Drawing upon the theoretical foundations of the resource-based view, the current research aims to examine the mediating role of open innovation between entrepreneurial orientation, total quality management, and SMEs performance. Open innovation is not new, but SMEs operating in the developing economies are unaware of it importance and need. A structural equation model was used in the study to evaluate the relationships between the data collected from 270 SMEs with the help of adopted questionnaires. The results confirmed the impact of entrepreneurial along with total quality management on open innovation as well as the performance of SMEs. Second, the indirect impact of entrepreneurial orientation along with total quality management via open innovation has also been established which is proven as significant. Owners and managers of SMEs should consider customer-driven practices in an entrepreneurial manner to achieve elevated levels of performance based on the study’s findings.

Moreover, the moderating role of entrepreneurial networking has proved significant in the relationships. The effect size of the moderator is also significant and large. This study is also important for the sustainability of entrepreneurial firms because the more they are successful in their mission, the more they will be sustainable. Sustainability of small and medium enterprises has always remained a big question, especially for developing countries. This study has been conducted to identify the role of knowledge management, which is considered compulsory for the sustainable performance of small and medium enterprises. Furthermore, the study examined the moderating role of interactive performance management. For identifying the framework, data has been collected through adopted questionnaires and structural equation modelling has been applied over the collected data from 100 small and medium enterprises operating in Sialkot, Pakistan. The findings revealed that knowledge exploitation and knowledge exploration have a significant positive impact on the performance of small and medium enterprises. Likewise, interactive performance management has also a significant direct impact, however, the moderating role of interactive performance management is negative and insignificant over the relationship between knowledge exploitation and sustainable performance, yet it affects the direct relationship and makes it insignificant. On the other hand, the moderating role of interactive performance management is positive and insignificant over the relationship between knowledge exploration and sustainable performance. The findings are significant for the policymakers as well as academicians as the findings highlight the importance of knowledge exploitation, knowledge exploration, and interactive performance management which is usually ignored by the owners of small and medium enterprises in developing countries like Pakistan.

This paper investigates the moderating role of market turbulence over the impact of entrepreneurial marketing over Performance of Entrepreneurial Firms. We have developed the framework while taking the support of contingency perspective. We adopted a quantitative research methodology and collected the data using survey technique from 384 entrepreneurial firms, and the managers and owners were contacted for the responses. The collected data, after ensuring the reliability and validity has been evaluated using Smart PLS 3. Structural equation modelling has been applied to evaluate the research framework. The findings revealed that six out of seven identified constructs of entrepreneurial marketing hold a significant impact over performance of entrepreneurial Firms. Additionally, the moderating role of market turbulence has also found significant which is the major significance of the study. The paper ends up by identifying the limitations faced while conducting research and giving recommendations for future researchers.
