Katharigatta N. Venugopala, M.Pharm, PhD, CChem, CSci, FRSC, is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Clinical Pharmacy, King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia. He obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India, and completed postdoctoral fellowships in Peptide Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Medicinal Chemistry at Durban University of Technology, South Africa. His research focuses on medicinal chemistry, structure–activity relationships, heterocyclic chemistry, and drug discovery, with particular emphasis on novel anti-tubercular agents targeting multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis. He has led several competitively funded anti-TB research programs, including the MOE-1058 project funded by the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia. His research has resulted in several patents, research publications, review articles, and book chapters. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Chartered Scientist (CSci), and a Chartered Chemist (CChem), and has been recognized among the Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists from 2020 to 2026.
