The Republic of Serbia has numerous predispositions for the development of rural tourism, considering that it represents a factor in the revitalization of the surrounding rural areas. Development and orientation towards "rural Serbia" could bring numerous advantages that relate to stopping migration flows from rural areas to urban areas and provide revitalizing the agricultural sector and other complementary activities. The aim of paper is to point out the importance of rural tourism, as one of the priority products of the Republic of Serbia, through the analysis of the current level of its development, and predicting future trends that promote the future of rural tourism. The methodology includes an overview of the theoretical framework of rural tourism collection of existing statistical data, obtained on the basis of previous research.

Contemporary digital technologies have become key instruments in enhancing the security and sustainability of tourist destinations. This study explores the role of digital solutions such as smart surveillance systems, mobile applications, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in strengthening tourist safety and supporting long-term sustainable development. The theoretical framework is based on the Norm Activation Model (NAM), employing the constructs of Awareness of Consequences, Ascription of Responsibility, Personal Norms, and Behavioral Intention, expanded by the construct of Sustainability Outcomes. This research was conducted as a comparative case study of Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Belgrade (Serbia), using a structured questionnaire and quantitative analysis. The findings indicate that tourists’ perceptions of security, mediated by digital technologies, significantly shape their behavioural intentions and contribute to sustainable destination outcomes. The study provides theoretical implications for the advancement of the NAM in tourism, as well as practical guidelines for destination managers in developing a safe and sustainable environment.

The Municipality of Bač is a true treasure trove of authentic tourist attractions due to its turbulent centuries-old past with preserved heritage. That is why the topic of this paper is the cultural and historical factors important for tourism development in the Municipality of Bač. The paper aims to point out the current situation, but it also wants to identify the development potentials of the Municipality of Bač. The process of valuing the heritage of the Bač Fortress, the Bodjani Monastery, the Franciscan Monastery, and the Turkish Bath is based on scientific, cultural, educational, and touristic values. For the purposes of work from August 23 to September 30, 2022, a survey was conducted on a sample of 115 respondents from Bač - the seat of the municipality of the same name, as well as in other settlements of this municipality. The total cultural and touristic value of the authentic heritage exceeds the other average values at the location, while the scientific value is the lowest compared to all the other. Due to the devastation of the Turkish bath, the overall educational function is not satisfactory.

Plum brandy is one of the most recognizable symbols of Republic of Serbia. Production of plum brandy is recently on the UNESCO list and can be a very significant factor in the process of promoting the destination from the aspect of tourism. Looking at the current situation, through positive examples of practice and a review of the theoretical framework, the collection of statistical data obtained on the basis of previous research, it was observed that the destination of Podgorina has numerous predispositions for branding. The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of the formation of “The Rakija Šljivovica Route”, where the production of plum brandies would be a significant component of the branding process of the destination. In this way, permanent migration from rural to urban areas would be slowed down, the rich cultural heritage of this region, agriculture and traditional occupations would be revived.

This research analyzes the phenomenon of the reduction of urban green spaces in the post-socialist city. Belgrade was selected as a post-socialist city of the former Yugoslavia. The article analyses the views of urban planners on the reasons for the reduction of urban green areas in the post-socialist city based on semi-structured interviews with representative samples for urban areas. This result research confirms the hypothesis that post-socialist city planning reduces urban green areas due to the lack of new mechanisms in documents for the planning of urban green space. The concept of sustainability should connect and balance the skills of urban planners and focus on how urban planners develop and apply standards and protect them in market-democratic systems. In other words, a new mechanism of post-socialist city planning implies a balance between the private and public sectors. In the planning document, urban planners should find a common denominator between the public interest, citizens, investors, and spheres determined by the sustainable principles of the development. City institutions should provide opportunities for the application of those standards. With the new approach, planning would imply work in the service of citizens in the concepts of a sustainable and green city.

This paper examines the growing field of AI-assisted urban planning within the context of sustainable urban development, with a particular focus on spatial optimization of urban green spaces under conditions of scarcity, density, and economic pressure. While the economic, ecological, and social values of UGS are widely acknowledged, urban planners lack a cohesive, data-driven framework to quantify and spatially optimize these often-conflicting values for effective land-use optimization. To address this gap, we propose a methodology that combines Geographic Information Systems (GISs), the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and an Artificial Intelligence-Based Genetic Algorithm (AI-GA). Vračar was chosen as the case study area. Our approach evaluates (1) the economic value of UGS through housing prices; (2) the ecological value through UGS density; and (3) the social value by measuring access to urban green pockets. The integrated method simulates environmental scenarios and optimizes UGS placement for resilient urban areas. Results demonstrate that properties in mixed-use green areas proximate to urban parks have the highest economic and social value. Additionally, higher densities of UGS correlate with higher housing prices, highlighting the economic impact of green space distribution. The methodology enables planners to make decisions based on evidence that integrates statistical modeling, expert judgment, and artificial intelligence into one cohesive platform.
