In this paper, a novel classification technique for large data set of mammograms using a deep learning method is proposed. The proposed model targets a three-class classification study (normal, malignant, and benign cases). In our model we have presented two methods, namely, convolutional neural network-discrete wavelet (CNN-DW) and convolutional neural network-curvelet transform (CNN-CT). An augmented data set is generated by using mammogram patches. To enhance the contrast of mammogram images, the data set is filtered by contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE). In the CNN-DW method, enhanced mammogram images are decomposed as its four subbands by means of two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform (2D-DWT), while in the second method discrete curvelet transform (DCT) is used. In both methods, dense scale invariant feature (DSIFT) for all subbands is extracted. Input data matrix containing these subband features of all the mammogram patches is created that is processed as input to convolutional neural network (CNN). Softmax layer and support vector machine (SVM) layer are used to train CNN for classification. Proposed methods have been compared with existing methods in terms of accuracy rate, error rate, and various validation assessment measures. CNN-DW and CNN-CT have achieved accuracy rate of 81.83% and 83.74%, respectively. Simulation results clearly validate the significance and impact of our proposed model as compared to other well-known existing techniques.

Cyber–physical systems (CPS) connected in the form of Internet of Things (IoT) are vulnerable to various security threats, due to the infrastructure-less deployment of IoT devices. Device-to-Device (D2D) authentication of these networks ensures the integrity, authenticity, and confidentiality of information in the deployed area. The literature suggests different approaches to address security issues in CPS technologies. However, they are mostly based on centralized techniques or specific system deployments with a higher cost of computation and communication. It is therefore necessary to develop an effective scheme that can resolve the security problems in CPS technologies of IoT devices. In this article, a lightweight hash media access control destination sequence distance vector (Hash-MAC-DSDV) routing scheme is proposed to resolve authentication issues in CPS technologies, connected in the form of IoT networks. For this purpose, a CPS of IoT devices (multi-WSNs) is developed from the local chain and public chain, respectively. The proposed scheme ensures D2D authentication by the Hash-MAC-DSDV mutual scheme, where the MAC addresses of individual devices are registered in the first phase and advertised in the network in the second phase. The proposed scheme allows legitimate devices to modify their routing table and unicast the one-way hash authentication mechanism to transfer their captured data from the source toward the destination. Our evaluation results demonstrate that Hash-MAC-DSDV outweighs the existing schemes in terms of attack detection, energy consumption, and communication metrics.

In the era of smart healthcare, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) based Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) plays an important role, while accessing, monitoring, assessing, and prescribing patients ubiquitously. Efficient authentication and secure data transmission are the influential impediments of these networks to be addressed to maintain credence amidst clients, healthcare specialists, pharmacologists, and other associated entities. To address the authentication and data privacy issues in smart healthcare, in this paper, we proposed a hybrid lightweight authentication scheme leveraging supervised machine learning (SML) technique followed by Cryptographic Parameter Based Encryption and Decryption (CPBE&D) scheme to ensure the validation of legal patient wearable devices with secure transmission over the wireless communication channel. To achieve better results, we enabled the decentralized authentication of legitimate patient wearable devices to minimize computation cost, authentication time, and communication overhead with the help of SML technique to predicate and forward authentication attributes of patient wearable devices to the next concerned trusted authority, when it is shifted from region to another region. Simulation upshots of the SML and CPBE&D scheme exhibit extraordinary security features with cost-effective validation of legal patient wearable devices accompanied by worthwhile communication functionalities compared with the predecessor work.

The exact lung cancer identification is a critical problem that has attracted the researchers’ attention. The practice of multiview single image and segmentation has been widely used for the last 2 years to improve the identification of lung cancer disease. The utilization of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques can significantly expedite the process of cancer detection and stage classification, enabling researchers to study a larger number of patients in a shorter time frame and at a reduced cost applying the image segmentation approach herein, the multiresolution rigid registration mechanism is applied to enhance the segmentation further. Techniques like principle component averaging and discrete wavelet transform are verified for the image fusion development. To review the performance of the suggested technique, the image database resource initiative‐based lungs image database consortium is tested in this paper which includes 4,682 computed tomography scan images of 61 patients with nodules sizes from 3 to 30 mm. According to the study finding, the outperformed results of our model are obtained in terms of feature mutual information, and peak signal‐to‐noise ratio, which were recorded at 0.80 and 19.25, respectively. Moreover, the detection and stages of cancer (STG‐1, STG‐2, STG‐3, and STG‐4) of lung nodules are also assessed by using the ResNet‐18 convolutional neural network classifier. With only 1.8 FP/scan, the achieved accuracy and sensitivity for detection are 98.2% and 96.4%, respectively. The study’s findings show that our proposed strategy outperforms existing models significantly. Therefore, the proposed models have the potential to be implemented in clinical settings to provide support to doctors in the early diagnosis of cancer, while minimizing the occurrence of false positives in scans.

Over the last two decades, radiologists have been using multi-view images to detect tumors. Computer Tomography (CT) imaging is considered as one of the reliable imaging techniques. Many medical-image-processing techniques have been developed to diagnoses lung cancer at early or later stages through CT images; however, it is still a big challenge to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of the algorithms. In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on image fusion for lung segmentation to optimize lung cancer diagnosis. The image fusion technique was developed through Laplacian Pyramid (LP) decomposition along with Adaptive Sparse Representation (ASR). The suggested fusion technique fragments medical images into different sizes using the LP. After that, the LP is used to fuse the four decomposed layers. For the evaluation purposes of the proposed technique, the Lungs Image Database Consortium and Image Database Resource Initiative (LIDC-IDRI) was used. The results showed that the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) index of our proposed method was 0.9929, which is better than recently published results. Furthermore, the values of other evaluation parameters such as the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were 89%, 98% and 99%, respectively, which are also competitive with the recently published results.

In this paper, we present a three-byte-based Media Access Control (MAC) protocol to resolve the mutual authentication problem in an Autonomous Internet of Vehicles (AIoV) network. Initially, the network architecture is divided into two chains, i.e. the local and public chain, wherein the local chain the authentication and communication process is controlled by Cluster head (CH), while in the public chain it is controlled by the base station (BS). The proposed paradigm uses the 48-bit MAC address of the vehicle’s embedded sensors for authentication, with the ability to alter the authentication parameters by triggering the last three bytes (24 bits) of the MAC address with a predetermined time interval. Persistent triggering of the last three bytes of an AIoV’s MAC address guarantees its integrity in the network because only legal vehicles are capable of initiating and validating the authentication request with the other vehicles in the network. Initially, the MAC addresses of all AIoVs are registered with the BS in the public chain through the concerned CH. Likewise, the MAC-address triggering of registered AIoVs is carried out in the BS with a defined time period and broadcasted in the public chain, which is further distributed through CHs in the local chain. Most of the computation is supervised by BS and CH in the public and local chains respectively, which minimize the client-side authentication complexity and enhances network efficiency in terms of authentication with 98.3% detection rate, communications, and computing costs, along with 11% improvement in the latency, 15% improvement in packet loss ratio (PLR), and throughput.
