UVB (281–315 nm), UVA (316–400 nm), visible light (VL) (401–780 nm), and near-infrared (NIR) spectra (781–1100 nm). The pH analysis revealed alkaline values for NaOCl, EDTA, Dual Rinse HEDP, and the HEDP + NaOCl combination, an acidic value for citric acid, and nearly neutral values for chlorhexidine and distilled water. Spectral analysis revealed the notable absorption characteristics of endodontic irrigants. In the UV range, all solutions exhibited higher absorption values to water (p < 0.05), with Dual Rinse HEDP resembling EDTA and citric acid, and HEDP + NaOCl resembling NaOCl. The NIR region highlights absorption peaks around 975 nm for all solutions, including NaOCl and Dual Rinse HEDP + NaOCl, suggesting potential applications in laser-activated irrigation. This study provides comprehensive insights into the pH and optical features of endodontic irrigants, emphasizing their potential roles in enhancing disinfection strategies and optimizing laser-activated irrigation protocols.

Vital pulp therapy aims to preserve pulp vitality by stimulating reparative processes. However, conventional approaches often result in incomplete tissue regeneration. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as promising cell-free therapeutic agents because of their ability to regulate angiogenesis, odontogenesis, and immune responses through the transfer of bioactive molecules. Despite their significant regenerative potential, the clinical application of EVs remains limited by rapid clearance, insufficient local retention, and uncontrolled release following administration. To address these challenges, various extracellular matrix (ECM)-based and ECM-bioinspired scaffolds have been developed as delivery platforms. These scaffolds can provide structural support and enable controlled, localized release of EVs. This narrative review critically evaluates the current evidence regarding scaffold systems as EV delivery platforms for dental pulp regeneration, comparing their biological performance, methodological quality, and translational potential. Across the available studies, scaffold-assisted EV delivery consistently enhanced angiogenesis, odontogenic differentiation, mineralization, and immunomodulation; however, the evidence remains preclinical and is characterized by substantial heterogeneity regarding EV source, isolation and characterization methods, scaffold composition, experimental models, and outcome assessment. Current findings support the feasibility of scaffold-assisted EV delivery for regenerative endodontics, but important challenges remain, including standardization of EV production and characterization, scalable manufacturing, regulatory approval, and demonstration of long-term safety and functional pulp–dentin complex regeneration. Further well-designed translational and clinical studies will be essential before routine clinical implementation can be considered.

Introduction/Objective. Aim was to evaluate the push-out bond strength to root canal dentine and radiopacity of three different sealers: Adseal (Meta Biomed Co., Cheongju-si, South Korea), CeraSeal (Meta Biomed Co.) and control AH Plus (Dentsply Sirona, Charlotte, NC, USA). Methods. In nine dentin discs, 1 mm thickness, three holes, 1.2 mm diameter, were drilled in with a fissure carbide bur. Discs were immersed in 0.5% NaOCl and 10% citric acid respectively, for 60 seconds rinsed and dried. Every hole was filled with different sealer. Specimens were wrapped in gauze previously immersed in Hank?s balanced salt solution at 37?C/seven days. The push-out test was performed using universal testing machine at a cross-head speed of 1 mm/min. The radiopacity was tested (ISO 6876/2012 standard). Three sealer specimens, 5 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick were prepared and radiographed using radiovisiography system (CCD sensor, Trophy Radiologie, Marne-la-Vallee, France) with graded aluminum step-wedge. Gray-scale value was assessed using Adobe Photoshop CS7 (Adobe Inc. San Jose, CA, USA). Results. Mean values of push-out bond strength were 5.21 ? 0.87 MPa (Adseal), 0.06 ? 0.02 MPa (CeraSeal), and 3.13 ? 0.38 MPa (AH Plus). A statistically significant difference in push-out bond strength was observed among all three sealer groups (p < 0.05). Adseal exhibited the strongest bond strength to root canal dentine. All sealers achieved radiopacity over 3 mm, with statistically significant difference among the groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion. The epoxy-based sealer Adseal showed higher bond strength compared to AH Plus and calcium silicate-based sealer CeraSeal, which, expectedly, showed the weakest dislocation resistance. All three sealers fulfilled the ISO standard to be distinguished on dental radiogram.

Statement of problem: The stereo-optical method can be used for assessment of strains and deformations of different fixed or removable prosthodontic constructions. Material and methods: The study used two master casts of a lower jaw with bilateral terminal edentulous seats. Their topography was identical, with missing lower molars, the left lower second premolar, and the right canine and incisors, indicating a partially edentulous lower jaw according to Eichner's B3 (and C2) classification (i.e. Kennedy class 1). The control cast had conventional oval copings for overdenture. The experimental cast was almost the same as the control, with the exception of the surfaces simulating three specific milled copings covering the remaining tooth substance. Controlled loading was measured using a gnathodynamometer. Loading stages were at 400, 800, and 1000 N. Measurements of strain and displacement were provided by the Digital Image Correlation Method and the associated software. ‘Wilcoxon Lambda’ two sample tests based on the simple linear rank statistics were used in the analysis of differences in the displacement and deformation between the control rounded and experimental milled copings under loading numerical values. Results: It was found that smaller values of deformations are measured on milled copings when compared to the controls. There were statistically significant differences in displacement between the control rounded and experimental milled copings (Pr > |Z| = 0.001) as well as in deformations (Pr > |Z| = 0.0298). Conclusions: Experimental milled copings are less susceptible to deformation compared to the control conventional oval copings. These findings may have clinical significance in improvements of primary and secondary retention of overdentures on milled copings.

Introduction/Aim. Essential Science Indicators (ESI) Highly Cited Papers (HCPs) refer to the most influential scientific articles and breakthrough research within a research field in the past decade. This study aimed to identify the characteristics of ESI HCPs in the subject category Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Medicine, to recognize authors, institutions and countries of origin, and determine research trends that attracted the most scientific interest in dentistry. Methods. A descriptive analysis of bibliographic data, network extraction and visualization were completed. Furthermore, analyzed ESI HCPs were classified according to a field of interest, main research domain, type of study, and level of evidence. Results. The set of 185 dental HCPs was published in 42 journals from 2010 to 2020, with an average number of 211.7 citations per paper. Nearly half of HCPs were issued by the Journal of Dental Research, Dental Materials, and Journal of Clinical Periodontology. There were 765 authors affiliated with 351 institutions from 42 countries. The most productive institutions were the University of Hong Kong, the University of Michigan, and the University of Bern. The USA contributed with the highest number of publications, followed by China, and the United Kingdom. Dental Materials, Dental Implantology, Periodontology, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery represented areas of significant interest within this subject category. The highest proportion of HCPs were narrative and systematic reviews, expert opinions, consensus reports, and in vitro /lab studies. Conclusion. Results obtained from this study can provide valuable information for researchers to better identify present and future hotspots in dental research.
