Electric vehicles are the most innovative and promising area of the automotive industry. The efficiency of a traction battery is an important factor in the performance of an electric vehicle. This paper presents a mathematical model of an electric truck, including modules for the traction battery to determine the depth of battery discharge during the operation of the electric truck, a traction electric system for the electric truck and a system for calculating traction forces on the shaft in electric motors. As a result of the modelling, the charging and discharging currents of an accumulator battery in a real cycle of movement in peak and nominal modes of operation in electric motors and at different voltages of the accumulator battery are determined. A functional scheme of a generalized model of the electric vehicle traction electrical equipment system is developed. An experimental battery charge degree, torques of asynchronous electric motors, temperature of electric motors and inverters, battery voltage and the speed of electric motors have been measured and analysed. The developed complex mathematical model of an electric vehicle including a traction battery, two inverters and two asynchronous electric motors integrated into an electric portal bridge allowed us to obtain and study the load parameters of the battery in real driving cycles. Data were verified by comparing simulation results with the data obtained during driving.

From a commercial viewpoint, mine methane is the most promising object in the field of reducing emissions of climate-active gases due to circular waste management. Therefore, the task of this research is to estimate the technogenic reservoirs resources of mine methane when implementing the circular waste management concept. The novelty of the authors’ approach lies in reconstructing the response space for the dynamics of methane release from the front and cross projections: CH4 = ƒ(S; t) and CH4 = ƒ(S; L), respectively. The research established a polynomial dependence of nonlinear changes in methane concentrations in the mixture extracted by type 4 wells when a massif is undermined as a result of mining in a full-retreat panel. And the distance from the face to the start of mining the panel is reduced by 220 m. For this reason, the emission of mine methane, in case of degasification network disruption in 15 days, can amount to more than 660 thousand m3 only for wells of type no. 4.

The paper considers a dispersive geological medium (seismically turbid medium, as defined by A.V. Nikolaev), which is in a stress–strain state. Results of studies on the joint monitoring of seismic effects and radon emanation in various geological environments are presented. It is concluded that the turbidity of the medium, as a statistical characteristic, can be generalized in terms of other media parameters, such as permeability. A stable connection between radon emanation and dynamic processes occurring in a geological environment and caused by external influences has been established. The concentration of radon can also reflect the degree of enrichment of the environment by underground fractures. Consequently, saturation of the environment with radon provides information about the presence of disturbances in a geological environment in the form of cracks and a stress–strain state of the medium before and after seismic loadings. Radon observations make it possible to assess a continuity of the environment and the possibility of leaching in natural conditions. Therefore, it could be efficiently used for underground leaching efficiency assessment.

To date, composite materials, such as polymer concrete, have found wide application in various industries due to their unique properties combining high strength, resistance to aggressive media and durability. Improving the performance characteristics of polymer concrete is an important task aimed at expanding the areas of its application. One of the promising methods of increasing the strength of this material is the use of various fillers. In this paper, the effect of fillers, based on carbon and basalt fibres, on the mechanical properties of polymer concrete was investigated. The polymer concrete was made of the following components: rubble stone, sand, quartz flour and polyester resin. During the experimental work, the amount of carbon and basalt fibres in the polymer concrete mixture varied from 0 to 6%. Bending and compressive strength tests showed that the addition of carbon and basalt fibres increased these properties. The highest bending and compressive strengths were achieved when carbon fibre contents were up to 1.5%, while basalt fibres provided the highest strengths in the case of around 2%. These results confirmed that carbon fibres had a higher efficiency in strengthening polymer concrete compared to that of basalt fibres. This could be explained by the fact that carbon fibres had a higher tensile strength and modulus of elasticity, which allowed them to better redistribute loads within the composite material. The fibre length for carbon fibre, which gave the maximum increase in properties, was 10–15 mm. For basalt fibre, the maximum bending strength was reached at 20 mm and compressive strength at 10 mm. Increasing the content of carbon fibre above 2% and basalt fibre above 1.5% did not give further increase in mechanical properties. In conclusion, it could be stated that the use of carbon fibres as fillers offered significant advantages in strengthening polymer concrete, opening up opportunities for its use in more demanding conditions and in a wider range of industrial applications.

The rhythmic and stable operation of trolleybuses and autonomous trolleybuses or urban electric buses, depends to a large extent on the reliability of the equipment installed on the trolleybus. The actual operational reliability of trolleybus electrical equipment (EE) depends on its technical condition. Under the influence of external factors and specific operating modes, the technical condition of the equipment is continuously deteriorating, reliability indicators are decreasing, and the number of failures is increasing. Using the mathematical theory of reliability, probability theory and mathematical statistics, numerical methods of solving nonlinear and transcendental equations, this article defines the conditions of diagnostics depending on the intensity of failures and the given probability of failure-free operation of the equipment. Additionally, the inverse problem of determining the current reliability of electrical engineering systems depends on the terms of diagnostics and the intensity of failures being solved. As a result of the processing of statistical information on failures it is established that for the electrical equipment of a trolleybus, after a number of repair measures, the maximum density of failures occurs at a lower mileage, and the probability of failure-free operation can vary depending on the degree of wear of the equipment, i.e., on the number of previous failures. It is theoretically substantiated and experimentally confirmed that the reliability of trolleybus electrical equipment changes according to the exponential law of distribution of a random variable. It has been established that the real averaged diagnostic terms regulated by instructions are not optimal in most cases and differ several times from those defined in this paper. The dependence of switching equipment run-in on time has been clarified, which served as a prerequisite for specifying the inter-repair period for various types of trolleybus electrical equipment. A method of adjustment of the inter-repair time for the electrical equipment of trolleybuses is proposed.

Open-pit mining involves the use of vehicles with high load capacity and satisfactory mobility. As experience shows, these requirements are fully met by pneumatic wheeled dump trucks, the traction drives of which can be made using thermal or electric machines. The latter are preferable due to their environmental friendliness. Unlike dump trucks with thermal engines, which require fuel to be injected into them, electric trucks can be powered by various options of a power supply: centralized, autonomous, and combined. This paper highlights the advantages and disadvantages of different power supply systems depending on their schematic solutions and the quarry parameters for all the variants of the power supply of the dumper. Each quantitative indicator of each factor was changed under conditions consistent with the others. The steepness of the road elevation in the quarry and its length were the factors under study. The studies conducted show that the energy consumption for dump truck movement for all variants of a power supply practically does not change. Another group of factors consisted of electric energy sources, which were accumulator batteries and double electric layer capacitors. The analysis of energy efficiency and the regenerative braking system reveals low efficiency of regeneration when lifting the load from the quarry. In the process of lifting from the lower horizons of the quarry to the dump and back, kinetic energy is converted into heat, reducing the efficiency of regeneration considering the technological cycle of works. Taking these circumstances into account, removing the regenerative braking systems of open-pit electric dump trucks hauling soil or solid minerals from an open pit upwards seems to be economically feasible. Eliminating the regenerative braking system will simplify the design, reduce the cost of a dump truck, and free up usable volume effectively utilized to increase the capacity of the battery packs, allowing for longer run times without recharging and improving overall system efficiency. The problem of considering the length of the path for energy consumption per given gradient of the motion profile was solved.
