The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the psychological needs of athletes who attend gyms, the spirituality index of well-being, and motivation in sports, and to determine the mediating role of the spirituality index of well-being between psychological needs in sports and motivation in sports. Although sports spirituality is rapidly developing in the international literature, sports and spirituality have not been studied together in the national literature before. Therefore, this study holds the distinction of being one of the pioneering research efforts on the subject of spirituality in athletes in Türkiye. In this context, the data of 422 athletes, 176 women and 246 men, who have been attending gym facilities in Antalya for at least one year, were included in the research. Participants were administered a personal information form, Psychological Need States. It was found that the spirituality index of well-being is positively related to all satisfaction subscales and negatively related to all frustration subscales of psychological needs and that the life scheme is related to many subscales of sport motivation. Furthermore, it was also found that the spirituality index of well-being is a mediating variable between psychological needs in sports and motivation in sports. The data draw attention to the importance of sports spirituality. It is recommended to integrate spirituality into healthcare for athletes.

This study assessed the quality, reliability, and popularity of Reformer Pilates videos on YouTube, evaluating educational value, credibility, and viewer engagement using standardized scoring while exploring factors affecting popularity. On November 1, 2024, a YouTube search for “Reformer Pilates“ identified the top 70 most-viewed videos. Videos were excluded if irrelevant, promotional, or under 25 seconds. Video quality and reliability were assessed using the Global Quality Scale (GQS), Modified DISCERN (mDISCERN), and JAMA benchmarks. Viewer engagement and popularity were measured with the Video Power Index (VPI). Factors associated with engagement were analyzed using Quantile Regression Forest modeling. Most videos (87.1%) were uploaded by individual channels, 12.9% by Pilates studios. Average GQS (3.06), mDISCERN (3.09), and JAMA (2.61) scores indicated moderate quality and reliability. Videos claiming instructor expertise had lower mDISCERN scores (p = 0.005). Studio-recorded videos had higher GQS scores than home-recorded videos, though not statistically significant. Quantile Regression Forest analysis indicated that mentioning safety information, shorter video duration, and higher GQS scores were among the factors associated with higher viewer engagement (VPI). Older videos tended to exhibit lower engagement levels, reflecting a preference for newer content. Findings highlight the importance of high-quality, concise, and safety-focused Reformer Pilates videos, as these characteristics are associated with higher engagement and popularity. Content creators may benefit from prioritizing these factors to attract and retain audiences, underscoring YouTube’s role in delivering potentially reliable Pilates content.

Aim: The aim was to evaluate the biochemical and hormonal parameters of athletes using reference ranges. Methods: The study sample consisted of 25 male athletes with an average age of 28.50±4.25 (years) who played active professional football in the 2022-2023 season. Basal blood samples were collected 48 hours after the game at rest in the biochemical testing laboratory. The frequency distribution was calculated to determine the distribution of the athletes' biochemical parameters within and outside the normal range. The normal values for each parameter and the high or low deviations from these values were analysed. Results: According to the results of the study, ALT and AST levels were 28.38±9.86 U/L and 36.69±14.08 U/L, respectively, bilirubin level was 1.12±0.39 mg/dL, iron level was 114.58±34.63 µg/dL, ferritin level was 110.95±110.94 ng/mL, glucose level was 73.62±6.76 mg/dL and the average HDL cholesterol level was 62.47±12.32 mg/dL, the total cholesterol level 178.58±23.97 mg/dL, the LDL cholesterol level 109.49±19.10 mg/dL, the vitamin B12 level 575.15±251.55 pg/mL, the transferrin level 2.36±0.27 g/L and the thyroglobulin level 103.94±473.45 µg/L. Conclusion: It was found that ALT, AST, ferritin, bilurubin, iron, glucose, HDL cholesterol, vitamin B12, transferrin and thyroglobulin levels were within the reference range and normal range in a large proportion of athletes, but LDL cholesterol levels were too high in 50% of athletes and total cholesterol levels were too high in 11.5% of athletes.

The aim of this study was to investigate the bilateral strength asymmetry of the knee extensors and flexors, to determine the imbalance difference between the two legs, and to investigate the effect of 6 weeks of Pilates exercises on the strength of the hamstring muscles and the balance imbalance during the preparation process. In this study, a total of 23 professional soccer players were divided into two groups. Group 1 (soccer+Pilates) was asked to continue their routine soccer training (n=12), while group 2 (soccer) was asked to perform Pilates exercises for 25-30 minutes 3 days per week in addition to soccer training (n=11). After the athletes were anthropometrically measured (height, weight and BMI) and eccentric knee flexor muscle strength was determined using the NordBord (ValdPerformance, Australia) hamstring device, Pilates exercises were performed on the mat for 6 weeks prior to pre-season training and the same tests were performed again after the pre-season training period. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 24 package program at a significance level of p
