Jin-Woo Ahn was born in 1958, in Busan, Korea. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from Pusan National University, Korea, in 1992. He has been with Kyungsung University, Busan, Korea, as a professor in the School of Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering since 1992. Prof. Ahn has been the Vice President of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE), as well as Director of the Smart Mechatronics Advanced Research and Technology (SMART) Institute and Senior Easy Life RIS (SeLRIS) Center. He is the author of five books and more than 300 papers, and he has more than 60 patents. His current research interests are advanced motors and electric vehicles. He received the Order of Science and Technology Merit from the President of the Republic of Korea, 2016, for his numerous contributions to electrical engineering. He has served as a Conference Chairman, including for the IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo Asia-Pacific 2016 Busan (ITEC-AP2016 Busan). He has served as an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Conference on Electric Machines and Systems (JICEMS). He is a senior member of the IEEE.
