Background: Removable prostheses have seen a fundamental change recently because of advances in polymer materials, allowing improved durability and performance. Despite these advancements, notable differences still occur amongst various polymer materials and processing technologies, requiring a thorough grasp of their mechanical, physical, and therapeutic implications. The compressive strength of dentures manufactured using various technologies will be investigated. Methods: Traditional, injection molding, and additive and subtractive CAD/CAM processing techniques, all utilizing Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as the main material, were used to construct complete dentures. The specimens underwent a compressive mechanical test, which reveals the differences in compressive strength. Results: All the specimens broke under the influence of a certain force, rather than yielding through flow, as is characteristic for plastic materials. For each specimen, the maximum force (N) was recorded, as well as the breaking energy. The mean force required to break the dentures for each processing technology is as follows: 4.54 kN for traditional packing-press technique, 17.92 kN for the injection molding technique, 1.51 kN for the additive CAD/CAM dentures, and 5.9 kN for the subtractive CAD/CAM dentures. Conclusions: The best results were obtained in the case of the thermoplastic injection system and the worst results were recorded in the case of 3D printed samples. Another important aspect depicted is the standard deviation for each group, which reveal a relatively unstable property for the thermoplastic injected dentures. Good results here in terms of absolute property and stability of the property can be conferred to CAD/CAM milled group.

Despite high aesthetics, shade of full ceramic restoration can be a difficult task specially in case of anterior single crown restorations. For the first group, ten ceramic crowns for anterior teeth were made from IPS e.max Cem. The pressed ceramic cores were veneered with feldspathic ceramic IPS e.max.Ceram. For the second group were milled ten samples zirconium oxide cores and veneered with feldspathic ceramic IPS e.max.Ceram. The evaluation of core influence over the final shade is checked with a spectrophotometer and standard shade guide. The shades of the samples of two groups were registered in three areas of the buccal surface: third incisal, third middle and third cervical. The shades were digitally registered with Vita Easy Shade Compact and with standard Vital Classical shade guide. Samples that require accurately individualized aesthetics may encounter final shade modification. The digital system for shade registration have high precision and avoid human error.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to present and describe a digital workflow integrating Digital Smile Design (DSD) with computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and additive manufacturing technologies for the fabrication of dental preparation guides, focusing on workflow feasibility, design reproducibility, and clinical handling. Materials and Methods: A digital workflow was implemented using intraoral scanning and Exocad DentalCAD 3.1 Elefsina software to design dental preparation guides based on digitally planned restorations. Preparation margins, insertion paths, and minimal material thickness were defined virtually. The guides were fabricated using both subtractive (PMMA milling) and additive (stereolithographic-based 3D printing) manufacturing techniques. Post-processing included chemical cleaning, support removal, additional light curing, and manual finishing. The evaluation was qualitative and descriptive, based on visual inspection, workflow performance, and guide adaptation to printed models. Results: The proposed digital workflow was associated with consistent fabrication of preparation guides and predictable transfer of the virtual design to the manufactured guides. Digital planning facilitated clear visualization of preparation margins and insertion axes, supporting controlled and minimally invasive tooth preparation. The workflow demonstrated good reproducibility and efficient communication between clinician and dental technician. No quantitative measurements or statistical analyses were performed. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this qualitative feasibility study, the integration of DSD with CAD/CAM and 3D printing technologies represents a viable digital approach for designing and fabricating dental preparation guides. The workflow shows potential for improving predictability and communication in restorative dentistry.

Background: Neonatal sepsis associated with severe morbidity and mortality defines the systemic condition arising from the bacterial, viral, fungal origin associated with hemodynamic and clinical alterations. Symptomatology can be different, from subclinical to severe, focal or systemic disease. The causal agent comes from maternal flora or can be of community/hospital origin. Material and method: Our retrospective study evaluated 121 newborns (both preterm and term), divided into three groups: early onset sepsis (35), late onset sepsis (39), and control group (47), from 0 to 28 days old. Blood samples and cultures were collected at admission, after 24 hours, and 72 hours. Results: The two-sample Wilcoxon signed rank test revealed a statistically significant difference between the initial and final measures of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and ferritin within the early onset sepsis (EOS) and late onset sepsis (LOS) groups. No significant differences were observed for those two variables within the control group. There were significant differences for first and last measurements of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) (p = 0.029), leukocyte count (p = 0.002), and platelets (TR) (p = 0.00001). Conclusions: Ferritin is a potential biomarker that can be associated with systemic response and sepsis in both cases of early and late onset sepsis.

Aim and objectives Dental practice is tending to remove the metallic component of fix partial prosthesis due to unfavourable mechanical behaviour. The polymers are used for prosthesis with metal free infrastructures and optimal function. Material and methods Polymers used for provisional prosthesis can be used with different technologies and have different mechanism of initiating the polymerization. Thermoplastic and chemoplastic polymers need different technologies and technological alternatives are: subtractive CAD-CAM, milling, printing technology and polymers injection. Results The chosen materials and manufacturing technologies may influence the success of the final prosthetic treatment. The standard and quality of provisional restoration is decisive for a successful prosthetic treatment. Conclusions Materials used are highly biocompatible and resistant to dental plaque adhesion. Present polymers induce low periodontal inflammation due to the lack of residual monomers.
