Information

Tung Pham studied at the Technical University of Merseburg and received his doctor degree in 1995 from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, in the field of materials science and polymer technology. During subsequent research stays at the University of Halle and Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, he researched the reactive modification of polymers and reactive polymer systems.  After almost 15 years of industrial research in polymer synthesis and modification, he has been teaching as the Professor of Materials Engineering at the University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen since 2014 until his appointment at the University of Innsbruck in 2016. From 2016 to 2021, he held the Austrian BMK Endowed Chair for Advanced Manufacturing in the field of composites and technical textiles at the Research Institute for Textile Chemistry and Textile Physics and is now Head of the Institute. His area of work is in the interdisciplinary area of textile chemistry, textile physics, and polymer materials. His research focuses on fibre functionalization and modification of interfaces and surfaces as well as separation and recovery of fibre polymers.
