Owing to its distinctive merits, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques have been utilized in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) enabled wireless base stations to provide effective coverage for terrestrial users. However, the security of NOMA-UAV systems remains a challenge due to the line-of-sight air-to-ground channels and higher transmission power of weaker users in NOMA. In this paper, we propose two schemes to guarantee the secure transmission in UAV-NOMA networks. When only one user requires secure transmission, we derive the hovering position for the UAV and the power allocation to meet rate threshold of the secure user while maximizing the sum rate of remaining users. This disrupts the eavesdropping towards the secure user effectively. When multiple users require secure transmission, we further take the advantage of beamforming via multiple antennas at the UAV to guarantee their secure transmission. Due to the non-convexity of this problem, we convert it into a convex one for an iterative solution by using the second order cone programming. Finally, simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Gaussian/non-Gaussian impulsive noises in underwater acoustic (UWA) channel seriously impact the quality of underwater acoustic communication. The common denoising algorithms are based on Gaussian noise model and are difficult to apply to the coexistence of Gaussian/non-Gaussian impulsive noises. Therefore, a new UWA noise model is described in this paper by combining the symmetric α-stable (SαS) distribution and normal distribution. Furthermore, a novel underwater acoustic signal denoising algorithm called AWMF+GDES is proposed. First, the non-Gaussian impulsive noise is adaptively suppressed by the adaptive window median filter (AWMF). Second, an enhanced wavelet threshold optimization algorithm with a new threshold function is proposed to suppress the Gaussian noise. The optimal threshold parameters are obtained based on good point set and dynamic elite group guidance combined simulated annealing selection artificial bee colony (GDES-ABC) algorithm. The numerical simulations demonstrate that the convergence speed and the convergence precision of the proposed GDES-ABC algorithm can be increased by 25%~66% and 21%~73%, respectively, compared with the existing algorithms. Finally, the experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed underwater acoustic signal denoising algorithm and demonstrate that both the proposed wavelet threshold optimization method based on GDES-ABC and the AWMF+GDES algorithm can obtain higher output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), noise suppression ratio (NSR), and smaller root mean square error (RMSE) compared with the other algorithms.

It is a huge challenge for the receiver to correctly identify the modulation types due to the complex underwater channel environment and severe noise interference. Additionally, the real-time communications have strict requirements in terms of time. In order to solve this well-known issue, in this work, we combine the automatic feature extraction and learning ability of recurrent neural network (RNN) and convolutional neural network (CNN) for designing a modulation recognition model for underwater acoustic signals. The proposed model is based on deep hybrid neural networks called recurrent and convolutional neural network (R&CNN). As compared with the traditional modulation recognition techniques, this method achieves higher recognition accuracy without manual feature extraction. The experimental results show that the validation accuracy of the proposed R&CNN’s on the Trestle data set is 98.21%. Similarly, the validation accuracy of the proposed R&CNN’s on the South China Sea data set is 99.38%. The average recognition time is 7.164ms. As compared with the conventional deep learning methods, the proposed R&CNN not only has a higher recognition accuracy, but also greatly reduces the recognition time.
As a result of the development of the Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT), underwater connected devices generate a large volume of data with varying values and time sensitivity. Previous data collection strategies cannot accommodate the varying time requirements of various data types. To address the aforementioned issues, this article proposes a cooperative data collection method (MADC-DV) for multiple autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) based on local global deep $Q$ learning (LG-DQN) and data value, which divides data into emergency and nonemergency and achieves hybrid data collection. First, the MAC protocol for communication between AUVs and clusters is designed to divide nonemergency data into high-value data and low-value data, with low-value data not needing to reply to ACK acknowledgment packets, thereby reducing the nonemergency data collection delay. Second, nonemergency data are collected cooperatively using multiple AUVs, and the LG-DQN approach is used to plan the paths for multiple AUV data collection in order to reduce the overall energy consumption of underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs). Finally, emergency data are collected using a multihop routing approach to assist in the collection. A routing method is proposed to compensate for the inability of AUVs to be applied to emergency data collection. The experimental results indicate that the method can improve the network life cycle by 18.7%, reduce the delay in the collection of nonemergency data by 40%, and reduce the delay in the collection of emergency data by 26.3%, thereby meeting the varying time requirements for different types of data.
An underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) system with a 450-nm laser diode and a 150-MHz PIN photodiode is presented. The 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation scheme is employed and realized on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to efficiently provide a high data rate. Experimental results show that this system can achieve data rates up to 50 Mbps over a distance of 3 m underwater with a bit error rate (BER) of in artificial seawater at 35‰ salinity, where the attenuation coefficient is 0.481. This BER is below the forward error correction target of . Thus, this system can provide reliable high-speed communications over short to moderate distance point-to-point UWOC links.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) aided unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is becoming a promising technique for future wireless networks. However, its security remains a great challenge due to the line-of-sight in UAV communications and high transmit power for weak users in NOMA. Thus, in this paper, we propose a power allocation (PA) scheme for NOMA-UAV networks with circular trajectory, to maximize the sum rate of common users while guaranteeing the security for a specific user. To achieve this, we consider three cases based on the distance from the UAV to the secure user. Specifically, the lowest transmit power is assigned to the secure user in each time slot to guarantee its security, with the remaining power allocated to common users to maximize their sum rate. Due to the non-convexity of the problem, we analyze its monotonicity and derive the closed-form solutions for these three cases. To further improve the transmission rate of the secure user, we also derive the upper bound for its decoding threshold, and analyze the linear relationship between the secure decoding threshold and the sum rate of common users. Simulation results are demonstrated to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed secure PA scheme in NOMA-UAV networks.
