Currently, small object detection in complex remote sensing environments faces significant challenges. The detectors designed for this scenario have limitations, such as insufficient extraction of spatial local information, inflexible feature fusion, and limited global feature acquisition capability. In addition, there is a need to balance performance and complexity when improving the model. To address these issues, this paper proposes an efficient and lightweight SCM-YOLO detector improved from YOLOv5 with spatial local information enhancement, multi-scale feature adaptive fusion, and global sensing capabilities. The SCM-YOLO detector consists of three innovative and lightweight modules: the Space Interleaving in Depth (SPID) module, the Cross Block and Channel Reweight Concat (CBCC) module, and the Mixed Local Channel Attention Global Integration (MAGI) module. These three modules effectively improve the performance of the detector from three aspects: feature extraction, feature fusion, and feature perception. The ability of SCM-YOLO to detect small objects in complex remote sensing environments has been significantly improved while maintaining its lightweight characteristics. The effectiveness and lightweight characteristics of SCM-YOLO are verified through comparison experiments with AI-TOD and SIMD public remote sensing small object detection datasets. In addition, we validate the effectiveness of the three modules, SPID, CBCC, and MAGI, through ablation experiments. The comparison experiments on the AI-TOD dataset show that the mAP50 and mAP50-95 metrics of SCM-YOLO reach 64.053% and 27.283%, respectively, which are significantly better than other models with the same parameter size.

In this paper, a tracking and pointing control system with dual-FSM (fast steering mirror) composite axis is proposed. It is applied to the target-tracking accuracy control in a 3D GISC LiDAR (three-dimensional ghost imaging LiDAR via sparsity constraint) system. The tracking and pointing imaging control system of the dual-FSM 3D GISC LiDAR proposed in this paper is a staring imaging method with multiple measurements, which mainly solves the problem of high-resolution remote-sensing imaging of high-speed moving targets when the technology is transformed into practical applications. In the research of this control system, firstly, we propose a method that combines motion decoupling and sensor decoupling to solve the mechanical coupling problem caused by the noncoaxial sensor installation of the FSM. Secondly, we suppress the inherent mechanical resonance of the FSM in the control system. Thirdly, we propose the optical path design of a dual-FSM 3D GISC LiDAR tracking imaging system to solve the problem of receiving aperture constraint. Finally, after sufficient experimental verification, our method is shown to successfully reduce the coupling from 7% to 0.6%, and the precision tracking bandwidth reaches 300 Hz. Moreover, when the distance between the GISC system and the target is 2.74 km and the target flight speed is 7 m/s, the tracking accuracy of the system is improved from 15.7 μrad (σ) to 2.2 μrad (σ), and at the same time, the system recognizes the target contour clearly. Our research is valuable to put the GISC technology into practical applications.

In this study, a tracking and pointing control system with a dual-FSM (fast steering mirror) two-dimensional flexible turntable composite axis is proposed. It is applied to the target-tracking accuracy control in a GI LiDAR (ghost imaging LiDAR) system. Ghost imaging is a multi-measurement imaging method; the dual-FSM GI LiDAR tracking and pointing imaging control system proposed in this study mainly solves the problems of the high-resolution remote sensing imaging of high-speed moving targets and various nonlinear disturbances when this technology is transformed into practical applications. Addressing the detrimental effects of nonlinear disturbances originating from internal flexible mechanisms and assorted external environmental factors on motion control’s velocity, stability, and tracking accuracy, a nonlinear active disturbance rejection control (NLADRC) method based on artificial neural networks is advanced. Additionally, to overcome the limitations imposed by receiving aperture constraints in GI LiDAR systems, a novel optical path design for the dual-FSM GI LiDAR tracking and imaging system is put forth. The implementation of the described methodologies culminated in the development of a dual-FSM GI LiDAR tracking and imaging system, which, upon thorough experimental validation, demonstrated significant improvements. Notably, it achieved an improvement in the coarse tracking accuracy from 193.29 μrad (3σ) to 87.21 μrad (3σ) and enhanced the tracking accuracy from 10.1 μrad (σ) to 1.5 μrad (σ) under specified operational parameters. Furthermore, the method notably diminished the overshoot during the target capture process from 28.85% to 12.8%, concurrently facilitating clear recognition of the target contour. This research contributes significantly to the advancement of GI LiDAR technology for practical application, showcasing the potential of the proposed control and design strategies in enhancing system performance in the face of complex disturbances.

Profiting from the surprising non-linear expressive capacity, deep convolutional neural networks have inspired lots of progress in low illumination (LI) remote sensing image enhancement. The key lies in sufficiently exploiting both the specific long-range (e.g., non-local similarity) and short-range (e.g., local continuity) structures distributed across different scales of each input LI image to build an appropriate deep mapping function from the LI images to their corresponding high-quality counterparts. However, most existing methods can only individually exploit the general long-range or short-range structures shared across most images at a single scale, thus limiting their generalization performance in challenging cases. We propose a multi-scale long–short range structure aggregation learning network for remote sensing imagery enhancement. It features flexible architecture for exploiting features at different scales of the input low illumination (LI) image, with branches including a short-range structure learning module and a long-range structure learning module. These modules extract and combine structural details from the input image at different scales and cast them into pixel-wise scale factors to enhance the image at a finer granularity. The network sufficiently leverages the specific long-range and short-range structures of the input LI image for superior enhancement performance, as demonstrated by extensive experiments on both synthetic and real datasets.

The predecessor of China Optics was China Optics and Applied Optics Digest, which was founded in 1985. At that time, it was the only retrieval journal in the field of optics in China. At the end of 2008, China Optics and Applied Optics Digest was renamed 《中国光学》的前身是1985年创办的《中国光学与应用光学文摘》,当时是国内光学领域唯一的检索刊物。2008年底《中国光学与应用光学文摘》转型更名为《中国光学与应用光学》期刊,刊载内容突破了文摘的限制,正式成为学术刊物。

To achieve precise measurement without landing, the high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolite needs to be leveled quickly with high precision and ensure sufficient support stability before work. After the measurement, it is also necessary to ensure that the high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolite can be quickly withdrawn. Therefore, this paper proposes a hierarchical automatic leveling strategy and establishes a two-stage electromechanical automatic leveling mechanism model. Using coarse leveling of the first-stage automatic leveling mechanism and fine leveling of the second-stage automatic leveling mechanism, the model realizes high-precision and fast leveling of the vehicle-mounted theodolites. Then, the leveling control method based on repeated positioning is proposed for the first-stage automatic leveling mechanism. To realize the rapid withdrawal for high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolites, the method ensures the coincidence of spatial movement paths when the structural parts are unfolded and withdrawn. Next, the leg static balance equation is constructed in the leveling state, and the support force detection method is discussed in realizing the stable support for vehicle-mounted theodolites. Furthermore, a mathematical model for “false leg” detection is established furtherly, and a “false leg” detection scheme based on the support force detection method is analyzed to significantly improve the support stability of vehicle-mounted theodolites. Finally, an experimental platform is constructed to perform the performance test for automatic leveling mechanisms. The experimental results show that the leveling accuracy of established two-stage electromechanical automatic leveling mechanism can reach 3.6″, and the leveling time is no more than 2 mins. The maximum support force error of the support force detection method is less than 15%, and the average support force error is less than 10%. In contrast, the maximum support force error of the drive motor torque detection method reaches 80.12%, and its leg support stability is much less than the support force detection method. The model and analysis method proposed in this paper can also be used for vehicle-mounted radar, vehicle-mounted laser measurement devices, vehicle-mounted artillery launchers and other types of vehicle-mounted equipment with high-precision and high-mobility working requirements.
