Despite the roles of intellectual capital (IC) as a competitive strategy for firm continued survival, its nexus with board gender diversity (BGD) has sparsely been investigated. The aim of this study is to analyse the effect of BGD on intellectual capital efficiency (ICF) of the listed deposit money banks (DMBs) in Nigeria. Using a panel data set of 11 banks from 2011 to 2020, we found that BGD has no significant negative effect on ICF with and without the moderating effect of international authorisation. Our finding indicates the need for the management to increase women representation and its quality on the board of directors. The study emphasizes the relevance of BGD on intellectual capital performance with significant implication for academic and practioners. We contribute to literature by examining the effect of BGD on ICF of listed DMBs in Nigeria.

This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into project management through a bibliometric analysis of scholarly publications and patents from 2001 to 2024. The paper aims to identify key trends, emerging applications, and global contributions to this evolving field. The study analyzes 51,752 patents from Lens, 5.5 million scholarly records from Google Scholar, and 436,380 records from Web of Science, providing a comprehensive overview of AI’s impact on project management. The analysis maps the evolution of AI-driven project management practices, focusing on resource allocation, risk management, and scheduling optimization. The findings reveal a substantial increase in AI-related project management research, with China and the United States leading in research output. A notable surge in publications post-2019 suggests acceleration due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing demand for digital transformation in project execution. Despite the rising adoption of AI in project management, research gaps persist, particularly in interdisciplinary methodologies, practical AI applications, and ethical concerns related to algorithmic decision-making. This study contributes to understanding AI’s transformative role in project management and highlights future research directions to enhance AI adoption for improved efficiency, decision-making, and project performance. The findings underscore the need for continued exploration of interdisciplinary approaches, practical implementations, and ethical considerations to foster innovation and efficiency in AI-driven project management.

The focus of this book chapter is to explore digital literacy (DL) skills in the context of people-centered governance in Kazakhstan. DL has become important, particularly in developing countries, as it is seen as a key factor in enhancing individual participation. The aim is to examine DL in people-centered governance, noting the importance of putting individuals at the center of decision-making processes. To provide a deeper understanding of these concepts, the case of Astana IT University will be utilized to analyze the intersection of DL and people-centered governance in Kazakhstan. By employing a case study methodology, this research seeks to generate insights that can apply to other IT-focused universities in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Through a detailed analysis, this research aims to contribute to existing research on DL and people-centered governance in the context of higher education institutions. By highlighting these concepts, the research seeks to inform both policy theory and practice to enhance DL skills and promote a more inclusive governance approach in the region.

The concept of dark tourism has attracted considerable attention in recent years. The studies in this field examine the convergence of tourism and morbidity. The research problem lies in understanding the complex dynamics between the preservation of historical sites associated with Kazakhstan’s former gulags and their role in the emerging dark tourism sector. This paper explores the tourist significance of the former gulags in Kazakhstan through the analysis of interviews, legislation texts and policy documents, and data on visitor numbers. Our aim is to illuminate the historical importance for tourism, educational value, and stakeholders associated with the preservation and promotion of these destinations. The analysis revealed the various and sometimes conflicting interests and concerns of the stakeholders, including tourists, local communities, government institutions, and the private sector. The analysis of statistical data provided valuable information on visitor demographics, preferences, and trends in the Karlag and Alzhir museums. These data highlighted the role of educational institutions and demonstrated the adaptability of museums in difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. During the formation of future policies, effective collaboration with stakeholders, responsible tourism practices, capacity building, and sustainable marketing strategies are essential to the ethical and sustainable management of dark tourist sites. Thus, stakeholders can ensure that dark tourism continues to evolve in a way that respects historical integrity and benefits local communities, while contributing to the broader goals of education and commemoration.

The object of the study is energy efficiency and innovation activity of industrial enterprises. The literature review has shown that the problem of the nature of mutual influence of energy efficiency and innovation activity of the enterprise remains unresolved. The following problem was investigated: existence and nature of dependence of energy efficiency and innovation activity of industrial enterprises. This problem is solved in this study based on the construction of trend lines on the average annual dynamics of changes in energy efficiency, the share of intangible assets and the share of R&D results of large industrial enterprises for 2018–2022. The following results were obtained: – indicators of the share of intangible assets and R&D results directly affect the energy efficiency indicator; – the indicator of energy efficiency does not affect the indicator of the share of intangible assets, while it has a direct impact on the indicator of R&D results. These results explain the priority of the indicator "share of R&D results" in innovation activity for the energy efficiency of enterprises, as it is based on real production. The features of the obtained results consist in the application of comparable correlation analysis coefficients, confirming the existence of a direct relationship between these parameters. The paper provides recommendations on the use of the obtained results at the level of strategic management of an industrial enterprise. The practical significance of this study is the possibility of applying the findings and recommendations to improve the energy efficiency of industrial enterprises in their innovative development in the scope and conditions corresponding to the developing economy
