Obesity and laziness are some of the common issues in the majority of the youth today. This has led to the development of a proposed exergaming solution where users can play first-person physical games. This research study not only proposes a solution for physical fitness in the form of a game using wearable sensors but also proposes a multi-purpose system that provides different applications when trained for the domain-specific dataset. Critical tasks of gesture recognition and depiction in virtual reality can be applied to many applications in the domains of crime detection, fitness, healthcare, online learning, and sports. In particular, the proposed system enables a user to perform, detect, and depict different gestures in the virtual reality game. First, the system pre-processes input data by applying a median filter to overcome the anomalies. Then, features are extracted through a convolutional neural network, power spectral density, skewness, and kurtosis methods. Further, the system optimizes different features by using the grey wolf optimization. Lastly, the optimized features vector is fed to a recurrent neural network for classification. When Compared to the traditional methods, the suggested system gives better results while being easier to use. The IMSporting behaviors (IMSB) dataset includes badminton and other physical activities, the WISDM dataset includes common locomotor motions, and the ERICA dataset which includes a variety of exercises, were used in the experimentation. According to experimental findings, the suggested approach outperformed current methods, which showed detection accuracies of 85.01%, 88.46%, and 93.18% over the IMSB, WISDM, and ERICA datasets, respectively.

Human action recognition is critical because it allows machines to comprehend and interpret human behavior, which has several real-world applications such as video surveillance, robot-human collaboration, sports analysis, and entertainment. The enormous variety in human motion and appearance is one of the most challenging problems in human action recognition. Additionally, when drones are employed for video capture, the complexity of recognition gets enhanced manyfold. The challenges including, the dynamic background, motion blur, occlusions, video capture angle, and exposure issues gets introduced that need to be taken care of. In this article, we proposed a system that deal with the mentioned challenges in drone recorded red-green-blue (RGB) videos. System first splits the video into its constituent frames and then performs a focused smoothing operation on the frames utilizing a bilateral filter. As a result, the foreground objects in the image gets enhanced while the background gets blur. After that a segmentation operation is performed using a quick shift segmentation algorithm that separates out human silhouette from the original video frame. The human skeleton was extracted from the silhouette, and key-points on the skeleton were identified. Thirteen skeleton key-points were extracted, including the head, left wrist, right wrist, left elbow, right elbow, torso, abdomen, right thigh, left thigh, right knee, left knee, right ankle, and left ankle. Using these key-points, we extracted normalized positions, their angular and distance relationship with each other, and 3D point clouds. By implementing an expectation maximization algorithm based on Gaussian mixture model, we drew elliptical clusters over the pixels using the key-points as the central positions to represent the human silhouette. Landmarks were located on the boundaries of these ellipses and were tracked from the beginning until the end of activity. After optimizing the feature matrix using a naïve Bayes feature optimizer, the classification is performed using a deep convolutional neural network. For our experimentation and the validation of our system, three benchmark datasets were utilized i.e., the UAVGesture, the DroneAction, and the UAVHuman dataset. Our model achieved a respective action recognition accuracy of 0.95, 0.90, and 0.44 on the mentioned datasets.

Crowd management becomes a global concern due to increased population in urban areas. Better management of pedestrians leads to improved use of public places. Behavior of pedestrian’s is a major factor of crowd management in public places. There are multiple applications available in this area but the challenge is open due to complexity of crowd and depends on the environment. In this paper, we have proposed a new method for pedestrian’s behavior detection. Kalman filter has been used to detect pedestrian’s using movement based approach. Next, we have performed occlusion detection and removal using region shrinking method to isolate occluded humans. Human verification is performed on each human silhouette and wavelet analysis and particle gradient motion are extracted for each silhouettes. Gray Wolf Optimizer (GWO) has been utilized to optimize feature set and then behavior classification has been performed using the Extreme Gradient (XG) Boost classifier. Performance has been evaluated using pedestrian’s data from avenue and UBI-Fight datasets, where both have different environment. The mean achieved accuracies are 91.3% and 85.14% over the Avenue and UBI-Fight datasets, respectively. These results are more accurate as compared to other existing methods.

The advancement of computer vision technology has led to the development of sophisticated algorithms capable of accurately recognizing human actions from red-green-blue videos recorded by drone cameras. Hence, possessing an exceptional potential, human action recognition also faces many challenges including, tendency of humans to perform the same action in different ways, limited camera angles, and field of view. In this research article, a system has been proposed to tackle the forementioned challenges by using red-green-blue videos as input while the videos were recorded by drone cameras. First of all, the video was split into its constituent frames and then gamma correction was applied on each frame to obtain an optimized version of the image. Then the Felzenszwalb’s algorithm performed the segmentation to segment out human from the input image and human silhouette was generated. Utilizing the silhouette, skeleton was extracted to spot thirteen body key points. The key points were then used to perform elliptical modeling to estimate the individual boundaries of the body parts while the elliptical modeling was governed by the Gaussian mixture model-expectation maximization algorithm. The elliptical models of the body parts were utilized to spot fiducial points that if tracked, could provide very useful information about the performed action. Some other features that were extracted for this study include, the 3d point cloud feature vector, relative distance and velocity of the key-points, and their mutual angles. The features were then forwarded for optimization under a quadratic discriminant analysis and finally, a convolutional neural network was trained to perform the action classification. Three benchmark datasets including, the Drone-Action dataset, the UAV-Human dataset, and the Okutama-Action dataset were used for a comprehensive experimentation. The system outperformed the state-of-the-art approaches by securing accuracies of 80.03%, 48.60%, and 78.01% over the Drone-Action dataset, the UAV-Human dataset, and the Okutama-Action dataset respectively.

Increased traffic density, combined with global population development, has resulted in increasingly congested roads, increased air pollution, and increased accidents. Globally, the overall number of automobiles has expanded dramatically during the last decade. Traffic monitoring in this environment is undoubtedly a significant difficulty in various developing countries. This work introduced a novel vehicle detection and classification system for smart traffic monitoring that uses a convolutional neural network (CNN) to segment aerial imagery. These segmented images are examined to further detect the vehicles by incorporating novel customized pyramid pooling. Then, these detected vehicles are classified into various subcategories. Finally, these vehicles are tracked via Kalman filter (KF) and kernelized filter-based techniques to cope with and manage massive traffic flows with minimal human intervention. During the experimental evaluation, our proposed system illustrated a remarkable vehicle detection rate of 95.78% over the Vehicle Aerial Imagery from a Drone (VAID), 95.18% over the Vehicle Detection in Aerial Imagery (VEDAI), and 93.13% over the German Aerospace Center (DLR) DLR3K datasets, respectively. The proposed system has a variety of applications, including identifying vehicles in traffic, sensing traffic congestion on a road, traffic density at intersections, detecting various types of vehicles, and providing a path for pedestrians.

Virtual reality is an emerging field in the whole world. The problem faced by people today is that they are more indulged in indoor technology rather than outdoor activities. Hence, the proposed system introduces a fitness solution connecting virtual reality with a gaming interface so that an individual can play first-person games. The system proposed in this paper is an efficient and cost-effective solution that can entertain people along with playing outdoor games such as badminton and cricket while sitting in the room. To track the human movement, sensors Micro Processor Unit (MPU6050) are used that are connected with Bluetooth modules and Arduino responsible for sending the sensor data to the game. Further, the sensor data is sent to a machine learning model, which detects the game played by the user. The detected game will be operated on human gestures. A publicly available dataset named IM-Sporting Behaviors is initially used, which utilizes triaxial accelerometers attached to the subject’s wrist, knee, and below neck regions to capture important aspects of human motion. The main objective is that the person is enjoying while playing the game and simultaneously is engaged in some kind of sporting activity. The proposed system uses artificial neural networks classifier giving an accuracy of 88.9%. The proposed system should apply to many systems such as construction, education, offices and the educational sector. Extensive experimentation proved the validity of the proposed system.
