This paper presents a UAV-swarm-communication model using a machine-learning approach for search-and-rescue applications. Firstly, regarding the communication of UAVs, the receive signal strength (RSS) and power loss have been modeled using random forest regression, and the mathematical representation of the channel matrix has also been discussed. The second part consisted of swarm control modeling of UAVs; however, a dataset for five types of triangular swarm formations was generated, and K-means clustering was applied to predict the cluster. In order to obtain the correct swarm formation, the dendrogram of all types was investigated. Finally, the heat map and contour were plotted for all kinds of swarm clusters. Furthermore, it was observed that the RSS of proposed swarms had good agreement with swarm distances.
The proposed work describes a corner square-cut square-patch multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with reduced mutual coupling for circular polarization (CP). A two-port MIMO-CP antenna was designed and operated at 5.6 GHz for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. The dimensions of the MIMO-CP antenna were and the FR4 substrate height was 1.6 mm. Between the two-elements, the edge-to-edge distance was 12.2 mm (0.227 ), where was the free space wavelength at 5.6 GHz. A slot was created in the middle of the ground in the proposed MIMO antenna to reduce mutual coupling and improve CP. The ground slot improves impedance matching and provides a better S-parameter and axial ratio (AR), according to the antenna results. According to the simulated results, the proposed antenna bandwidth of 5.23–6.42 GHz (21.4%) for S11 were < dB, isolation was −37 dB with a peak gain of 6 dB and AR dB from 5.37 to 5.72 GHz (6.25%). The proposed antennas are simple to fabricate, have low profiles, are inexpensive, have good isolation, and are CP. The diversity gain (DG) and envelop correlation coefficient (ECC) results are better in the simulated frequency band. A MIMO-CP antenna geometry prototype is built and measured for comparison, yielding good results when compared to the simulated and measured results. The MIMO-CP antenna, as designed, is suitable for WLAN applications.
This paper proposes a compact, semi-circular shaped multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna design with high isolation and enhanced bandwidth for ultrawide band (UWB) applications. A decoupling stub is used for high isolation reaching up to −55 dB over the entire bandwidth. The proposed antenna is used for UWB as well as super wide band (SWB) applications. The overall size of the proposed antenna is mm3. The and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the proposed antenna are less than −10 dB and 2, respectively, in the range of 3–40 GHz. The total impedance bandwidth of the proposed design is 37 GHz. The VSWR, , , , , gain, envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), radiation pattern, and various other characteristic parameters are discussed in detail. The proposed antenna is optimized and simulated in a computer simulation technology (CST) studio, and printed on a FR4 substrate.
In this paper, a slotted conical patch connected to a small triangular patch multiband antenna for both microwave and millimeter-wave applications is presented. The designed antenna has three characteristics. The proposed antenna is a multiband, having a compact size of 0.35λ0 × 0.35λ0 × 0.004λ0 at its lowest operational frequency, i.e., 2.4 GHz, and more importantly, it can cover both the microwave and millimeter-wave bands with a single feeding. According to the −10 dB matching bandwidth, experimental results show that the antenna operates at (2.450–2.495) GHz, (5.0–6.3) GHz, and (23–28) GHz. The reduced size, simple design, and multiband large bandwidth are some of the advantages over the reported designs in the latest literature. Both simulated and experimental results show a good agreement, and the proposed antenna can be used for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications and fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication devices.
This paper presents the optimization performance of non-uniform linear antenna array with optimized inter-element spacing and excitation amplitude using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The aim of the proposed algorithm is to obtain the optimum values for inter-element spacing and excitation amplitude for a linear antenna array in a given radiation pattern with suppressed Side Lobe Level (SLL), minimum Half Power Beamwidth (HPBW), improved directivity and placement of nulls in the desired direction. A variety of design examples are considered and the obtained results using PSO are validated by benchmarking with results obtained using other nature-inspired meta-heuristic algorithms such as the Real-coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA) and the Biogeographic Based Optimization (BBO) algorithm. The comparative results are shown that optimization of linear antenna array using the PSO provides considerable enhancement in the SLL, the HPBW, the directivity and the null control in the desired direction.
