Dr. Elsaharty recieved his PhD degree in Electric Energy Systems from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain in 2018. Later in 2018, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, Alexandria, Egypt. Currently, he is a Post-Doctorate Research Fellow in the Research Institute for Autonomous Systems at the University of North Dakota. He has over 10 years of academic teaching and research experience with embedded systems, power electronic systems and autonomous systems. His main research interests include embedded controllers, autonomous vehicles and power system applications. Dr. Elsaharty has worked and collaborated with several research centers and institutes in USA, Spain, Portugal, UK and Egypt. He has worked under several European funded projects from the Spanish Ministry of Economy & Competitiveness and Spanish Ministry of Science and the European Commission (H2020 program). Dr. Elsaharty is the first inventor of 1 patent, author/co-author of 19 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers and first author of 1 handbook. He has advised/assisted with several graduate and undergraduate students in projects related to the fields of industrial automation, autonomous vehicles and power electronic systems. Dr. Elsaharty is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for the past 10 years.
