Despite the roles of intellectual capital (IC) as a competitive strategy for firm continued survival, its nexus with board gender diversity (BGD) has sparsely been investigated. The aim of this study is to analyse the effect of BGD on intellectual capital efficiency (ICF) of the listed deposit money banks (DMBs) in Nigeria. Using a panel data set of 11 banks from 2011 to 2020, we found that BGD has no significant negative effect on ICF with and without the moderating effect of international authorisation. Our finding indicates the need for the management to increase women representation and its quality on the board of directors. The study emphasizes the relevance of BGD on intellectual capital performance with significant implication for academic and practioners. We contribute to literature by examining the effect of BGD on ICF of listed DMBs in Nigeria.

This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into project management through a bibliometric analysis of scholarly publications and patents from 2001 to 2024. The paper aims to identify key trends, emerging applications, and global contributions to this evolving field. The study analyzes 51,752 patents from Lens, 5.5 million scholarly records from Google Scholar, and 436,380 records from Web of Science, providing a comprehensive overview of AI’s impact on project management. The analysis maps the evolution of AI-driven project management practices, focusing on resource allocation, risk management, and scheduling optimization. The findings reveal a substantial increase in AI-related project management research, with China and the United States leading in research output. A notable surge in publications post-2019 suggests acceleration due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing demand for digital transformation in project execution. Despite the rising adoption of AI in project management, research gaps persist, particularly in interdisciplinary methodologies, practical AI applications, and ethical concerns related to algorithmic decision-making. This study contributes to understanding AI’s transformative role in project management and highlights future research directions to enhance AI adoption for improved efficiency, decision-making, and project performance. The findings underscore the need for continued exploration of interdisciplinary approaches, practical implementations, and ethical considerations to foster innovation and efficiency in AI-driven project management.

Sustainable business development based on environmental, social, and governance principles is one of the leading trends in the financial and global community. The introduction of environmental, social, and governance principles is intended to facilitate the implementation of countries’ pledges under the Paris Agreement on Climate and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In 2015, the Republic of Kazakhstan committed to following sustainable development goals, which made the principles of a sustainable and green economy a national priority of the 2050 Strategy. The study aims to identify the opportunities to use green bonds in Kazakhstan so as to increase the effectiveness of territorial management and the development of environmental projects. Proceeding from an expert survey, the study establishes arguments in favor of developing green bonds for the implementation of environmental projects in Kazakhstan, outlines the main hindrances to the advance of green bonds in the country, and lists the conditions required for further proliferation of the use of green bonds. The authors argue that the active use of green bonds can be facilitated by knowledge exchange, capacity building, and state support (especially in analyzing the economy of Kazakhstan) for the development of the market for green bonds, as well as state encouragement of private investors to green investment.

In modern science, there are a large number of techniques focused on the assessment of competitiveness through the analysis of certain resources in the region. However, accounting of human resources in such assessments is not used as a prior factor in identifying regional competitive advantages. Competitive advantages affect not only the efficiency of individual sectors of the economy but also the overall social and economic development of the country. Assessment of the competitiveness of the region should include one of the main parameters of the human resource development level. Therefore, the forecast for the competitiveness of the region should take into account the pace of human resources development. The methods used in Kazakhstan for assessing the competitiveness of a region considers only the assessment of human resources in its structure but do not take into account the level of their development over time, as well as the multi-factorial nature of their components. The work explains and analyzes rating model for assessing of the competitiveness of the regions of Kazakhstan (the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The authors proposed a methodology for ranking the regions of Kazakhstan based on an assessment of the development of their human resources that affect the competitiveness of the region. It includes an analysis of demographic, labor and social and economic indicators reflecting the state of human resources.

The focus of this book chapter is to explore digital literacy (DL) skills in the context of people-centered governance in Kazakhstan. DL has become important, particularly in developing countries, as it is seen as a key factor in enhancing individual participation. The aim is to examine DL in people-centered governance, noting the importance of putting individuals at the center of decision-making processes. To provide a deeper understanding of these concepts, the case of Astana IT University will be utilized to analyze the intersection of DL and people-centered governance in Kazakhstan. By employing a case study methodology, this research seeks to generate insights that can apply to other IT-focused universities in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Through a detailed analysis, this research aims to contribute to existing research on DL and people-centered governance in the context of higher education institutions. By highlighting these concepts, the research seeks to inform both policy theory and practice to enhance DL skills and promote a more inclusive governance approach in the region.
