Information

Fady Alnajjar is a distinguished researcher and academic in the field of artificial intelligence, system design engineering, and neuro-robotics. He obtained his M.Sc. in artificial intelligence and a Ph.D. in system design engineering from the University of Fukui, Japan, in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Following his education, he worked as a Research Scientist at the Brain Science Institute (BSI) at RIKEN, Japan, until 2016 and has been a visiting researcher there since. Alnajjar has also been a visiting researcher at the University of Michigan, USA, and at the Neural Rehabilitation Group in the Spanish Research Council, Spain. In 2017, he joined the College of Information Technology at UAE University as a faculty member. During his time at RIKEN, Alnajjar conducted neuro-robotics research to understand the underlying mechanisms of embodied cognition and mind. This experience sparked his interest in investigating the neural mechanisms of motor learning, adaptation, and recovery after brain injury from the perspectives of sensory and muscle synergies. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at UAE University and is the Head of the AI and Robotics Lab. Alnajjar's research has expanded to include the development of rehabilitation robotics for people with motor disabilities, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and elderly individuals with cognitive impairments. His ultimate goal is to propose advanced neuro-rehabilitation robotics and applications.
