The article discusses the influence of the post-process on the mechanical properties of elements produced with the use of the mask stereolithography (mSLA) method. Printed samples were subjected to the following post-process steps: Washing and post-curing, at various times. Then, static tensile and static bending tests were carried out, as well as Shore D hardness measurements for the inner and surface part of the sample, as well as profilographometric analysis of the surface. The post-curing time has been found to strongly affect the tensile and bending strength of printouts, and to improve their surface quality. Washing has an ambiguous effect on the strength of the printouts, but, in the end, it was found that extended washing slightly reduces the strength. Washing significantly affects the quality of the printout surface. A washing time that is too short results in a surface that strongly resembles the printing process, with high roughness. Increasing the washing time to 10 min lowers the roughness by one order of magnitude. Post-curing has also been shown to be beneficial for the cured sample with the application of shielding water. This approach results in an improvement in the flexural strength of the printouts. In general, the obtained research results indicate that, for printouts with cross-sectional dimensions of several mm, the optimal washing time is no more than 10 min and the post-curing time is at least 30 min.

In this work, an organ pipe instrument with a mechatronic control system including the Passive Haptic Feedback technology is implemented. The test bed consists of a motorized positioning stage mounted to a brace that is attached to a bridge on a platform. A simple pneumatic mechanism is designed and realized to achieve the same dynamics pressure for each measurement attempt on the keyboard. This system contain pipes, an air compressor, valves, and a piston connected to applied force pressure on the keyboard of the organ pipe. The pneumatic components, like valves and pressure regulators, mounted on the profile plate are connected to the main air supply line via flexible tubing or hoses to the air compressor and mechanical trucker. The pneumatic system has many types of valves that regulate the air speed, air flow, and power. The combination of valves and air compressor control the air flow and the mechanism of piston and pressure on the keyboard. The mechanical actuator presses the key to be tested, and a load cell detects the applied key force. A laser triangulation measurement system based on a Laser Displacement Sensor measures the displacement of the key during the key depression. The velocity of the key motion is controlled by the pneumatic actuator. A miniature-sized strain gauge load cell, which is mounted on a musical keyboard key, measures the contact force between the probe and the key. In addition, the quality of the audio signal generated by the organ instrument is estimated using the Hilbert transform.

The presented study discusses the possible disturbing effects of the electromagnetic field of antennas used in mobile phones or WiFi technologies on the pacemaker in the patient’s body. This study aims to obtain information on how the thickness of skin layers (such as the thickness of the hypodermis) can affect the activity of a pacemaker exposed to a high-frequency electromagnetic field. This study describes the computational mathematical analysis and modeling of the heart pacemaker inserted under the skin exposed to various electromagnetic field sources, such as a PIFA antenna and a tuned dipole antenna. The finite integration technique (FIT) for a pacemaker model was implemented within the commercially available CST Microwave simulation software studio. Likewise, the equations that describe the mathematical relationship between the subcutaneous layer thickness and electric field according to different exposures of a tuned dipole and a PIFA antenna are used and applied for training a neural network. The main output of this study is the creation of a mathematical model and a multilayer feedforward neural network, which can show the dependence of the thickness of the hypodermis on the size of the electromagnetic field, from the simulated data from CST Studio.

In this paper, a novel, composite material is proposed based on ferromagnetic wires immersed in a polymer that is well suited for 3D printing. The magnetic properties of this material are examined using FEM and compared with the properties of a more traditional composite based on magnetic powder. For a 50% ferromagnetic volume in the material, the proposed composite has a 67% higher value of saturation magnetic flux density and 87% higher value of maximum permeability, compared with the powder-based material. The authors believe that the proposed material could be used in the manufacturing of small electromechanical devices such as energy harvesters, thus vastly widening the possible fields of application related to 3D printing techniques.

Magnetorheological and electrorheological fluids manifest a change in rheological behavior when subjected to a magnetic or electric field, respectively, such that they require electrical and magnetic characterization. In this paper, a simple and accurate mathematical model based on a small number of parameters provides the relative magnetic permeability of magnetorheological fluids as a function of the applied magnetic field. Furthermore, for the testing and magnetic characterization of magnetorheological fluids, a new metering equipment setup is implemented. Starting with the achieved experimental data, the mathematical relation μr=f(B) is represented by means of a radial basis function neural network, with neurons having a Gaussian activation function; by means of post-training pruning procedures, the trained neural network is applied using the proposed data. Therefore, the obtained mathematical relation μr=f(B) is in good agreement with the experimental data, with an approximate error of 8%.
