The increasing reliance on electronic technologies has elevated the urgency of effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials. This review explores the development and potential of magnetite-incorporated one-dimensional (1D) carbon nanostructure hybrids, focusing on their unique properties and synthesis methods. By combining magnetite’s magnetic properties with the electrical conductivity and mechanical strength of carbon nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon fibers (CFs), these hybrids offer superior EMI shielding performance. Various synthesis techniques, including solvothermal synthesis, in situ growth, and electrostatic self-assembly, are discussed in detail, highlighting their impact on the structure and properties of the resulting composites. This review also addresses the challenges in achieving homogeneous dispersion of nanofillers and the environmental and economic considerations of large-scale production. The hybrid materials’ multifunctionality, including enhanced mechanical strength, thermal stability, and environmental resistance, underscores their suitability for advanced applications in aerospace, electronics, and environmental protection. Future research directions focus on optimizing synthesis processes and exploring new hybrid configurations to further improve electromagnetic properties and practical applicability.

In both fundamental and applied scientific exploration, nanostructured protective materials have garnered substantial interest owing to their multifaceted utilization in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, among others. This study investigated the evolution of cutting-edge materials for electromagnetic radiation attenuation, with a specific emphasis on the incorporation of superparamagnetic magnetite nanoparticles, Fe3O4, into composite systems. The nanoparticles were generated through chemical condensation, meticulously adjusting the proportions of iron salts, specifically FeSO4·7H2O and FeCl3·6H2O, in conjunction with a 25% aqueous solution of ammonia, NH4OH·H2O. This study examined the intricate details of the crystalline structure, the precise composition of phases, and the intricate physicochemical attributes of these synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The analysis was conducted employing a suite of advanced techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy-dispersive analysis (EDAX). The key findings of this research suggest that the magnetic nanoparticles generated through chemical condensation have an average size between 10 and 11 nm. This size was determined using BET surface area measurements, which were precise to within 0.1 nm. Moreover, this study demonstrated that incorporating superparamagnetic nanoparticles into composite materials significantly reduces microwave radiation. In particular, an optimal concentration of 0.25% by weight leads to a maximum decrease of 21.7 dB in cement specimens measuring 10 mm in thickness. Moreover, a critical threshold concentration of 0.5 weight percent is established, beyond which the interactions of nanoparticles inhibit the process of remagnetization. These investigations demonstrate that it is feasible to pursue a route towards the development of highly effective electromagnetic shielding materials tailored to specific requirements for diverse applications.

In modern fundamental and applied research, protective materials containing nanostructures are becoming increasingly popular, which leads to their widespread use in fields such as medicine, pharmaceuticals, electronics and many others. In this paper, a chemical condensation method is considered for the integration of magnetic nanoparticles with superparamagnetic properties into the structures of polymer fibers, opening up new horizons for the development of materials capable of protecting against electromagnetic radiation. Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4) were synthesized by chemical condensation with an optimal ratio of two aqueous solutions of iron salts. Iron sulfate (FeSO4·7H2O), iron trichloride (FeCl3·6H2O) and 25% aqueous ammonia solution (NH4OH·H2O) were used as initial reagents. The research focuses on the study of ultrathin composite fibers obtained from synthesized magnetite nanoparticles. A detailed analysis of the crystal structure, phase composition and physico-chemical properties of magnetic fillers will be carried out in the work. Imaging techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) will be used for this purpose. An analysis of the factors affecting the shielding properties of composite materials will also be carried out. The results obtained can significantly expand the range of applications of polymer fibers as protective materials in various high-tech industries.
