The purpose of this study is to understand the concepts and evolution of big data analytics applied to health services, considering activities that involve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of the patient. The literature review, consulting the databases Scopus and Web of Science and employing the keywords health analytics and big data analytics with no time restrictions, found papers that approach, specifically, the use of big data analytics in the context of healthcare, represented by examples and related analyses. Clarifying its concepts and the evolution of its performance foments the development of new research. Thus, time and decision-making appear as actions developed by both the information technology team and the clinical team, which, based on the interpretations of big data analytics involving patients, may consider variables such as cost, time, decision, and functional structure performance as the main determining factors aligned with corporate strategy. This work expects to foster research on aspects of public health, in addition to considering the concern with the survival of affected people

In order to aid professionals in disaster management, efficient procedures and technologies are developed and adopted. This paper intends to present the results of a literature review on the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in disaster management. Even though the IoT approach was defined many years ago, only recently its technologies have been enhanced and acquired greater clarity and scope. Internationally, scientific studies indexed in two databases, Scopus and Web of Science were found, selected and analyzed. Two portfolios of papers were generated: the first for the bibliometric analysis and, the second, leaner, for qualitative analysis retaining the contributions pertinent to the proposed theme. The literature review identified macro-discussions on the IoT in disaster management and applications of more specific devices or technologies. In disaster operations, the IoT is a target theme in the fields of Computer Science, Electronic Engineering and Environmental Engineering, especially useful in disaster mitigation, rescue, response, and recovery. The main positive impact is the facilitated communication between professionals, more robust data and monitoring of data for environmental management, first aid, people tracking, distribution of supplies and medicines, among other purposes.

Technological and scientific advances set out the expanding of new opportunities for intelligent industries. The concept of Industry 4.0 is observed by expert groups as an important industrial configuration approach, however, much is still under discussion, especially in the emerging countries. There is a lack of practical studies and procedures on the implementation of this concept in companies. This paper aims to present intrinsic scientific contributions to Industry 4.0 deployment in companies, so that this concept can be set in motion. A literature review was elaborated in the Scopus, Web of Science and Science Direct databases, using structured protocols to select scientific articles. Only empirical studies were considered – empirical evidences – interview with experts on Industry 4.0 themes, case studies in companies, among others. As result, the barriers were reported, such as lack of financial resources and lack of infrastructure, the challenging impacts, such as relocation of people in the labour market, and benefits, respectively, and finally the basic technological and managerial requirements for Industry 4.0.

Due to the increasing production of motor vehicles, a large amount of waste with different characteristics and compositions is generated, notably end-of-life tires, which are harmful to the environment when not properly disposed. Their composition contains contaminating chemical elements, resulting in negative impacts on the environment. This research aims to present a process that favors the recycling of rubber waste from end-of-life tires. For the construction of the state of the art and state of the technique, a review of the literature on end-of-life tire rubber, and a search on Google Patents and Espacenet was done using Methodi Ordinatio. For the experimental work, samples were made using concentrations of 20%, 40%, and 60% of end-of-life tire rubber particles, with the addition of thermoset polymeric matrix of isophthalic polyester resin, catalyst, and dyes. In order to evaluate the quality of the mixture, some tests with the material resulting from the mixture were performed: Izod impact strength, Shore D hardness, immersion density determination, flexural strength, and scanning electron microscopy analysis. The results from the tests indicate that the composition with 60% of rubber particles had better mechanical results than samples containing 20% and 40%. The tests also show that end-of-life tire particles promote chemical adsorption (interaction) with the thermoset polymer matrix, favoring the mechanical properties. The final results of this research are: the literature review and the search on granted patents showed that this study is original; the experimental work suggests that practical applications are possible, generating a new product, harder with a proportion of 60% of rubber particles, as indicated by the tests, with a smooth surface that does not require polishing. Thus, this research is characterized as innovative as well as having sustainable characteristics.

In practice, with the aim of achieving competitiveness, the industrial sector has the primary function of looking for ways to increase productive performance, improve the quality of products and processes, and reduce waste and production costs. An alternative to these strategies is the deployment of improvement projects, following the DMAIC structure of the Six Sigma approach. This study aimed to present the results of Lean Six Sigma implementation oriented to cost management. A case study was carried out in an agro-industrial cooperative, specifically, in the grain receipts department. The tools applied in the case study were: Requirements Tree; Charts Pareto and Stratification; Cause and Effect Diagram; Failure Mode and Effect Analysis; Statistical Process Control, and; Control Array, respectively. These tools are widely used in quality management and continuous improvement of industrial processes, mainly. As result, it was possible to apply all the tools proposed by the methodology and achieve a satisfactory result of cost improvements. The improvements obtained in the department’s cost management system, as well as the increase in the capacity of the process, were both significant.

Problems such as resource depletion, climate change, and social and economic contingencies have been generating pressures to create strategies to minimize or mitigate these issues. In this context, where sustainable development and its mechanisms are widely addressed, this paper conducts a systematic literature review on technology transfer for sustainable development, seeking to identify the themes addressed and their convergence, as well as the social impacts mentioned. Not only does this study map out the social impacts found, but it also aims to contribute by disseminating the best strategies to achieve social development. To achieve that purpose, a systematic literature review was conducted using the Methodi Ordinatio methodology. The software programs NVivo 12 and VOSviewer® were employed to make the in-depth content analysis. The results show that there is a denial of social impacts in scientific works. The main approaches addressed in the articles are Strategies, Resources and Technologies, Clean Development Mechanism and Policies, Regulations and Actions. The main social impacts were Health Improvement, Quality of Life and Poverty Alleviation. Moreover, the focus of the papers is noticeably on vulnerable and developing countries/areas. It is possible to infer that the results found are aligned with those provided by the Sustainable Development Goals. The results also show that there are different strategies that bring social benefits, which therefore must be studied and diffused. However, there is a need to address social impacts more widely.

The international circulation of scientists from developing to developed countries can be one of the ways to access advanced knowledge. Similarly, another alternative proposed in this paper is the international student mobility as a way to increase the tacit knowledge asset of a country. Based on this assumption, the purpose of this paper is to approach knowledge and technology transfer having two universities as subjects of study in order to identify the barriers and mechanisms in the transfer within the international student mobility scenario. The paper investigates two groups of students, one from Brazil and another from France, which participated in an international student mobility programme for a period longer than six months. Results show the main barriers and the most effective mechanisms for this category of knowledge and technology transfer. At the end of the paper, we propose a model which has as interfaces two universities as transferor and transferee.

In the supply chain oriented to Industrial 4.0 Scenario the scarcity of studies on Technology Transfer (TT) can be easily observed. TT is a fundamental process, because it steers the absorption and dissemination of technologies towards the various stages of supply chain. The objective of this study is to contextualise TT in the supply chain of Industrial 4.0 Scenario, focusing on the supply, manufacturing industry and final consumer stages. A review of the literature was carried out, using a structured protocol and criteria to compose the bibliographic portfolio. To support the questions presented in this study, the most relevant articles related to the researched topic were thoroughly analyzed. The results infers that in the Industrial 4.0 Scenario, the supply chain will go through changes, such as real-time visibility throughout the entirety of the supply chain, continuous collaboration between the stages of the chain, among other significant changes.
