Sandra Sorte has a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the University of Aveiro. She started her scientific journey as a research fellow in the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies—University of Aveiro (UA) in 2015, integrated into the Research Group on Emissions, Modelling and Climate Change (GEMAC-UA), which was awarded the UA Researcher Award 2021 (honorable mention in the Engineering research area). Her research interests include air quality numerical modeling (urban and local scale), indoor air quality, mitigation measures, cost-benefit analysis and the health benefits approach. At the research level, she was involved in several national and international research projects, namely six national projects (funded by FCT) and one international project. In recent years, she has authored/co-authored 14 international peer-reviewed papers, two books, two book chapters and six communications at national and international conferences. She has already acted as a reviewer for nine international journals and as a member of the scientific committee of those nine journals (mostly of quartile 1).
