Information

Prof. Hrvoje Kušić has been employed at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology since 2001, currently as a professor. He received a BSc and PhD in 2001 and 2006, respectively, from the same institution. He is head of the research group on advanced oxidation technologies and solar-active materials. His research interests include advanced water treatments, particularly advanced oxidation technologies; nanotechnology, mainly design and development of solar-active materials for water treatment and energy conversion; process simulation and optimization including mechanistic/phenomenological modeling; fate and behavior of contaminants of emerging concern using QSA/PR modeling; waste management, particularly thermal treatment technologies; and microplastics. He is the recipient of the National Annual Science Award (2011) from the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports of the Republic of Croatia for his outstanding scientific research. He is/has been involved in more than 20 national and international research projects, seven as a principal investigator. He is (co)author of more than 100 publications (>90 in peer-review journals) and holds >2900 citations (h-index 28), and has participated at upwards of 100 national and international conferences, including several plenary and invited lectures. Prof. Kusic is/was also an editor in several journals, including one of the leading journals in the field, the Chemical Engineering Journal.
