Two variants of electricity transmission from the Transfer-Switching Station (TSS) to the battery charging station were analysed in the paper. The first variant under analysis referred to the transmission of electricity via a three phase a.c. line with rated voltage of 15 kV. In the second variant of electricity transmission, the d.c. line with the working voltage of 1500 V was used. For both variants, lines and other equipment such as transformers, rectifier system and voltage stabilisation system in the battery charging station were modelled. For both solutions, analysis of energy per annum was conducted depending on the distance of the charging station from the TSS. On top of this, the simultaneous operation of several chargers was taken into account, which would correspond to the case of charging many buses at the same time from a single power line. The paper demonstrates that in the case of the analysed electricity transmission systems in the electric bus battery charging systems it is possible to use a more advantageous solution, which is characterised by reduced power and energy losses.

This article describes the problems associated with distributed electrical power generation and the most frequent interruptions occurring in power grids. The most common methods of improving the quality of the power supply were analyzed and the possibilities offered by energy storages in this respect were considered. The operating parameters of an exemplary PV system connected to the power grid were analyzed. For this purpose, the model implemented in the Matlab/Simulink environment was used. Based on the conducted analysis and a review of the literature, conclusions were drawn and solutions were presented which could improve the quality and the reliability of power supply. The simulations conducted focused on the co-operation of individual photovoltaic, micro-installations, with rated powers of 12.2, 19.825, and 39.65 Kw in the power grid, which also corresponds to the co-operation of several, smaller micro-installations with low density.

This work concerns the experimental verification of changes in the energy efficiency of photovoltaic installations through the use of bifacial modules. For this purpose, an experimental stand was designed and built for the comparative analysis of the efficiency of two types of photovoltaic panels: bifacial (bPV) and monofacial (mPV). The tests consisted of placing the panels at different heights above the ground surface and at different angles. During the tests, three substrates with different albedo were taken into account: green grass, gray concrete (fabric), and white snow (polystyrene). The tests for both types of panels were carried out simultaneously (in parallel), which guaranteed the same environmental conditions (temperature and solar radiation intensity). Based on the results of the voltage and current measurements for different angles of PV module inclination and, for bPV panels, different heights above the ground surface and different types of substrate, a series of current–voltage characteristics and power characteristics were plotted. The “additional” energy efficiency of bifacial panels compared to monofacial panels was also determined. It was shown that under favorable conditions, using bifacial panels instead of monofacial panels can increase the production of electricity by more than 56% from structures of the same dimensions. The research results can be of great value when designing photovoltaic installations.

The paper presents the results related to the simulation of dust-separating tangential cyclones: single cyclones of various geometries, and an axial multi-cyclone with fixed geometries and components. Its goal was to apply low-cost analyses for cyclones in industrial realization. Therefore, the...

In the study the possibilities of using personal computers equipped with multi-core processors for optimisation calculations of complex technical objects were analysed. Desktops and portable computers, such as laptops, were compared. The exemplary object which was subject to the optimisation process was a three-phase, unshielded busduct in constant insulation. A genetic algorithm method was used for the purposes of optimisation. Times and accelerations of calculations obtained thanks to the use of multi-processor technology were compared in the study.

The paper presents an original method underlying an efficient tool for assessing the condition of photovoltaic (PV) modules, in particular, those made of amorphous cells. Significantly random changes in operational parameters characterize amorphous cell operation and cause them to be challenging to test, especially in working conditions. To develop the method, the authors modified the residual method with incorporated histograms. The proposed method has been verified through experiments that show the usefulness of the proposed approach. It significantly minimizes the risk of false diagnostic information in assessing the condition of photovoltaic modules. Based on the proposed methods, the inference results confirm the effectiveness of the concept for evaluating the degree of failure of the photovoltaic module described in the paper.
