Gustavo Marcelo Morales is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC) in Argentina and an Independent Researcher at CONICET. He is a member of IITEMA (CONICET-UNRC). He earned his B.S. (1997) and Ph.D. (2002) in Chemistry from UNRC under Prof. Cesar Barbero, and completed a postdoc (2002–2005) at the University of Chicago with Prof. Luping Yu. His research focuses on the synthesis and chemical modification of carbon nanomaterials, including graphene, graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, and carbon nitride. He investigates the chemistry of graphene oxide for controlled functionalization. His work also covers metallic and semiconductor nanostructures, scanning probe microscopy (STM, STS, AFM), molecular electronics, and conductive polymers for electrochromic devices, with applications in energy storage and conversion. Beyond research, he remains active in academic administration at UNRC and is dedicated to training graduate students in materials chemistry.
