In the light of recent developments regarding electric vehicle market share, we assess the carbon footprint and water footprint of electric vehicles and provide a comparative analysis of energy use from the grid to charge electric vehicle batteries in the Czech Republic. The analysis builds on the electricity generation forecast for the Czech Republic for 2015–2050. The impact of different sources of electricity supply on carbon and water footprints were analyzed based on electricity generation by source for the period. Within the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the carbon footprint was calculated using the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) method, while the water footprint was determined by the Water Scarcity method. The computational LCA model was provided by the SimaPro v. 8.5 package with the Ecoinvent v. 3 database. The functional unit of study was running an electric vehicle over 100 km. The system boundary covered an electric vehicle life cycle from cradle to grave. For the analysis, we chose a vehicle powered by a lithium-ion battery with assumed consumption 19.9 kWh/100 km. The results show that electricity generated to charge electric vehicle batteries is the main determinant of carbon and water footprints related to electric vehicles in the Czech Republic. Another important factor is passenger car production. Nuclear power is the main determinant of the water footprint for the current and future electric vehicle charging, while, currently, lignite and hard coal are the main determinants of carbon footprint.

The paper deals with comprehensive quality and physical parameters of commercial cokes. It aims to present comparative analysis of acquired values with standards found in other literature sources. There were analysed 15 samples of coke from current industrial operation. There were carried out chemical analysis, CSR and CRI characterization. Density, porosity, compressive strength, friction coefficient, volume of particles were determined. There was performed one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) by Statistica v.12.0 (StatSoft, Inc., Tulsa, USA) to determine significant correlation between the measured parameters. The highest correlation coefficents were noted between the pycnometer density of cokes and CSR index (r = 0.925) and CRI index (r = −0.828). The comparative analysis of quality and physical parameters with values mentioned in literature revealed the significant differences in the values of apparent density, bulk density and true density of pulverized samples.

In the paper the evaluation of efficiency of the use of machines in the selected production company was presented. The OEE method (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) was used for the analysis. The selected company deals with the production of tapered roller bearings. The analysis of effectiveness was done for 17 automatic grinding lines working in the department of grinding rollers. Low level of efficiency of machines was affected by problems with the availability of machines and devices. The causes of machine downtime on these lines was also analyzed. Three basic causes of downtime were identified: no kanban card, diamonding, no operator. Ways to improve the use of these machines were suggested. The analysis takes into account the actual results from the production process and covers the period of one calendar year.
The paper deals with the computational life cycle assessment (LCA) model of electricity generation in the Czech Republic. The goal of the paper was to determine the environmental assessment of electricity generation. Taking into account the trend of electricity generation from 2000 to 2050, the paper was focused on electricity generation evaluation in this country in view of its current state and future perspectives. The computational LCA model was done using the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) method, which allowed the assessment of greenhouse gas emissions. For the assessment, 1 Mega-watt hour of the obtained electricity (MWhe) was used as a functional unit. The cradle-to-gate approach was employed. The system boundary covered all the technologies included in the electricity mix of the country. Resulting from the analysis, the solids, lignite in particular, was assessed as an energy source with the most negative impact on the emissions of greenhouse gas. This article results from international cooperation of a Czech-Polish team in the field of computational LCA models. It presents partial results of the team cooperation which serves as a base for following comparison of Czech and Polish systems of electricity generation.
Alternative sour2ces of energy are on the rise primarily because of environmental concerns, in addition to the depletion of fossil fuel reserves. Currently, there are many alternatives, approaches, and attempts to introduce alternative energy sources in the field of transport. This article centers around the need to explore additional energy sources beyond the current ones in use. It delves into individual energy sources that can be utilized for transportation, including their properties, production methods, and the advantages and disadvantages associated with their use across different types of drives. The article not only examines the situation in the Czech Republic but also in other nations. In addition to addressing future mobility, the thesis also considers how the utilization of new energy sources may impact the environment.

The unexpected emergence of the viral disease COVID-19 has caused many changes in all areas of life. People suffered from the fear of contracting the disease, which resulted in the decrease in the use of public passenger transport services. People’s uncertainty and frequently changing measures with a lack of information caused a shift of passengers from public passenger transport to individual transport. The analysis identified important criteria that passengers considered very important during the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to public transport. If these criteria are not met, passengers will not be willing to use public passenger transport and the use of individual transport will continue to grow. To ensure passenger satisfaction, new innovative software solutions have been analysed and then implemented into one specific solution. The proposed solution can meet the requirements of passengers, facilitate their travel using public passenger transport and provide them with regular information related to viral illnesses and important information and will ensure their satisfaction.
