Information

She is a Full Professor at Electronics Technology Department of Carlos III University of Madrid, leader of Displays and Photonics Applications Group and the Head of Master's degrees on Photonics Engineering and on Electronics Systems Engineering. Her work covers integrated optics, optical communications and instrumentation including: power-over-fiber, plastic optical fibers, broadband access networks and monitoring techniques, power-over-fiber and radio-over-fiber systems, filters, fiber optic sensors and 5G and WDM networks, and was developed for universities and companies. She proposed, for the first time, the integration of power-over-fiber technology in long reach 5G mobile networks with multicore fibers and developed a novel optical fiber pyrometer. Principal investigator (PI) in more than 25 R&D projects and coordinator of a research program SINFOTON2 with more than 70 researchers (www.sinfoton-cm.es). In her last EU project (5g-ppp.eu/bluespace/), she was a PI and collaborated with 11 partners. She was a Visiting Scientist at Research Laboratory of Electronics MIT. She has supervised 10 PhD students; 8 were awarded with the doctoral prize of UC3M Doctorate School. She has actively participated in two European Networks of Excellence BONE and EPhoton ONE+. She has published more than 250 scientific publications and holds 8 patents. She won the extraordinary doctorate prize. Since 2012, she has been a Fellow of SPIE (Society Photo-Optic Instrumentation Engineers).
