The distributed nature of Internet of Things (IoT) and its rapid increase on a large scale raises many security and privacy issues. Access control is one of the major challenges currently addressed through centralized approaches that may rely on a third party and they are constrained by availability and scalability, which may result in a performance bottleneck. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel solution to manage the delivery of lightweight and decentralized secure access control of an IoT system based on a multi-agent system and a blockchain. The main objective of the proposed solution is to build Blockchain Managers (BCMs) for securing IoT access control, as well as allowing for secure communication between local IoT devices. Moreover, the solution also enables secure communication between IoT devices, fog nodes and cloud computing.

The phenomenon of phishing has now been a common threat, since many individuals and webpages have been observed to be attacked by phishers. The common purpose of phishing activities is to obtain user’s personal information for illegitimate usage. Considering the growing intensity of the issue, this study is aimed at developing a new hybrid rule‐based solution by incorporating six different algorithm models that may efficiently detect and control the phishing issue. The study incorporates 37 features extracted from six different methods including the black listed method, lexical and host method, content method, identity method, identity similarity method, visual similarity method, and behavioral method. Furthermore, comparative analysis was undertaken between different machine learning and deep learning models which includes CART (decision trees), SVM (support vector machines), or KNN (K‐nearest neighbors) and deep learning models such as MLP (multilayer perceptron) and CNN (convolutional neural networks). Findings of the study indicated that the method was effective in analysing the URL stress through different viewpoints, leading towards the validity of the model. However, the highest accuracy level was obtained for deep learning with the given values of 97.945 for the CNN model and 93.216 for the MLP model, respectively. The study therefore concludes that the new hybrid solution must be implemented at a practical level to reduce phishing activities, due to its high efficiency and accuracy.

COVID-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 and has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization due to its rapid spread. Since the first case was identified in Wuhan, China, the battle against this deadly disease started and has disrupted almost every field of life. Medical staff and laboratories are leading from the front, but researchers from various fields and governmental agencies have also proposed healthy ideas to protect each other. In this article, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is presented to highlight the latest developments in analyzing the COVID-19 data using machine learning and deep learning algorithms. The number of studies related to Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and mathematical models discussed in this research has shown a significant impact on forecasting and the spread of COVID-19. The results and discussion presented in this study are based on the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Out of 218 articles selected at the first stage, 57 met the criteria and were included in the review process. The findings are therefore associated with those 57 studies, which recorded that CNN (DL) and SVM (ML) are the most used algorithms for forecasting, classification, and automatic detection. The importance of the compartmental models discussed is that the models are useful for measuring the epidemiological features of COVID-19. Current findings suggest that it will take around 1.7 to 140 days for the epidemic to double in size based on the selected studies. The 12 estimates for the basic reproduction range from 0 to 7.1. The main purpose of this research is to illustrate the use of ML, DL, and mathematical models that can be helpful for the researchers to generate valuable solutions for higher authorities and the healthcare industry to reduce the impact of this epidemic.

An important aspect of the diagnosis procedure in daily clinical practice is the analysis of dental radiographs. This is because the dentist must interpret different types of problems related to teeth, including the tooth numbers and related diseases during the diagnostic process. For panoramic radiographs, this paper proposes a convolutional neural network (CNN) that can do multitask classification by classifying the X-ray images into three classes: cavity, filling, and implant. In this paper, convolutional neural networks are taken in the form of a NASNet model consisting of different numbers of max-pooling layers, dropout layers, and activation functions. Initially, the data will be augmented and preprocessed, and then, the construction of a multioutput model will be done. Finally, the model will compile and train the model; the evaluation parameters used for the analysis of the model are loss and the accuracy curves. The model has achieved an accuracy of greater than 96% such that it has outperformed other existing algorithms.

The Internet of Things paradigm is growing rapidly. In fact, controlling this massive growth of IoT globally raises new security and privacy issues. The traditional access control mechanisms provide security to IoT systems such as DAC (discretionary access control) and mandatory access control (MAC). However, these mechanisms are based on central authority management, which raises some issues such as absence of scalability, single point of failure, and lack of privacy. Recently, the decentralized and immutable nature of blockchain technology integrated with access control can help to overcome privacy and security issues in the IoT. This paper presents a review of different access control mechanisms in IoT systems. We present a comparison table of reviewed access control mechanisms. The mechanisms’ scalability, distribution, security, user-centric, privacy and policy enforcing are compared. In addition, we provide access control classifications. Finally, we highlight challenges and future research directions in developing decentralized access control mechanisms for IoT systems.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) has become a rapid development; it can be employed by cyber threats in IoT devices. A correct system to recognize malicious attacks at IoT platforms became of major importance to minimize security threats in IoT devices. Botnet attacks have more severe and common attacks and it is threaten IoT devices. These threats interrupt IoT alteration by interrupting networks and services for IoT devices. Several existing methods present themselves to determine unknown patterns in IoT networks for improving security. Recent analysis presents DL and ML methods for classifying and detecting botnet attacks from the IoT environment. Consequently, this paper develops a Bald Eagle Search Optimization with a Hybrid Deep Learning based botnet detection (BESO-HDLBD) algorithm in an IoT platform. The presented BESO-HDLBD approach aims to resolve the security issue by identifying the botnets in the IoT environment. To reduce the high dimensionality problem, the BESO-HDLBD method uses the BESO system for the feature selection process. For botnet detection purposes, the BESO-HDLBD algorithm uses HDL, which is an integration of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM), and attention concept. The desire for the HDL technique in botnet detection utilises the intricate nature of botnet attacks that frequently contain difficult and developing patterns. Combining CNNs permits for effectual feature extraction from spatial data, BiLSTM networks capture temporal dependencies, and attention mechanisms improve the model’s capability to concentrate on fundamental patterns. The selection of hyperparameters of the HDL approach takes place using the dragonfly algorithm (DFA). The experimental analysis of the BESO-HDLBD system could be examined under a benchmark botnet dataset. The obtained outcome infers a better outcome of the BESO-HDLBD technique compared to the recent detection system with respect to distinct estimation measures.
