Relevance. The domestic cat (Felis catus) and the eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) belong to the same family — feline, predatory order. The cat was domesticated more than 10 thousand years ago. Lynx is the most promising animal for domestication. It is successfully bred in fur farms and, which is no longer uncommon, is kept by private owners as a pet. At the same time, the anatomy of these animals has not been studied to date. This makes it much more difficult to provide medical care and does not allow us to trace changes in organs with intensive anthropogenic impact on the body during domestication. In this regard, the study of the morphology of the eurasian lynx is very relevant and timely. Material for research (11 eurasian lynx corpses) wasobtained in hunting farms of the North-Western region of the Russian Federation. Corpses of a domestic cat (mestizos) were obtained from veterinary clinics of St. Petersburg (15 animals studied).Methods. A complex of modern and traditional methods was used in the study: fine anatomical dissection, angiorentgenography, computed tomography; production of corrosive and enlightened vascular preparations, morphometry and photographing.Results. The domestic cat (Felis catus) and the eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) have significant differences in the topography and branching of the aortic arch and thoracic aorta, despite the close relationship in taxonomy. The eurasian lynx is characterized by the presence of a brachiocephalic trunk and a trunk of common carotid arteries. Similar vascular structures are absent in a domestic cat. For them, the presence of the brachiocephalic artery and the independent departure of the right and left common carotid arteries, without the formation of a common trunk, was established. At the same time, we state that some main arterial transport vessels and their branches in these animals have common principles of location. This pattern has been determined for the vertebral, internal and external thoracic arteries, including their branches of the first order.

The article considers etiological factors, clinical manifestations, laboratory and instrumental methods for diagnosing kidney pathology, which requires the use of antibacterial drugs – pyelonephritis. However, this pathology can be difficult to diagnose and not every antibacterial drug is suitable for its treatment. The main ways of kidney damage by bacterial infection in small domestic animals are ascending infection and hematogenous introduction, when pathogenic microorganisms enter the kidneys along with the bloodstream. The article provides predisposing factors leading to the development of pyelonephritis. Pyelonephritis has several types of course. The acute form of the disease is most easily diagnosed due to the vivid clinical signs and pronounced changes in blood, urine, and kidney sonography tests. Whereas the chronic form and latent course may be overlooked due to the nonspecific clinical picture. In the treatment of pyelonephritis, the occurrence of antibiotic resistance in bacteria can be fatal for the patient, because if it is impossible to eliminate infection in the kidneys, the development of renal failure is inevitable, leading to all manifestations of uremia, anemia and other changes that occur with impaired renal function. To prevent the development of antibiotic resistance, it is extremely important to make a final diagnosis through bacteriological urine culture, but pyelonephritis is a pathology that requires a comprehensive diagnostic approach and, if suspected, it is advisable to start etiological treatment immediately, correctly choosing an antibiotic. Not every antibacterial drug is suitable for the treatment of pyelonephritis. For example, one of the first-line drugs of choice in the treatment of urinary tract infection (UTI), amoxicillin with clavulanic acid does not penetrate the renal parenchyma. The group of choice for the treatment of bacterial inflammation of the kidneys are fluoroquinolones, but not every drug from this group is suitable for treatment in animals and there are certain restrictions in their use in the case of puppies, kittens, as well as in cats as a species, therefore, the selection of an antibiotic should be carried out individually in each clinical case, taking into account the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drug, the result of urine sampling and other studies, as well as the physiological characteristics of the patient.

Currently, there are known pig breeds that are characterized by a high rate of growth and development, precocity, fertility, individual structural features, high productivity and economic profitability. The study and breeding of new pig breeds helps to thoroughly analyze the data obtained in comparative, species, age aspects with similar types of farm animals. This fact helps to make a reliable assessment of all economic factors, as well as to analyze the quality of products received from the pig industry. The study was conducted at the Department of Animal Anatomy of the St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. Cadaveric material for the study was delivered to the Department of Animal Anatomy of the St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine from the pig breeding complex of the Leningrad Region. To achieve this task, traditional morphological research methods were used, namely: fine anatomical dissection with injection of latex vessels, photographing, vasorentgenography with injection of lead meerkat, morphometry in the "RadiAnt" program. The largest main vessels diverting blood from the pig's stomach are the splenic, left and right gastric veins. Ultimately, they are syntopically connected to the small omentum, passing between the leaves of which they open into the portal vein of the liver. The branch of the right gastric vein branches along the loose type, and the splenic and left gastric veins branch along the main one. When conducting a comparative analysis of the morphometric characteristics of the diameter, the splenic vein will prevail over the left and right gastric veins. The results of the study can be used by veterinary specialists, in particular surgeons, to establish operative access to the stomach of pigs.

The study of the urinary organs of birds is of great practical importance when working in the field of poultry farming and makes it possible to improve the quality of the product obtained from poultry. Knowledge of the morphology of the urinary system in poultry is an important area for veterinary specialists. Kidney pathologies such as gout, nephritis, urolithiasis and neoplasia of various origins are a common problem in poultry farms. It is impossible to increase the productivity of poultry, as well as to carry out therapeutic and preventive measures without knowing its species and breed anatomical features. The work was performed at the Department of Animal Anatomy of the St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. As the studied material, we used the corpses of Ross-308 cross broilers, aged 60 days in the amount of 10 pieces, 5 males and 5 females. The methods used for the study were fine anatomical dissection, morphometry and photographing. As a result of the study, we found that the length of the left kidney in males is 1.05 times greater than in females, and the length of the right kidney is 1.07 times. The width of the right kidney in males exceeds the females by 1.18 times, and the left – by 1.17 times. The girth of the right and left kidneys in males is 1.18 times greater than in females. We also found that in broilers of both sexes, the left kidney prevails over the right in size. On average, the left kidney is 1.02 times larger than the right one.

The taste organs have a species-specific structure in different animal species. The development of the taste bud in different species of fish occurs at different periods of ontogenesis. The purpose of our work was to study the morphological features of the structure of the taste bud in Clarias gariepinus. Analysis of our studies made it possible to determine the histological features of the structure of the mucous membrane of the esophageal wall. The taste bud is an important structure in the digestive system of the African clary catfish. It is round in shape and consists of specialized cells that have a number of features, each of which has a specific function. In the region of the taste pore at the apical pole, neurosensory cells are equipped with cilia, through which the signal is transmitted to the afferent nerve fiber. The data obtained can be used to study the microstructure of Clarias gariepinus organs, as well as to determine taste preferences, which will allow optimizing the operation of enterprises producing feed and therapeutic and prophylactic drugs for these fish species.

One of the most frequently performed accesses in the practice of an orthopedic veterinarian is access to the proximal epiphysis of the tibia. Access to the proximal epiphysis of the tibia is necessary in many cases of treatment of pathologies of the musculoskeletal system in cats and dogs and can be used in such surgical pathologies. The aim of the study was to consider options for surgical access to the proximal epiphysis of the tibia to perform osteosynthesis of fractures according to the Salter–Harris type, and osteotomy leveling the slope of the tibial plateau (TPLO) with anatomical and topographic justification. The study was conducted in the Network of veterinary centers "Kotonai" and the Department of Animal Anatomy of the St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. The object of the study was dogs of small and medium breeds in the number of twelve individuals. The average age of the patients ranged from 6 months to 12 years. The study involved 5 intact females and 7 intact males. The average weight at the time of the study ranged from 2.5 to 21.0 kg. In the process of collecting the life history of all patients, the presence of chronic diseases, allergies and infectious diseases is excluded. The initial examination of the animal included: collection of anamneses of life and illness, general clinical examination, thermometry, neuroorthopedic examination, auscultation of the heart and lungs, X-ray examination under sedation. General clinical examination, thermometry and auscultation of the heart and lungs did not reveal pathological changes in all cases. According to the results of the study, it was found that there were no severe postoperative complications requiring repeated treatment in the studied patients. With the observance of clear anatomical and topographic landmarks in the formation of accesses, a good understanding of the anatomy of the medial and cranial surfaces of the tibia, visualization in the wound during surgical interventions (osteosynthesis of SalterHarris fractures, TPLO osteotomy) in the area of the proximal epiphysis of the tibia is convenient and safe.
