Luís Passarinha graduated in Chemistry Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and received a Master's in Chemistry and PhD in Biochemistry from Universidade da Beira Interior. He has been an integrated member of the research unit UCIBIO at the New University of Lisbon and the recently approved Associated Laboratory, Institute for Health and Bioeconomy i4HB. Luis focuses his main research
on (a) production, recovery, and purification of therapeutic proteins; (b) stability screenings and crystallization of soluble and integral membrane proteins; (c) proteomics characterization of human matrices; and d) exploring the design of experimental tools for screening or optimization of specific conditions used in different bioprocess steps. Since 2006 until now, he has published more than 80 papers, several book chapters, and one patent. Also during this decade, he has participated as a research member in multidisciplinary teams of several projects in the scientific domains of production and separation of biomolecules.
